Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Here are a couple of my callas. I have five medium containers and one large of the white callas. I also have about 5 small to medium containers of colored callas but they are just coming up from bulbs now so they are not quite photo ready :flower3:.

Are all your calla lilies in pots? I have some in the ground that have successfully overwintered for quite a few years now. Though I have them in a semi protected spot, an area with raised concrete steps and landings on three sides. I am just outside the normal growing zone for them, so think the spot they are in made the difference. Do you shelter the pots, or dig them up, or is winter not an issue in your area?

somehow, I forgot or missed that Friday was Friday! This is the first time this has happened since we’ve been home 6 weeks. Last night, we went to watch something on tv and it struck me that I had missed watching Magnum PI on Friday. I thought it had been Thursday. In the grand scheme of things, no it didn’t matter one bit. But sheesh... not to know what day it was.

Happy Sunday everyone. Today has been better for me. Thank God, I was able to figure out how to get some cool night air in my room last night which allowed for better sleeping. Dad is feeling better than yesterday, too. We are both praying this week ahead will bring us new air conditioners. We are so very Blessed to be healthy and in overall good spirit. God truly does have this and all of us, too!

Extra things I am thankful for today:

3 phone calls to friends. I am not a big talking on the phone person, much prefer in person. However right now, it sure is nice to hear someone's voice who is dear to me :)

Church service this morning had featured a nice surprise of a choir friend bringing the special music.

I know this may sound weird but I'm grateful May is coming closer! I pray a new month will bring us some brighter times ahead.

Breakfast foods are good at any time! In fact, in addition to our Dis Dessert Meet up, we should have a Minnie's Breakfast meet up some day at Disneyland. For those of you who live back East maybe you can have a WDW version of that, too :) I especially love pancakes with chocolate chips in them at IHOP, fluffy scrambled eggs, of course hash browns, with my jaw issues waffles can sometimes be too chewy but those are good, too! I also enjoy Thomas mini Bagels. My favorite "Mini" item is a "Minnie" one ::MinnieMo Minnie's Breakfast at one time had these delectable mini chocolate muffins, so good! The Jolly Holiday Bakery had a big version that IMO was no where as tasty.

Question of the day: 4/26: Breakfast foods? All in or nope?

Are you breakfast eaters? I really wasn't and still not big eater when I wake up. I need good hour or two before I even think about food.
I wake up early when in a hotel that serves the "free" breakfast buffet because I just can't wake up and roll out for food. I do like breakfast but more brunch person but not fussy. I don't eat lot of eggs in their pure form and I hate the smell of bacon cooking. I'm pretty simple for this meal. I'm thinking biscuits and gravy and sausage for dinner later this week or green chile chilaquiles. Yumm! That sounds like good way to use up rest leftover things. So breakfast for you or no?

Hi Tina..Happy Sunday! It's been a really rainy , raw day here in Western MD. The kind of day you just want to veg out and do nothing, so that's what we did. We watched Saturday Night Fever, which I hadn't seen in years, and he's watching Smokey and the Bandit now, lol. We had a texas bbq brisket that I put in the crockpot this morning. It was the most tender brisket we have ever had. Had twice baked potatoes and steamed broccoli with it. I made some white cake mix cupcakes this morning, and chopped up some strawberries and mixed them with sugar for a nice dessert later on.
I am not a big breakfast eater. I find that if I eat breakfast other than just a yogurt, then I am hungry and want to eat all day long. If I just have a yogurt or skip it altogether than I am fine till dinner time.

All of my callas are in pots, I am in Northern California so I really don’t worry about them during the winter, I just water them a lot less to avoid root rot, we didn’t get below freezing at all this past winter a typical winter we may get a few nights where it dips below freezing.

I really like most breakfast foods (except eggs) but I don’t eat breakfast unless I am traveling or meeting up with a friend for brunch. I feel best having my first meal of the day around 11am. I do make breakfast sandwiches for lunch sometimes as we both really like them.

Been there, done that a LOT lately. I never know what day it is. With him working from home all the time, one day just seems like the next. The only day I know for sure, is Saturday, since that's shopping day! BTW..Magnum was good this week!

