Hi everyone!
I’m a student at the University of Central Arkansas, and last semester I took a really interesting Film & Literature course called Critical Disney Studies. We explored the history, motives, challenges, and cultural impact of Walt Disney and the Disney company from a critical perspective.
For my final paper, I chose to focus on Main Street, U.S.A. as more than just a charming entryway—looking at how it functions as an ideological space full of curated nostalgia and national identity. I analyze its architecture, music, design, and overall atmosphere to explore how Disney constructs a romanticized version of America through storytelling and consumerism.
It’s a bit academic but also written with a lot of heart—especially since Disney has been such a big part of my life growing up. I’d love to hear anyone’s thoughts or feelings about the paper, whether you agree, disagree, or just have your own memories of Main Street to share!
Thanks for reading!
