Will a VPN fix it?Um. No. It's not a Canada thing.

CANADIANS wee complaining about it so go ask themCanada isn't overseas and this isn't a thing.
If it were an actual thing than yes. No where official has actually stated that non US residents can't book in advance. It is a rumor as of right now. Will a VPN fix it?

Both Canadians and overseas people have been upset after Travel Agents and other sources stating the’ll need to enter US before making the purchase and/or the advanced reservations. The person you quoted was asking about overseas
Yes but now I'm paying directly, on top of increased room and park tickets prices. It used to be perk of staying on site, now it's an extra paid perk. Anyway, I will end up paying for it some days, however most UK guests have 14 day tickets and that's a lot of extra money, but I'll just have to suck it up and work harder before next August. You "paid" indirectly, as part of the price of your park ticket and/or hotel room cost.
Of course, it will still be part of the premium they'll charge for onsite hotel rooms, even if you choose not to buy it for any of the days you stay there.
Personally, I would consider this a major bonus. As long as the price for multipass is similar to what it was for G+ it’s a win for us. As a planner, I absolutely love this and the ability to sleep in again.I can’t believe this is happening to us again!
Genie was rolled out on the first day of our trip in 2021. Our upcoming trip starts on July 24th. Guess we’ll have to get used to dealing with another new FP system the first day of our vacation again.
And apparently there won’t be any advantage for us staying onsite.![]()
Well, if you don't think it's going up, you aren't thinking.. They will say they are IMPROVING it by adding prebooks. Then also removing the 2hr waitI'm afraid to find out.
Agreed. They could have saved people a lot of trouble last year and just started to charge for FastPass. It's nice that people won't have to wake up at 7am but this new multi-pass does not solve the problem that they were trying to solve when introduced Genie+, which was to give people more spontaneity and to make it more fair for people not staying on property to have a chance at the good rides. This looks like the old FastPass system, only now you will pay for it. This looks like a huge step backwards in my opinion. One park per day? And IF you're lucky enough to snag something good once everyone else already staying on property snags theirs at the 7 day mark, there will be absolutely nothing good left the day of once you scan into your first LL. This looks really terrible.
Unless this is on official disney letterhead I'm not buying it.
What's the point of this? I don't get it.Unfortantily it looks like it's true. us UK guests are not impressed. Esp as most people book 7-14 days onsite. So the new perk for onsite guests is taken away for all international guests. So if international want to use LL they are left with the dregs.

That’s what I wonder. We are in the “probably won’t get DAS” group and thought we’d get genie plus 4-5 times over the course of two weeks. Wake up, see how the day starts, buy genie. Now, with preselects, we might have trouble even getting even tier two rides the morning of.Will you have to buy it for all the days on a ticket?
I'm canadian and when G+ initially came out I had to use a VPN to check out LL times (just to research). *I had non date based tickets and would make a park reservation and check out LL times a couple weeks before my trip in March 2022.Yep and it is already inaccurate because it also says you can't download the my disney experience app unless in the US. I have been able to download it in Canada forever.
Eta: I can already purchase Genie+ in Canada so making this change would cost them money and wouldn't make financial sense and we all know that Disney is about that dollar.
What's the point of this? I don't get it.
It's got a lot to do with how the Disney websites are set up with geo-fencing. If you try to go to disneyworld.com on a UK based computer or phone, it redirects you to disneyworld.co.uk, which at initial glance looks pretty much identical to the US version of the site but with prices in pounds and UK specific offers. However as you delve deeper there are some features missing, such as certain types of reservations aren't available (no link to them and if you try to manually type the address, you just get a Stitch broken page) which are only fixable with a VPN.Disney will claim it’s some data protection issue. Same as what they do with magic bands.
No one knows what the issue actually is
