Burgers and French Onion Soup tonight

Beautiful lunch yesterday that became dinner for me. Started with a celery remoulade as an appetizer followed by trout steak with a wine and butter sauce and carrot purée; never had trout cut as a steak before. Nice cut!
The meal ended with a plate of local cheese although I could have had a sweet ending if I wanted.

Spent the night in Rouen so I’d more time at the museum and stopped at a fishmonger before hopping the train this afternoon. Bought some smoked fish filets and I’ll have a cold meal of toast with salad and the smoked fish atop. Grabbed a pear tart from the patisserie and that’s the end of tonight’s meal. Opened a bottle of cider to drink with the meal; I’ll miss not having this beverage when I get home. Yes, I’m having some cases sent home but what happens when I run out?! Guess I’ll have to return, hehehe.

Loaded baked potato for DH. Baked potato w/ butter for me. Plus, broccoli cheddar soup for both of us.

Today was the last farmers market of the season in the town I work in. I picked up supplies for one last tomato sandwich dinner. Sesame semolina bread, pesto, and fresh mozzarella. I still have a few garden tomatoes.

I also picked up some corn and I have heavy cream coming with my dairy order tomorrow so maybe I’ll make corn chowder this weekend.

Last night I had dinner at my mother in law's house and had shepherd's pie that she made with ground turkey instead of beef (that's a big plus for me since I'm not a fan of ground beef. We had corn on the cob too. She actually got it for free at the farm stand when she went to get some other things. They had a big box of it and were giving 6 ears to every customer for free. It was the last of the crop and I guess they wanted to get rid of it. We were nervous that it might not be good as last of the crop but it was really good.

Tonight I am trying my first attempt at Homemade lasagna.
