It's Almost 2026, Would You Buy a 2042 Resort?

I'll be on the lookout for BWV but I saw a good price on a BCV contract recently. I'm hesitant though since I haven't stayed there although I want to say its similar to BWV but with a better pool.

I heard stormalong bay is great for kids but not so much for toddlers or little kids. I have BCV on my list of resorts to visit but it's not for quite some time.

I fell in love with boardwalk due to the theming inside the rooms. The artwork is amazing. Also being on the Boardwalk with the performers is great.

BCV has a detached building with a different color, making the DVC portion stand out yet still feel part of the main resort.

It’s technically garden/pool view or now called preferred, so cost the same as Boardwalk view, not standard or resort.

Ahh, okay! Trying to keep up with the the room view rebranding. Both great views so that makes sense.

BCV is a teal, BC Resort is a blue. Should stay there & try the place.

Or anyone thinking of BCV, walk over there & go inside the DVC building. See for yourself the layout. How it’s close to the resort entrance area and for the bus stop access paths. Its pool is right outside it’s own sitting room doors, with a bbq area. The building goes over the waterway. Plenty of turtles to see.

If you own there it's easier to book than Boardwalk, for two reasons:
1. No views.
2. There are dedicated 2 bedrooms.

It's very easy to get what you want at 11 months at BCV. Boardwalk has some better deals on value room views but BCV is easy to own at.

We already own one 2042 resort (OKW). If we were maybe 10 years younger , we would strongly consider BRV as we really enjoy the resort. And perhaps BCV because it’s so convenient to Epcot. But we’ve recently retired and don’t believe it would be in our best interests to do so now. And now that we have a lot more time for travel, we plan to make the most of it - Europe especially - (although WDW will always be in the mix).

The vibe is different but the color scheme in the 1 BR at boardwalk had a lot of pink and blue and it reminded me of the BCV lobby lol.

Yours was an amazing view! I would have guessed yours was Boardwalk view too. Great to know that view there could be had with a Resort/Courtyard view!

I've been really impressed with our first stay here so far. Beautiful place.

As others have said, that was Preferred View booking category. The location request would be “View of Village Green.” There are 28 dedicated studios but only 4 dedicated 1BR and no 2BR with that view, and many people request it, so it can be tough to get, especially if you book a 1BR.

I like the dvc field guide. Just wish there was data for in between the 11th and 7th month mark.

We are in the process of purchasing a BCV contract resale. It is by far our favourite resort and the idea of owning DVC meaning we would need to potentially say goodbye to the Beach Club if we couldn't get regular bookings made it feel like it really wasn't worth the savings. We are also international and ideally do not want to deal with a DVC sale at any point in the contract. The 2042 expiry means it will end when our youngest is in their late teens and oldest is in their early 20s - a new life stage where we can regroup and see what vacations look like for us as we approach retirement.

We are not looking at this as an investment, but moreso prepaying to lock in a reasonable rate at the Beach Club for the rest of our kids' childhoods. Once we close, we will stop looking at point values and calculating what the current value. Once we close the initial purchase, we will just enjoy booking BCV stays for the cost of our maintenance fees for 16 years and and try not to overthink or second guess! We have looked at renting many times but the lack of flexibility with three young kids feels a bit riskier than we are comfortable with.

Could we make a better financial decision? Probably! But after much discussion during our recent trip where we paid cash to stay at the Beach Club... our Disney vacations do not fall in the category of sound financial decisions. They are the one area in our life where we spend likely more than is reasonable to create lifelong family memories - and we have never regretted this on a single cash reservation.

And just for some piece of mind, I’d say you safely have 5-10 years to sell it and get a decent amount back if needed.

We could see both fireworks for MK and EPCOT from our balcony last night. It was pretty great.

I finally see what the fuss is all about for BWV! Gorgeous hotel and the rooms had a great refurb for the kitchen and bath that hasnt yet caught up across the lake at BCV. The pool was great and the slide is fun, all with an easy layout. The walk back from EPCOT was so easy and quick too. I do love my BCV though and won't be replacing it in my lineup anytime soon but can now appreciate the views and enjoyment available over here in comparison.

Moral of the story: don't skip 2042 resorts because of their timeline! Not every dvc purchase has to be about the best value. It's okay to just make it where you want to be and some of 2042 are pretty amazing!

The timing of this post...wow!

As a hardline "no 2042 resorts" guy, I have more recently been focused in on the BWV and BCV contracts. I hear the "buy where you love" all the time and I get it, but it just isn't me. I have many pros and very few cons of every deluxe resort we've stayed at over the past few years. 6-7 on the front end of a split stay in Oct and Feb, plus 6-7 on the back end of each. We get around and I've yet to not love each location. I do far too much research not to.

Having said all that, I felt a connection w/BCV (6 nights in Oct 24). Not really the rooms, but more the location I think. The steps to EPCOT is unmatched versus our other experiences. And the morning runs in that entire area are just fantastic! Great memories for the whole family. In Feb 26 we are staying 6 or 7 nights at BWV and I have big expectations because of the location, although it's garden/pool view since we don't own there.

Trying to stay there before making the decision, but I know how much we enjoy that area already. My protective force field is deteriorating in real time
