Plan Ahead with Lightning Lane Entry at Walt Disney World Starting July 24

Travel agent sent me the image from Disney. It states "once in the US, guests of eligible resorts can purchase and begin preplanning up to seven days prior to their check-in date." They then sent me the screenshot of them confirming with their Disney contact, that "please make sure that everyone is fully aware that the advance LL reservations (7 days if staying at a Disney Resort) is only applicable if they are in the US."
Unless this is on official disney letterhead I'm not buying it.

I can send you the screenshot that was sent to me from the TA
The screenshot you sent also said once in the US My Disney Experience app can be downloaded right at the top and I don't know about you but I've been able to download that app from Canada since it became a thing. And it wasn't anything official. I could gave made that image in canva

I hope you're right, i'm just going based off the info the TA gave me and the info from their Disney rep

sent you dm with image and the source
Yep and it is already inaccurate because it also says you can't download the my disney experience app unless in the US. I have been able to download it in Canada forever.

Eta: I can already purchase Genie+ in Canada so making this change would cost them money and wouldn't make financial sense and we all know that Disney is about that dollar.

Why would Disney do such to overseas guest? I don't get that???
If anything, it’s likely to do with some international law or something on Canada’s end.

Similar issues happened with DAS video chat outside USA. Fo whatever reason those countries weren’t allowing it. People just used VPNs as a workaround. That’s probably what’ll happen here too.

Canada isn't overseas and this isn't a thing.

Um. No. It's not a Canada thing.

Im curious about the 2 hour rule potentially no longer being in effect. If you get stuck with nothing but late lightning lane times, it really defeats the purpose of the whole thing imo, if you cant make another reservation at all during the day until your first scan comes around
Yes! Not only late lightning lanes, but if you’re doing something else earlier in the day (e.g., resort day, traveling, water park), you will not get much if you have a late afternoon first scan (or later). I can’t imagine they will do away with the 2-hour rule, that goes back to the original FP. But none of the new materials mention being able to get another one after 2 hours, just after you scan one.

I don't see any of the Meet-and-Greets in the list of attractions. Will they all go to just Standby Lines?
This!!! I’m keeping my eyes and ears open. We are going for the first time this August and the biggest thing I want to do is meet princesses and characters!

This is going to be a terrible issue for folks checking in during that July 24 window. I think it is unexceptable for them to not have the 3/7 day pre-plan in place for them. They are setting up their website to fail, CMs to deal with angry/disappointed people, and visitors to leave with a bad taste in their mouth. If they can provide that 3/7 day pre-booking window, it would help them iron out their site and reduce the already expected confusion from visitors.

So some random blogger posts it but the news of the entire change is less than a day old and it's not anywhere official and everyone is panicking. Seems people are jumping the gun a little

I'm just reporting where I read this. As I said, I haven't made any comments about this other than telling you where I read it. I'm not spreading rumors.

We’re going the week before with “Before July 24th Genie+ & ILL may be available” on the new website.

This is our second trip ever to WDW and now officially our last. Would have never booked this trip to begin with if we knew they were doing this. It’s not the fact they are revamping the system. It’s the fact of the lack of notice of revamping the system and the possibility of not having any access.

The less than 30 days noticed is BS. We’re now dreading our trip.
