Looking at the list of prohibited items on the cruise, it says no game systems citing the connectivity to the stateroom TVs. However, since the Nintendo Switch doesn't need to connect to the TV, it should be allowed on a cruise, yeah? Has anybody had any issues with a Switch being brought onboard? I'd like to be able to play some while I have some downtime on my next cruise.

I got the Switch version of Civ for Christmas but haven't attempted it. I'm not a console person At All (this was my family's attempt to turn me into one). How well does it translate from the PC version.

I only played Civ V before it, no experience with VI since my laptop couldn't run it well.

It's an absolute blast. I think I have more hours in it than Smash Bros at this point. It's the full game minus the expansions, nothing cut to accommodate it on the system. The controls take some getting used to (move cursor with left stick, pan camera with right stick, center cursor on screen with right stick click, etc), and to be honest I would like some more options for UI changes, but overall it's downright amazing to play it handheld. Which is why I want to bring it on the cruise.

I’m sure you could bring a (non-Switch) console AND a monitor and they’d be ok with it. It’s a lot to carry but since you’re not trying to mess with their TV it’s probably fine.

Whether you SHOULD bring a (non-Switch) console and monitor... well, that’s a different conversation.

A switch is basically just a large DS, so I can't see anyone having an issue with it.

Me and my brother played on his switch something fierce on our last cruise in December. No problems at all!
We maybe got some weird looks in the Cove Cafe playing Smash though :p
