Beautiful lunch yesterday that became dinner for me. Started with a celery remoulade as an appetizer followed by trout steak with a wine and butter sauce and carrot purée; never had trout cut as a steak before. Nice cut!
The meal ended with a plate of local cheese although I could have had a sweet ending if I wanted.
Spent the night in Rouen so I’d more time at the museum and stopped at a fishmonger before hopping the train this afternoon. Bought some smoked fish filets and I’ll have a cold meal of toast with salad and the smoked fish atop. Grabbed a pear tart from the patisserie and that’s the end of tonight’s meal. Opened a bottle of cider to drink with the meal; I’ll miss not having this beverage when I get home. Yes, I’m having some cases sent home but what happens when I run out?! Guess I’ll have to return, hehehe.