Mmm, breakfast. It really depends on my mood. Bagels, yes. Yogurt, sure. Fruit, duh. Bacon..um, why bother asking... Sausage/ham...ya. pancakes, waffles, French toast...oh yeah. pastries....mmm. OJ...yep. Potatoes...hashed, country or otherwise....it's all good.

Eggs...gotta be in the mood and they have to be cooked right. Omelets are a go, over easy eggs as well. Scrambled are fine, but I hate runny scrambled and firm scrambled...gotta be in between. LOL

My steak kabobs for tonight were still frozen solid (after 2 days in the fridge) so what else to do, but order take out! I was voting for pizza, but DH and DS outvoted me and we ended up with Five Guys again. /sigh It's ok, because I made this for me today:

Mmm, mmm pineapple Dole Whip! (sorry bad photo, it's 90 here, and this was fresh out of the ice cream machine) Not quite as acidic as the stuff at WDW, but still tasty! I ordered the Lemon Dole Whip today on Amazon. I figured I can alternate ice creams with Dole Whips, since I have 2 ice cream containers! LOL

I got to see it. We had recorded it. I can’t wait to see what happens next week ( season finale)

BREAKFAST...on a normal day, I don't. I get up and have my coffee but that's it. Once a week, on Saturday or Sunday, my mother will make a breakfast for us...eggs, meat (sausage or bacon), and we can make our own toast or frozen pancakes or frozen waffles.

But we LOVE breakfast out! I will pretty much always go for a veggie omelet with rye or wheat toast. I wish more places would offer pumpernickel bread. I do try to avoid home fries or hash browns...I love them, but they're not doing me any favors. One of our favorite places is Hannah's in Indian Orchard, MA, near my in-laws. We go there almost once a month when we're not under quarantine. Hannah herself waits on us; she's from Poland and she gives me a "look" when I decline potatoes. One time I did say okay and she smiled and said, "Good girl." She'll give Josh a lollipop if she feels he's eaten enough of his food. We also enjoy the breakfast buffet at the Steaming Tender in Palmer, MA. We usually only do that when we can get the whole family to go (11 people). Since the restaurant is a converted train station, and trains still go by outside, they used to have it in a converted dining car outside the main restaurant. We miss that, but it really wasn't ideal - you could only get maybe 20 people in there at a time, and you couldn't move very well at the buffet line.

I'll never turn down Cracker Barrel. Love the blueberry pancakes with blueberry syrup.

We really look forward to breakfast out when we're in Florida. Our favorite place is the Country Skillet in (I think) Largo. I always get the garden veggie omelet there. DH likes the Spanish skillet. We also love Perkins (the Everything omelet...and I won't decline the hash browns there ;) ). Believe it or not, we also like Steak 'n Shake's breakfast. Unfortunately I think many of our favorite Florida breakfast places have closed in recent years.

Believe it or not, at the Legoland Florida hotel, the Bricks Family Restaurant breakfast buffet is pretty decent! They had just about everything and it was actually good, by buffet standards. If you don't like scrambled eggs, you can order another kind. I got a spinach, mushroom, and cheese omelet every morning we were there. Josh liked the waffles that looked like Lego bricks. I also liked that I could get some smoked salmon - I know it was out for bagels, but I can eat it plain, I like it that much. DH loved their "orange" juice, which we discovered was orange guava passionfruit.

Breakfast every day is a must for me.
But we try to be low carb.....it rotates through 4 things.
Oatmeal with banana, yogurt and toast, eggs and toast and chocolate berry smoothie.
We do like breakfast for dinner sometimes, then it is sausage or bacon, pancake or French toast and eggs

100 degrees right now......the whole week is going to be hot.
The pool is ready though.
We are doing spring cleaning, but hope for some pool breaks.

Dinner tonight will be smothered chicken (mushrooms, onions and jalapenos with cheese on top), green salad and for DH Spanish rice

This 67 year old figured it out without any help from my kids so I am sure that you can. I Zoom church meetings and WW with folk older than me. You can do it!

I agree! This is the video I found for my friend's mom:

Question of the day: 4/26: Breakfast foods? All in or nope?

