Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

Just curious, is it possible for both YC and BC to be booked up completely for Sept 12-19 week? That is a very slow time, NO Food & Wine yet....just doesn't add up? Unless there is a major convention going on?
I was just checking dates for my sister and her family who may join us the week of Sept 20-27 and it's also showing no availability at the BC. I hope it's a glitch because I would love them to join us.

Josh at easywdw says that the Disney resorts are often full even during slow times. The swing is more often offsite guests and locals.

I don't understand some people you want free dinning but not booked resorts. You can't have both people.

Ninja Mom wrote "Case in point: The Beach Club started renovations in October 2015 and is currently only on the second floor after renovating the small 5th floor, the 4th floor and the 3rd floor."

"Oct 2015" Did you mean to say a different year or a different month?

There are several large conventions booked for mid September, with convention room rates $169-$189 for BC & YC.

Even Orbitz does not show any available rooms.

The conventions' blocks of rooms will expire in August, so it pays to check back and not give up, if no other resort will do.

That makes sense!! I've been booked, but wanted to possibly change my room type to maybe a water view!! I will keep checking! Thank you!

I've also noticed in the past that rooms become unavailable right before Disney is ready to roll out their next promotion? I guess we'll wait and see :)
I completely understand the question ! It's odd to see the hotel appear "booked" around this time. I'm with you Ocalla -It's just an observation!!!!

Had to share my excitement - I just booked 7 of us for dinner at Cape May in September, after my dear dad offered to pay for us all as part of my birthday celebration! :-) We all love seafood, it will be our first time dining there. We will spend the day in EPCOT but will save some room and (hopefully) not overindulge at Food & Wine, then go see the Wilson Phillips early concert, then the Cape May buffet! Woohoo!

Checked our dates Augusu 20-31 and no availability at either BC or YC! We have free dining BB and the magical deal is that time so I guess that's why its full. It's scary though

LOL!!! Sorry but I was posting from the Ninja Mom Hot Tub Time Machine. Mentally I'm stuck in 1985 so some days the dates are darts, other days the dates are horse shoes. That particular horse shoe should say October 2014. I got that date from the info on the rehab updates posted on page one.

So did you do the advanced online checkin?

A lot of people ask if they should and what the advantages/disadvantages are.

It sounds like maybe your Magic Bands were already programmed for the original room and it was a little inconvenience when you switched rooms.

Am I interpreting that correctly or is that not what happened?

Thanks!

On my phone so hope this doesn't mess up. Yes we did on line check in. Room was ready around 12:15. We had just gone up to the club lounge and had time for a snack. We checked the room and it was great but not quite what we wanted. Went back and asked for the change. CM called and got the change and told us bands would not work for a bit because they were coded for the original room. List charging privileges for about 2 hours. Took a second trip to the desk to get room to open. Had to only have 1 magic band on the profile active. Bands have mostly worked. DD's wouldn't work for park entry 2xs and DS's still won't open the door but neither thing has been a huge issue. Watching the fireworks pool side now. Had a great day at Epcot. Celebrated DD's 21st drinking around the world. Good meal at Chefs. Hope everyone else here is having a great time too!

I forgot to say that I gave my room requests to IPO and the phone reservation CM. I made no requests with online check in.

For those of you planing trips in the future and are trying to figure out whether or not the construction will be completed, you will need to rely on Ninja Mom's Rules of Disney Construction!

1) If you have a trip planned and are desperate for construction to be completed it will not be finished in time.
2) If you have no idea that construction is even happening at your resort, chances are you won't realize that it is actually happening and will be amazed after your trip is over to find out that the entire Polynesian resort was covered in polyethylene sheeting during the entire length of your stay.
3) The jackhammers and circular saws will only be heard by people that are especially sensitive to noise, meaning those with bionic hearing. People who have more than one child will NOT be able to hear the noise from construction equipment over the roar of their family's sibling rivalries.
4) The chances of you receiving a refurbished room are directly inverse in proportion to the number of rooms that have been refurbished.
5) If the manager of the resort tells you that construction will be: Pick one, A) Started, B) Finished this information will be unreliable but if a BUS DRIVER tells you his cousin heard a bait shop salesman with a cousin that worked at Sea World say that the renovations would be completed yesterday then you can count on that as an indisputable fact.
6) There are no construction problems that 6 Sunken Treasures and a pile of Modern Art towel animals can't solve.

I would love to do that! A sunken treasure sounds good to me. I'm not staying CL (we're booked on a magical deal - paying about $200 per night for a standard room at the BC). But we could find somewhere to sit and chat, I'm sure. If not a lounge, we have the Solarium, right?

Last year my kids started school the day after we got back. This time, the school year doesn't begin until Tuesday. Why, I have no idea. Our school district is just weird when it comes to that sort of thing. I have to be at work bright and early, though. But we have a short flight and a hopefully painless drive home from BWI.

I would love to tour one of the cruise ships. My kids want so badly to take one of the Disney cruises. I'm *this* close to talking my husband into one over the Thanksgiving break in a few years. My kids are out of school from the Tuesday before through the Monday after (first day of hunting season is just as much a holiday in Pennsylvania as Thanksgiving). We'd have to take them out of school that one day, but I can't imagine they accomplish much the Monday before a week-long break...
We start school Tues too, because it's always the day after Labour Day that our schools open. Hope to be able to meet you, Robyn & Scott if it works out! Robyn will keep me informed of possible meet. Not to difficult getting from Poly to BC.

LIVE REPORT!!!!!!

I have no clue why I'm awake this early. I've been up since 5:20am. Grrrrr......

Anyway, I'm going to hijack this thread for a moment because I want to tell you about my tour on the Disney Fantasy. Do you want the long story or the short story? In short, it was AMAZING!!!!!

Here's a medium version. The Fantasy was nothing like I'd ever seen before! With that said, I've never set foot on a cruise ship before, but still. The grand staircase and surrounding area was just gorgeous. It evokes a Classic Disney feel. The colors, the peacock chandelier, the characters in the gold trim surrounding the area....Classic Disney. The staterooms are beautiful, even the smallest ones! Rooms with verandas, portholes or Magic portholes are all fabulous. Magic portholes show a live camera view from that exact spot on the ship. So neat!!!!

We dined outside at Cabanas and it was delicious! I didn't have time for dessert but those looked great too. All of the restaurants are beautifully themed...Artist's Palatte was my favorite but they are all totally unique and Disney. Palo and Remy are perfect for that special night out or for foodies.

I honestly kept forgetting I was on a ship. It feels like an amazing resort. The movie theater plays first run movies. The Walt Disney Theater is HUGE and beautiful and worthy of any Broadway show. It takes up an enormous amount of space on the ship...I think it spans 6 or 7 decks (upwards).

There is a ton of space that is adults only so it's very possible for someone to rarely see a child (if they're not yours, obviously). The kids will have a blast on this ship! I am envious of the kids who get to play there! Recreation is everywhere! Swimming, mini golf, foosball, basketball...it's all there with a Disney flair.

Our family will be taking a cruise on the next few years, I promise. Families were boarding as we were touring and I was so excited for them. They are going to have an amazing 7 days at sea! Magical Memories will be made, that's for sure!!!
