PHM 2015-In Pursuit of Cupcakes While Running in Glass Slippers

I give it thumbs up and probably would call it pre race food! It had me at the peanut butter chips

I am in for this one too! I like PB&J and my favorite is Grape Jelly. I could get behind this for sure............

Cupcake Friday
(as if just being Friday isn’t sweet enough)

PB&J Cupcake
Captain Cooks at the Polynesian

I must admit that one of my comfort foods is a great peanut butter sandwich (sometimes with or without the jelly) and I have been known to grab a spoon and a jar of peanut butter so this cupcakes name gets me to stand up and take notice.

The PB&J is a vanilla cupcake topped with vanilla frosting. It sounds pretty plain...so where does the PB&J come in? The PB is in the chips on top and apparently looking at pictures the master bakers dont' skimp because one can never skimp on the peanut butter on a sandwich! As for the Jelly?

It's in the middle...and it is GRAPE! Yep, a good peanut butter sandwich in my opinion has to be made with grape jelly so I think Disney totally did this cupcake right! Here is the review I found from the Disney Food Blog...

"I had assumed, what with the GIGANTIC pile of sweet vanilla frosting over the cake base, that the PB&J flavors would almost be an accent, or even an afterthought. But, not at all in fact, it was hard to wrap my brain around the fact that I was, indeed, eating a cupcake. Somehow, this thing actually tastes a LOT like a Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwich! Go figure, huh? As a cupcake, it really does play a bit of a mind trick on you, and I imagine that lots of dedicated cupcake fans (and I do consider myself one) may not be able to get on board."

My thoughts? This one sounds interesting enough to try and share. I am not sure though I would really want to eat a whole one by myself.

What are your thoughts?

I might try this one, but I don't think it would be my favorite. I love chocolate!!

Wow! Looks fairly similar to the Crumbs cupcake!! They added a lot of jelly filling in this Disney cupcake which makes it look even better! :worship:

Ah, I love chocolate too!!!

I live a block away from a Crumbs cupcake shop (I know, deadly!) but my favorite cupcake is the Blackout cupcake!

Almost sold out at this location! (and yes, the giant cupcake next to it...yummmm)

Popping in to say hi to everyone! It's been a crazy week for kid related activities. Soccer, scouts, school...the three s's.

Congrats to everyone who has been running races! You guys are glowing in your photos and look so happy!

Tomorrow is my first 5k...7am with a forecast temperature of 63 degrees and 97% humidity. Not looking forward to it. In fact, I'm terrified.

My 10 year old is participating in the 1 mile kid run with a large group from his school. I go pick up our numbers, time chips and goodie bag after I get the kids from school this afternoon.

We're not allowed to bring music/headphones, but I'm hoping we can have our phones so I can check my pacing.

Things I am afraid of:
-being the only one taking walk breaks
-being the only new runner in the race
-everyone finishing in like, 20 minutes, and having to wait around for me to drag my fat rear end over the finish line
-a million things I haven't even thought of yet, but give me time

Things I am looking forward to:
-facing all of my insane, and admittedly irrational, fears
-the race being over
-drinking a beer at the ballpark later in the evening after the run

Oh...the race route goes right by one of our cupcake bakeries. Too bad they won't be open, or I'd stop in for some fuel. If the people in Oklahoma can pop in to McD's during a race, I can stop for cupcakes right??

I'll let you all know how it goes...and for the record, I'm pretending you're all there with me and picturing a castle on the horizon as I run :goodvibes

hello! You will do great - put the negative thoughts away and enjoy! Most people will be slower - I have taken to using arm
Signals when I am taking the walk break - stay right and all will be good.

I have been lurking and not running - allergy and cold - so this is my last day off of training before a 10k on the 31st.

I will go halfsies on the PBJ cupcake - love jelly but not peanut butter unless it's just plain pb or pb cookies.

Have a great weekend!

:rotfl: about the Oklahoma McDonalds runners!! I still cant believe those ladies did that.

Be sure to let us know how you do!

I was on-board until the jelly...I hate grape! (I actually love grapes, but anything grape-flavored is a no for me. I'm weird.) I actually make a PB&J cupcake and use strawberry for the filling. It's one of my favorites so I'm bummed I have to pass on this one.

Good luck! I'm sure you won't be the only one taking walk breaks. And FWIW, I finished last in my 1st 10k. They were waiting on me to start the kids race. :)

Congrats!!!! Great job! It's a great boost isn't it? You'll be signing up for your second 10K in no time!

I hope you used your 'Beer' coupon I see on the bottom.

Congratulations :cheer2::cheer2:! Glad you enjoyed it!!!:banana:what an accomplishment!!!

Just proved what a lush you are Nicole...I didn't even NOTICE the beer coupon! :lmao:

Congrats on the 10K cupcake! That's awesome!!!!!! :cool1:

Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cheer2: Good job and that beer coupon hahaha :rotfl:

Congrats on your 10K!! Great job!!! :yay:

Congrats on your 10K! We could run together. I finished my 1st 10K in 1:21:52 (I think!).

Thanks everyone! I totally did not use the beer coupons. I don't drink beer ever so the post-race beer is kinda lost on me. Maybe if they'd been wine coupons. ;) But I did get a free slice of pizza. Not too bad at 9am!

ARmom30 - we should run together! I would love to get to run with another cupcake at the PHM!

Well, I survived and I didn't finish last! My goal was to finish in 40 minutes or under...I crossed the finish line at 40 minutes 18 seconds, but my chip time was 40 minutes 4 seconds. I was so close! Here is a horrifying, red faced, just past the finish line picture with my boys:

Thanks for all the encouragement ladies! This was a big deal for me :)

Way to go!!! Your boys look so proud of their mother. Happy Mother's Day!! Congratulations!!!

Went through my planner today & figured out my marathon training plan. Seeing those 20+ mile runs are scaring the daylights out of me!! I am doing a hybrid plan of Galloway & Higden. I wanted to bump up my mileage a little bit during the week & will be following a 4 day run week with 2 rest days & 1 cross training day. I will do strength training 2 days during the week when I have shorter runs (Tues/Thurs). I am starting training with this new schedule this next week.

My husband is using the Higden method to train for the WDW marathon. He says he prefers it to other plans.

I love PB, but am not too keen on grape jelly. I think I'd try a bite or two, but overall I'd leave this one for someone else. I think my kids would gobble this thing up! I'll stick with a Butterfinger cupcake for my PB fix! ;)

I read the prize and rules. It includes a night at the Castle Suite and airfare if the winner lives more than 250 miles away. :)

OMG! I must enter! I want to stay in the Castle Suite!
