Plan Ahead with Lightning Lane Entry at Walt Disney World Starting July 24

The person you quoted was asking about overseas
Both Canadians and overseas people have been upset after Travel Agents and other sources stating the’ll need to enter US before making the purchase and/or the advanced reservations.

All I know is DAS went through something similar with video chats being locked outside US, so those people had to either wait until arriving at guest services to find out if it would be granted, or use a VPN to make the video chat possible before arrival.

I’m thinking the 2 things are somehow related? In either case trying a VPN might be the easiest fix.

You "paid" indirectly, as part of the price of your park ticket and/or hotel room cost.

Of course, it will still be part of the premium they'll charge for onsite hotel rooms, even if you choose not to buy it for any of the days you stay there.
Yes but now I'm paying directly, on top of increased room and park tickets prices. It used to be perk of staying on site, now it's an extra paid perk. Anyway, I will end up paying for it some days, however most UK guests have 14 day tickets and that's a lot of extra money, but I'll just have to suck it up and work harder before next August.

So to me, this looks like the old FastPass+ minus the most popular ride in each park, and now we pay $$$ for it.

Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love the fact that we can pre-book again. (Something we used to have for free for all rides) I am very interested to know how much this will be for a multi pass per day per person.

I can’t believe this is happening to us again!
Genie was rolled out on the first day of our trip in 2021. Our upcoming trip starts on July 24th. Guess we’ll have to get used to dealing with another new FP system the first day of our vacation again.
And apparently there won’t be any advantage for us staying onsite. 🙁

The booking is done through the app...so do you think this means that everyone in my party can be booking for a different day at 7am on the day we're eligible?

Personally, I would consider this a major bonus. As long as the price for multipass is similar to what it was for G+ it’s a win for us. As a planner, I absolutely love this and the ability to sleep in again.

We were in a similar situation and we were going to start our family vacation to WDW on July 23. I would have loved to have this as our option but schedules did not work out this year so we had to postpone ‘till next summer.

We have been testers for early versions of FP+ and it was always a positive…. But again, it was all free back then so it was all benefiting us. There was no downside like having to pay mucho $$$ for it.

This looks like the old FastPass system, only now you will pay for it. This looks like a huge step backwards in my opinion. One park per day? And IF you're lucky enough to snag something good once everyone else already staying on property snags theirs at the 7 day mark, there will be absolutely nothing good left the day of once you scan into your first LL. This looks really terrible.
Agreed. They could have saved people a lot of trouble last year and just started to charge for FastPass. It's nice that people won't have to wake up at 7am but this new multi-pass does not solve the problem that they were trying to solve when introduced Genie+, which was to give people more spontaneity and to make it more fair for people not staying on property to have a chance at the good rides.

Also, I still feel like DIsney needs to hire new "naming" people. Calling one a multi-pass vs a single-pass makes it sound like you're getting multiple single pass rides with the multi-pass. I think some people will be surprised when they purchase the multi-pass and discover that they can't book the most popular rides in the park with it. At this point, I think Disney should step back even further and sell ticket books. $25 for each e-ticket ride and less for the others. At the end of the day, I still get stressed about thinking about Disney planning vs going to Sea World or Universal. I miss the 90s when Disney wasn't that complicated.

Unless this is on official disney letterhead I'm not buying it.

Unfortantily it looks like it's true. us UK guests are not impressed. Esp as most people book 7-14 days onsite. So the new perk for onsite guests is taken away for all international guests. So if international want to use LL they are left with the dregs.

What's the point of this? I don't get it.

Will you have to buy it for all the days on a ticket?
That’s what I wonder. We are in the “probably won’t get DAS” group and thought we’d get genie plus 4-5 times over the course of two weeks. Wake up, see how the day starts, buy genie. Now, with preselects, we might have trouble even getting even tier two rides the morning of.

Yep and it is already inaccurate because it also says you can't download the my disney experience app unless in the US. I have been able to download it in Canada forever.

Eta: I can already purchase Genie+ in Canada so making this change would cost them money and wouldn't make financial sense and we all know that Disney is about that dollar.
I'm canadian and when G+ initially came out I had to use a VPN to check out LL times (just to research). *I had non date based tickets and would make a park reservation and check out LL times a couple weeks before my trip in March 2022.

But definitely needed a VPN and at some point it was fixed, maybe even just before March 2022.

I really hope this is not the case again here

Disney will claim it’s some data protection issue. Same as what they do with magic bands.

No one knows what the issue actually is
It's got a lot to do with how the Disney websites are set up with geo-fencing. If you try to go to disneyworld.com on a UK based computer or phone, it redirects you to disneyworld.co.uk, which at initial glance looks pretty much identical to the US version of the site but with prices in pounds and UK specific offers. However as you delve deeper there are some features missing, such as certain types of reservations aren't available (no link to them and if you try to manually type the address, you just get a Stitch broken page) which are only fixable with a VPN.

For example, the page that's been linked earlier in this thread about the Tier lists does not work from a UK computer - it redirects you to a page about Online Check-In for hotels instead for some reason. (On that note, if someone actually can copy and paste the full tier list here rather than just a link to a page I can't access, I would be very grateful!)

Similarily if you use the MDE app from the UK there are some things that don't work; certainly until recently you couldn't check live wait times for instance - probably something you don't really need to do, but it was nice to be able look at in the run up to a holiday to get an idea of what rides to expect to get the busiest and when.
