The Official POLYNESIAN VILLAS & BUNGALOWS Owners and Fans info thread

Just back from long stay at Poly. Positively PERFECT in every way!
Impeccable CMs at every encounter. Never passed one w/o an ALOHA greeting 🌺
(Of all, though, THE BEST Mousekeepers ever! Always with a smile...)
The only crowds encountered were at GCH during Ohana dinner hours (as usual).
Capt Cook's: Always empty tables (& also GREAT CMs)
Park's CMs allso great...
The only rudeness we ever saw was from guests toward CMs or other guests.
Early Entry is a keeper for us to enjoy "must-do" attractions w/o paying extra for convenient access.
Best part of MDE is being able to leave complimentary Cast Comments! :earsgirl:
Magic all around :tink: ✨

@ PIT for a stay last month and the lines were often long @ Capt Cook's around normal dinner time.

That's probaby true at every eatery around "normal" dinner time. 🤷‍♀️
We usually aim to be a bit 'ABnormal' to avoid big lines everywhere.
But seating at Capt Cook's is usually adequate except for PEAK vaycay weeks & there's always take away to eat in your villa.
In any event, being flexibie has always helped us enjoy our stays at WDW.

Quick question about the studios (converted rooms, not the new Tower).

I have in the back of my mind that I read the studios can get smoky because of one of the restaurants at the Polynesian, but I can’t find anything on that now. Did I dream that, or is that an actual thing I need to take into consideration if I’m extremely sensitive?

Thanks in advance for any help!

I haven't heard that. The longhouse studios are pretty far from the GCH to deal with smoke exhaust from the restaurants.

You would be smelling Ohana's wood grill, which might be a little smokey but I doubt the Longhouses get any smoke from the kitchen, probably just the smell of cooking meat. Sometimes you can see the smoke from the top of GCH coming out during the dinner rush and smell the bbq.

I second @MagicDVC. We have stayed in Moorea facing the Oasis pool many times. These are the rooms closest to the GCH (where the restaurants are). It’s a couple minute walk to GCH.

There are grills in the center of the three DVC longhouses though. I wonder if someone smelled these grills and thought it was the restaurants?

It’s pretty rare someone uses those grills. If concerned, I would ask for the Moorea longhouse. From what I recall, that’s typically upwind of that direction. That or stay preferred view (Tokelau lagoon side which is away from the grills).

Thank you all! That’s so helpful and makes me feel a lot better! 😊

I have a question for the DVC Poly lovers who've stayed in Lake View Studios. With the bungalows blocking the view, are you still able to get a view of the Electric Water Pagent? Any pros/cons of Lake View? I've heard a few complaints about the ferryboat horn, but last time I stayed in Moorea, although I was in Standard view, I wasn't bothered at all by the ferry horn, maybe because I'm a pretty sound sleeper. So tell me the good/bad of Lake View. I'm such a fan of the EWP.

I didnt get a photo at night, but here is one that can show you our view and you can see you wont see much from the perspective of this room atleast.

What I remember is 3rd floor rooms could see most of EWP. One potential issue is the palm trees are 3 stories high. Depending on room location and palm tree, one may be partially obstructed.
Also, I think the bungalows will block off the view the closer you are to the ferry boats.

Our first stay was right after PVB opened. Our only issue was one morning around 5am the ferry boat drivers decided to have some fun with a horn blowing contest. Several complaints by guests and that didn’t happen the rest of the stay.

If you happen to stay in the tower, theme park view can see EWP. They also have two terrace garden areas that everyone with a room in the tower has access to. Those not staying at the tower, cannot access them because elevator requires tower room.

If I’m looking at going the first or 2nd week of August 2026, at 11 months out should I have a problem getting standard view at the new tower?

Is the address to have Uber/Lyft drop off the same for both Polynesian and Island Tower?

1600 Seven Seas Drive
Lake Buena Vista

Yes, but you'll need a MB/phone to get into the Island Tower parking lot. That gate is not manned by security.
When we stayed at the Tower, although not manned there was a phone at the gate. The CMs told us ride share can get through but they have to pick up the phone and let them know they are there for a pick up. I put this in the notes for the driver. It was hit or miss if it worked. Plus the traffic could be pretty heavy in the area. We found it easier to go to the Grand Ceremonial House for a pick up and used our MB to get in the gate at the Tower for return. It could be something different now, that was just our experience.
