Plan Ahead with Lightning Lane Entry at Walt Disney World Starting July 24

A modification to the current app and/or reboot of the program that was used for FP pre-booking should solve this problem.
I don't believe Disney would ever deter international guests from visiting.
Especially since the 14 day has to be due to international guests, like Disney doesn’t even sell 14 day tickets to domestic guests…

The "good old days" of the mad rush "I'm not running I'm just walking really fast" frenzy with hundreds of your "best friends" to get that paper FastPass for Toy Story Midway Mania..... lol

How about you dodge thunderstorms trying to get a Test Track FP, just to find out they're all gone for the day. Been there, done that! :rotfl:

WDW had better start building more Value resorts if they want people to stay on-site, because--and here of course I'm just guessing--the cost of the new LL system is going to seriously impact how much people can afford to pay for their resort.

My sister, who's my WDW traveling companion, simply cannot stand in line, so we always purchase G+ and ILL$. Before G+ we always used to stay at AKL. Now we stay at POFQ, which, btw, we like very much. But if New LL (whatever the acronym's going to be) costs $50+/day per person, we may be priced out there as well.

I wonder if they're eventually going to go with something like Uni's Express Pass--free for Deluxe guests, very expensive for everyone else. Except the WDW Deluxe resorts cost double (at least) the price of the Universal deluxe resorts.

And, while I'm wondering about things, are they planning to get rid of all of Genie? That'd be a relief right there.

I’m in UK but have a US travel agent for my hotel reservation. I emailed her and she’s just replied that we can use the 7 day as it is linked to hotel reservation just have to use in the app. We will see.
My MDE is very erratic as it is, so I’ll just be keeping an eye on how it works when released.
Good luck to all who will be thrown in at the deep end

Hi - does anyone know if we buy for our entire trip when we are allowed to book 7 days early, is it one price each day? or will it be dynamic? Just planning ahead.

Dynamic

Edit to add:
Price
Pricing for Lightning Lane passes varies by date and theme park or attraction, and purchase is subject to limited availability. Prices will be displayed in the My Disney Experience app.

Where is everyone hearing that non US residents can't prebook. That is absurd and is not stated anywhere on the disney site.
It has been confirmed by Disney, and also states on the website that international guests can only enjoy the service once they arrive in the US. Likely that a VPN will not work as the MDE app uses location services.

Sorry, one more question - We will have to make the reservations starting when the rest of group shows up on December 4th. Seven days before - is that the day before Thanksgiving? 11/28? Or on Thanksgiving, 11/29?

It's got a lot to do with how the Disney websites are set up with geo-fencing. If you try to go to disneyworld.com on a UK based computer or phone, it redirects you to disneyworld.co.uk, which at initial glance looks pretty much identical to the US version of the site but with prices in pounds and UK specific offers. However as you delve deeper there are some features missing, such as certain types of reservations aren't available (no link to them and if you try to manually type the address, you just get a Stitch broken page) which are only fixable with a VPN.

For example, the page that's been linked earlier in this thread about the Tier lists does not work from a UK computer - it redirects you to a page about Online Check-In for hotels instead for some reason. (On that note, if someone actually can copy and paste the full tier list here rather than just a link to a page I can't access, I would be very grateful!)

Similarily if you use the MDE app from the UK there are some things that don't work; certainly until recently you couldn't check live wait times for instance - probably something you don't really need to do, but it was nice to be able look at in the run up to a holiday to get an idea of what rides to expect to get the busiest and when.
This.
As the MDE app is geo-fenced / locked you cannot use a VPN to trick it. People in the UK will need to use a spoof location app (possibly combined with a VPN) in order to book in advance.
Unfortunately fake GPS apps only really exist for Android operating systems. So unlikely to work with an IPhone or other apple device.

A chat conversation isn't confirmation. Cast members are consistently incorrect. Is there a link to somewhere on the website

I was able to download the app outside of the US so that also isn't confirmation
Ok. Just tying to give you some information. I’m not the one setting the rules. Personally, I’d take the wording on the website, the confirmation from the cast member and the articles from several bloggers, all of whom confirm that international guests will not be able to use the advance booking system on the app, as pretty strong confirmation. But if you want to take a different view that’s fine.

14 days is the max days on a domestic resort reservation and the time in which you have to use a 10 day ticket. So this language does make sense for domestic reservations

I used to book like this when my kids when young and we took entire rest days