Definitely all in! I must eat something within an hour or so of waking up or I'm starving. It's usually coffee and a bagel with cream cheese or toast with peanut butter...that sort of thing.

But I also love more elaborate breakfast foods, so I'll sometimes just have a little cereal and eat "second breakfast" later when DH and DS are up. - Pre-quarantine, we used to enjoy going out, but lately they're both into experimenting with egg sandwiches, and they're great about making one for everybody!

And I have definitely been known to make breakfast for dinner - especially pancake nights!

My dad makes the best big breakfasts - eggs over easy, rye toast, bacon, and home fries with peppers and onions...I'm drooling just thinking about it!

And of course, my other favorite breakfast is Mickey waffles!

Hi friends. Cold, rainy day here.

My son and DIL set up an Zoom scavenger hunt today. Included our daughter, our son's SIL, his MIL, and everyone's associated families. It was a lot of fun. 3 minute time limit for each item which included - book with the highest number of pages, food with highest calories per serving, oldest manufactured item in the house. We lost but it was a close competition.

Dinner was chili and salad.

Question of the day: 4/26: Breakfast foods? All in or nope? Are you breakfast eaters?
I can't eat when I first wake up. I have to wait a bit. I force breakfast, usually an egg and toast, yogurt and fruit, or oatmeal and fruit. All low points. I do like an occasional breakfast out. Usually waffles or pancakes.
I'll never turn down Cracker Barrel. Love the blueberry pancakes with blueberry syrup.
Ditto!

Gratitudes:
DH went out for milk, eggs, bread, and Berger cookies.
Fun hour of Zoom scavenger hunt.
Online church. Message about staying together while scattered.

Well it's going to take longer to repair the induction burner than I thought so I bought a new one. Annoying but I have some meal ingredients that won't adapt well to the microwave and/or oven. Still plan to try repairing the first one since a backup is always a good thing plus maybe I'll learn something new.

Tonight's dinner was chicken provencal with green beans and broccoli. Dessert was poached pears with a chocolate sauce (mix equal parts cream and chocolate and place in microwave for 20-30 seconds, so simple and uses up all those WDW night service chocolates that come back home) and gingersnaps crumbled on top.

No one here is a big breakfast eater on a regular basis. Right now,at home, DGD, is loving smoothies and yogurt parfaits. The adults go for a fruit plate with coffee for the man and tea for me. Sometimes we add cheese and meat to the plate. When we do go for it (normally on vacation) the one meal we all agree on to start the day is dim sum. A little of this, a little of that and a leisurely time to enjoy the meal.

Now if we each went with our druthers it would be curdled eggs (soft scrambled eggs and butter cooked over a double boiler), roasted peppers, zucchini, and onions in a tomato based sauce, and whole wheat toast for me. I always order this when we stay in DC.
Smoked fish, bagels, and scallion cream cheese or eggs Benedict for the man.

DGD likes sausages, a fried egg, and a fruit platter. If she could have a smoothie too, I'm sure she'd be even happier.

Breakfast is one of my favorite meals. I like all things for breakfast...muffins, bagels, English muffins, omelets, French toast, pancakes and of course Mickey Waffles!!!

Dinner tonight was take from an Italian restaurant we have not ordered from before (or even went there). They were have a 50% off special for dinner for 4 adults and 3 kids was only $60 total. A great deal with huge portions. We all are eating the other half the dinner for lunch tomorrow.

My hobbies are baking and Disney!! Today a friend posted pics of her homemade soft pretzels and I got the itch to make them tonight....they came out great!!! Never made them before!

I don't know why I didn't make them Mickey shaped!!! Next time!! This was the first time I ever attempted homemade soft pretzels. It was the Alton Brown recipe and was not too hard at all. I'll definitely make them again.

I forgot before to ask a Zoom question. I know the main idea of it is that people can see and hear one another. How does that part work? When you sign up for Zoom are you able to check yes or no on a camera option (where you can be seen by others at the meeting) or is it automatic? I would gather a similar process would be for microphone or do you have to have an external microphone on your computer (if you are on a computer rather than a phone). Thank you everyone. Prayers you are all having a good night.
