Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

I am looking forward to less planning with the cruise. Planning this WDW trip has made me crazy, We are spending all the money on this trip and to stress about where we will want to eat and when and what to ride when has just been too much. I love Disney but this fast pass stuff is stressful. For the cruise, I really don't think I have to pre plan too much, I don't even know if we would do any excursions.

I'm guessing TeenaS is the one giving the tour? It's a great ship. We had a wonderful cruise (the company we kept made it so) and we are looking forward to doing it again.
Got to ask, do you think the person who said it was speaking with inside knowledge of the situation? All we have seen from the DVC folks is that the start of the work has been delayed and no official start date has been set. If they have this inside knowledge and are speaking with some authority than it would be new information that all who read this thread will be interested to hear and Dee can put it on page one where she keeps us up to date on the refurb work. Otherwise, I'm keeping my hopes up that the BCV work is starting some time after the F&W event in Epcot. Just my thoughts on this. I'm there this December and will be making the best of the situation, regardless of what may or may not be happening. The BC/YC/BCV area is just too good to give up on because of a little work taking place.
Katesdad.

You are correct, they are not giving dates at all yet. I Emailed Member Services mid week. I asked if renovations had started, the current status and the projected completion date. This is the reply I received yesterday.

Thanks for posting this!

LOL!!! Sorry but I was posting from the Ninja Mom Hot Tub Time Machine. Mentally I'm stuck in 1985 so some days the dates are darts, other days the dates are horse shoes. That particular horse shoe should say October 2014. I got that date from the info on the rehab updates posted on page one.

People always say I am ahead of my time. Actually they don't.

Sorry about that! Can you let me know where I have the wrong date so I can correct it? Thanks!

Had to share my excitement - I just booked 7 of us for dinner at Cape May in September, after my dear dad offered to pay for us all as part of my birthday celebration! :-) We all love seafood, it will be our first time dining there. We will spend the day in EPCOT but will save some room and (hopefully) not overindulge at Food & Wine, then go see the Wilson Phillips early concert, then the Cape May buffet! Woohoo!
Sounds perfect! :) Enjoy some flourless chocolate cakes for me.

YES, MS is not revealing WHEN..Its anyone's guess now. Unfortunately, no one seems to know WHY?
Why? Well, that's the Disney way on a lot of their projects but in their defense, and being familiar with the construction industry, I know it's not always the contractor's fault as to delays taking place. But they should at least be able to say when it is going to start, IMHO. MikeyT, are you staying at BCV this January for the marathon? Maybe you will be our om-site reporter for all of this when you are there.

Just curious, is it possible for both YC and BC to be booked up completely for Sept 12-19 week? That is a very slow time, NO Food & Wine yet....just doesn't add up? Unless there is a major convention going on?

I've been wondering about this too. I just booked September 9-12 last week with a pin code, and was wondering about adding a day but the place is now completely full. It makes me really, really glad I pulled the trigger when I did!

I have just revised the front page posting about the resort refurbishments to include a current summary. This is what I have posted.

If anyone has anything you think I should add to this, let me know:

I'll repeat to say that I cannot wait to see what they do with YC rooms, since they did such an incredible job with the BC rooms!

BTW...one month from today, we'll be checking out of CR, putting in our obligatory time at AK (yes, I'm one of those people...but JNPants loves it)...and then checking into BC! :flower:

We will be arriving at MCO at 6.43 pm later this month. We are booked onto magical express. Is it conceivable that we could make it to Epot to watch the fire works? Not sure how long the journey will take etc, thanks in advance.

I'm thinking by the time you deplane, and make your way to the magical express station, and get on the bus, you are already looking at approximately 720 or 7:30 PM. It will take approximately 35 minutes to get from the airport to the first resort the bus is traveling to. If that resort is BC, that means you would arrive at the BC in a perfect world at about 8:05 PM. If check in happens to be a breeze, you could drop your bags in your room and certainly walk over to catch the Epcot fireworks at nine. If your bus stops at other resort(s), you can easily add approximately 15 minutes per resort. I think when I'm trying to say here is, there's a possibility you will make fireworks, but don't by any means expect to. If you get the opportunity, great! I hope that helps!

Yes that does help enormously. Should I pick up by bags from baggage reclaim and take them to the magical express bus or will this be done for us ?

If you checked your bags using the Magical Express yellow luggage tags your bags will be transported separately to your resort. No need to go to baggage claim to get them. Make sure you have your magic bands and any other things you may need right away with you in your carry on as your luggage may arrive several hours after you get to your resort. Hope you have a wonderful trip!

Since you are landing in the evening, I'd suggest not attaching the ME luggage tags and just getting the luggage yourself. This, of course, will add more time to your travels before getting to BC (and hamper your chances to see fireworks), but otherwise you'd have to wait until after 10-11pm to receive your luggage from bell services. Unless you're able to bring enough in a carry-on to get you through 'til bed.

Think we would be happier collecting.....that's assumingall the case make it to MCO from Phl ....we only got 1 of 3 last year and had to wait until the following afternoon before Us airways delivered it to our accommodation. The boys were ok as they shared under garments....mum was not so lucky and had to go commando ! This year we will take a small carry on with essentials !
