Plan Ahead with Lightning Lane Entry at Walt Disney World Starting July 24

It's got a lot to do with how the Disney websites are set up with geo-fencing. If you try to go to disneyworld.com on a UK based computer or phone, it redirects you to disneyworld.co.uk, which at initial glance looks pretty much identical to the US version of the site but with prices in pounds and UK specific offers. However as you delve deeper there are some features missing, such as certain types of reservations aren't available (no link to them and if you try to manually type the address, you just get a Stitch broken page) which are only fixable with a VPN.

For example, the page that's been linked earlier in this thread about the Tier lists does not work from a UK computer - it redirects you to a page about Online Check-In for hotels instead for some reason. (On that note, if someone actually can copy and paste the full tier list here rather than just a link to a page I can't access, I would be very grateful!)

Similarily if you use the MDE app from the UK there are some things that don't work; certainly until recently you couldn't check live wait times for instance - probably something you don't really need to do, but it was nice to be able look at in the run up to a holiday to get an idea of what rides to expect to get the busiest and when.

Disney once said it was for GDPR reasons on the magic bands and MDE . But you used to be able to get around that with VPN then disney implemented stricter checks....

We’re going the week before with “Before July 24th Genie+ & ILL may be available” on the new website.

This is our second trip ever to WDW and now officially our last. Would have never booked this trip to begin with if we knew they were doing this. It’s not the fact they are revamping the system. It’s the fact of the lack of notice of revamping the system and the possibility of not having any access.

The less than 30 days noticed is BS. We’re now dreading our trip.
I’d recommend calling them. My interpretation is that the current G+ system will still be active during your week… they say that “may” BS all the time because it’s based on availability same as they changed language to say you can expect to get 2-3 lightening lanes per day with G+ which is definitely a low ball number. Fingers crossed you will be fine.

It says only Advance Bookings are subject to tiers
What if you only book 1 LL -- say Big Thunder at 9am. As soon as you tap in, does this mean you can try to grab Jungle Cruise, Peter Pan and Space Mountain?
That’s what I am wondering, too.

We’re arriving on the 28th and I had the same question.

In addition, do I read correctly that the multi pass is only for 1 park per day? We like to park hop and I’m not thrilled about losing the ability to book in 2 parks each day.
Once you use your first one you can book at other parks

I have two complimentary park hopper tickets. They are linked to my MDE account. I need to make park reservations for this type of ticket. My question is, for those of us who need park reservations, if our tickets have park hoppers do you think we will still be able to make Lightning Lane selections for later in the day at the second park I go to and not the one I have a park reservation for? If that makes sense!

You have to tap into your first ride to book subsequent ones at another park anyway, your type of ticket is irrelevant as long as it’s a hopper.

Ya, I'm finding this one a little hard to believe also.
Ya it doesn't make sense.

1. I can currently make genie+ and lightening lane reservations from Canada
2. I can make any other advanced reservation
3. I could make advanced fastpass reservations when they were a thing
4. When genie+ was able to be purchased in advance, I could also do that.

What makes multipass so special and such a security risk thst Disney is going to go and change the rules so that they lose money because less international guests will buy the this product.

Re the rumoured international guests restrictions, I've seen commentary saying it's because the LLs need to be booked on the app, they won't be available to book on the website. Even with a VPN, the app needs location to function properly and will still default to UK (again, this is chatter online that I'm repeating so all speculation at the moment) I do know even using a VPN, I'm still regularly blocked out of some Disney-related stuff.

While I hope it's not the case, lots of signs are pointing towards this being an issue for international guests (I say this as a UK guest who was initially thrilled with the changes until this news broke)

Keeping my fingers crossed for good news on this.

Have they mentioned anything about split stays? Say you have a 4 day pass will you be able to make advanced reservation for all days at the 7 day mark?
I was about to ask this same question, we have a split stay coming up and I am also the coordinator for family friends that come three days after us and have no clue about any of this. It wouldn't have been an issue in the past with same day Genie+, but now I am not sure how this will play out...

I can currently book genie+, lightening lane, dining reservations and if I wanted to I could put in a mobile order on the app from Canada.

For nearly a decade these boards were full of people complaining about Fast Pass Plus and how they did not want to plan in advance. They wished they could choose the day of and longed for the days of Fast Pass legacy which was so much "better"
The "good old days" of the mad rush "I'm not running I'm just walking really fast" frenzy with hundreds of your "best friends" to get that paper FastPass for Toy Story Midway Mania..... lol

A modification to the current app and/or reboot of the program that was used for FP pre-booking should solve this problem.
I don't believe Disney would ever deter international guests from visiting.
