I'm sure we could do more than 3 days at DLR, but I can only take a week off work and we want time for San Diego too. With our friends living there now, I'm sure this won't be our last trip to So Cal.We spent 5 days at DLR/DCA last Spring Break and could have stayed longer. Still felt I didn't see everything and wanted to ride Radiator Springs Racers more!
FYI there's an Alamo rental car office in Downtown Disney. We found a great price thru Costco.
Thanks for the tip on the rental car from Downtown Disney. I don't have a Costco membership but I'll look into that location.
Yes, I remember we were at WDW around the same time too! We were there 8/27-9/3 last year.We will just miss you guys at DLR! We'll be there June 29-July 2 and then we head down to San Diego to finish our vacation down there We are driving from Denver. I'm forgetting which it was but IIRC, your family was either at WDW right before or right after this past Aug/Sept.
One path to consider is spending Avios on Aer Lingus - There's a good primer on this here https://milecards.com/1588434411/ho...lights-with-avios-and-save-big-on-surcharges/
You'd want to check out the Avios off peak calendar to plan your travel accordingly.
The nice thing about Avios is that it accepts transfers from UR, AMEX MR, and SPG. There's also a BA card that sometimes has great sign-up bonuses. I got a 100,000 Avios bonus years ago; last year around April there was a 100,000 bonus offer, looks like it's at 75,000 now which is better than its usual 50,000.
ETA: United has low fees but one way costs 30K in Saver fares so the trade-off might be parting with more points/miles.
Thank you both for these links! Very helpful. I will have to play around with it and see what the cash prices are for summer on the different airlines. Unfortunately we have to travel in July & August because of the kids' school schedule, which is probably all peak pricing for award flights. And we'd need a lot of miles for 4 round-trip tickets, even in regular economy. It may make more sense to just pay for the flights with UR points through the CSR.You don't want to use BA Avios to fly AA to London. You will still incur huge taxes and fees. Flying on AA metal using AA miles would be my suggestion. There are other ways though. Here is a pretty good post on options that also list the taxes and fees. https://upgradedpoints.com/best-ways-to-fly-to-london-with-points
Yes, I noticed that. I'm leaning towards the Hotel Indigo on W. Katella, which has free parking, but I'm waiting to book until I get the rest of the points I need from the IHG Accelerate bonus this quarter. Hopefully they don't sell out of reward nights before then.Don't forget parking in your budget if you get a car at lax. Some hotels charge, some don't, up to $20/night.
