NEW Disney Gift Card Deals and More.

FYI to all who have been considering Sam's Travel for discounted Disney tix. Still a pretty good idea if you can stack it with the current Chase Freedom 5% entertainment category, and as a bonus, each ticket purchase comes with $20 in Dining Dollars that can be spent against DGCs on the Dining Dollars site ($15 Dining Dollars off every $100 gift card). However, important to be aware that Sam's Travel charges fees on top of its tickets - which I thought were generally universal among discount ticket retailers, but discovered not with all of them.

Sam's tickets even with the fees, are still markedly cheaper than buying through Disney, and even a little cheaper than buying through Undercover Tourist, but they are NOT cheaper than buying through Unlocked Magic, a ticket retailer associated with DVC Rental Store. Unlocked Magic does not charge any fees (from what I can tell), so the price is a flat discounted rate, plus tax. That actual discounted rate is in line with what Sam's charges, but when you deduct the fees, UM comes out way ahead.

This was a bit frustrating for me to discover AFTER I bought PH tix through Sam's, but, through the use of the Dining Dollars and the cashback attained through the Chase card I did essentially offset the missed savings that we could have had buying through Unlocked Magic ... even still, Unlocked Magic came out slightly ahead. I do strongly suspect that UM would code as Travel (or even Lodging?) because it's associated with DVC Rental (though I have no personal DP to demonstrate that), so the Chase cashback is really what saved us from UM being ALOT cheaper than Sam's (Or UT, or Costco, BJs travel, etc.). Just something to be aware of, especially for those planning on buying party tickets. UM has positive reviews from fellow Disboarders, so I'll likely buy my party tix there from there now that I've exhausted this quarter's 5% Chase cashback.
I believe I saw that Unlocked Magic is coding as Travel so good news for 3x Travel card people or those that wipe out the purchases with a Venture or VentureX.

I had no ideas that Sam's charged a fee on their tickets. Glad you were saving enough to have cards and know how to use the Dining Dollars to get back some of the fees.

Every time I have tried purchasing tickets samsclub.com, which actually is powered by the same system as TicketsAtWork.com I have found the extra fees they tack on make the price higher than other ticket vendors.

I would use Unlockedmagic.com personally - they had a 12% off promotion for all Disney park tickets but it ended on July 31st. It codes are Office Supplies though which would be good for Chase Ink Business Cash cards that earn 5% back on office supplies, but won't work for the Chase Select Live Entertainment 5% back this quarter or for other cards that give bonuses for travel or entertainment categories.

UnlockedMagic.com still has 10% off on MNSSHP, MVMCP and Jollywood Nights tickets - and it works for all dates unlike Disney's AP or DVC discount. I bought my MVMCP tickets from Unlockedmagic.com and had no issues.

The prices for UnlockedMagic.com are still usually better than Undercovertourist.com and there are no added fees.

Interesting - where did you see that? I purchased MVMCP tickets from them and my purchase through Chase coded as "Office & Shipping" - although digging further, it shows as "Business Services" which I'm not sure will trigger the 5% on the CIC either.

I thought that I saw someone early post that since it used the same credit card code as DVC Rental store.

I will have to search.

Unfortunately Shipping does not count as the 5% on the CIC

@Liquidice Interesting. I believe I saw someone on one of these boards suggesting the 12% was still valid today surprisingly. I will check, as perhaps that's why the savings was so pronounced. Either way, the party tix promo is definitely visible on the site. 👍

Oh that would be good if they extended it! I didn't check, just remember when I saw the 12% in July it said it expired on July 31st. Could be one of those "always on sale" kind of things where the expiration always gets bumped out :)

Ok so over on this thread https://www.disboards.com/threads/dvc-rental-discounted-tickets.3967480 it was mentioned that it coded as travel (You were the first to reply)

That must have been before rental store switched to unlocked magic I guess since the website first mentioned really doesn't go anywhere https://dvcrentalstore.com/plan/order-tickets/
Unlocked magic was mentioned so I assumed that it was coded as travel based on that.

Sorry about that.

I wonder if at some point things catch up and UnlockedMagic eventually codes as travel too. It is odd for it to code as "Business services" right now.

Has anyone used Viator to purchase party tickets this year? I have a 10% Chase offer and it looks like RetailMeNot has 8% cash back. I believe many of us used Viator and/or TripAdvisor last year when they had coupon codes and cash back stacking for ~25% off.

Rakuten has 12% cash back but sadly excludes theme park purchases.

I used Rakuten for a non-theme park purchase through Viator and it did not track. The Cashback terms of service specifically said it could not be used with a coupon not listed on Rakuten or credit card offer. I had both the Chase offer and coupon, so not sure if one of them triggered it not tracking (probably the coupon).

Made mine at Lowes on 7/26/25 and received it on 7/29/25.

Thanks!!

I also received that offer as well and it's states it is an "IHG Cardmember Exclusive"

I just did the chase.com/mybonus and was able to activate it on my IHG card.

I still have not received my credit from Home Depot.

Did your Loews purchase show "Home Improvement" as the merchant type or category?

Yes it is identical except for Lowe's vs HD and I prefer purple over black.
Sorry it has not posted yet. This was on an IHG Card right?

Yes, it was an IHG card. I'm disappointed because I have the offer again and now I don't think I'll use it.

Not sure if I should contact Chase to ask for the credit. I don't think the offer specifically excluded gift cards but I don't want to take any chances...

Well you don't need to show your receipt just that the charge was made when you do a secure message.

The new offer doesn't have any exclusions other than straight with a merchant and not a 3rd party or delivery service. It also states:

The statement credit should appear on your account within 14 days after the qualifying transaction posts on your statement.

I know you bought in July but I don't think it has been 14 days yet.

Mine hasn't posted for Menards yet either, and I bought regular stuff (no GCs). However, mine usually take a good 7 days if not more. It's only been a few for me.

We bought a dishwasher last Saturday through Lowes, the charge on DH's card was declined the first time, and the second time, went through the 3rd try. So I had about 6 or 7 various pending charges/credits, but it showed the correct amount for the final pending. Now it has all disappeared, even the correct pending charge, and the credit limit no longer reflects the charge either, which concerns me. The dishwasher was installed yesterday, I am hoping Chase gets its act together by Monday! Not sure what is going on.

I bought a $500 GC with my IHG at Lowes, credited the cash back no problem.

New to me, but maybe not a new thing.....I see that Rakuten will let you claim your rewards as a gift card, which you can get immediately. Included in the cards they have is Disney (minimum $25 redemption)

Yes, it has worked for me the last cycle, and I did it again this morning. The eDGC came within minutes.

But why would you want to redeem it for a Disney gift card at full price? It would make more sense to get the actual cash, put it in your bank, and use it to pay off your credit card when you buy a Disney gift card on sale somewhere else.

It's nice to see Rakuten is offering other options but I'm with @bbsearchlight I'd rather have the money. Cash is king!
