What’s for Dinner Tonight?

Take out pizza tonight. We were going to go to our favorite local Thai place which has awesome food and an amazing bar tender, but they are closed. The other two places here in town have either meh food and an OK bar, or OK food and an abysmal bar, and they are both $$$. Given the mountain of grading I need to do before Tuesday, the housework, and two different Thanksgiving meals on tap (one for Thursday, one for Saturday), I'm taking the easy way out.. and doing take out!

I made Hamburger Helper tonight since I didn't want to do too much cooking before T Day. Walmart delivered 96% lean ground beef, which I've never tried before, but oh my gosh it was SO disgusting. It takes a lot for me to throw out uneaten food, but this went into the trash. Thankfully, I had some leftover fried rice, so we ended up eating that for dinner.

I wonder, if the meat was bad. We eat 96% lean ground beef & can't tell much of a difference.

That wouldn't surprise me and it would make more sense. I feel bad for dissing 96% lean but I am used to 80% lean and the taste was definitely way different.
The fat content makes a big difference; much of what we think of as the "flavor" of the meat comes from the fat. We absolutely won't use 96% anything, and if we do get it (usually turkey or chicken) we need to add fat to the cooking pan to keep it from sticking and such.

Happy Thanksgiving 🦃 everyone!!
The guests are gone and my stomach still hurts!
We had Turkey, 3 kinds of stuffing- chourico, french meat, and bread, Carrots and turnips, butternut squash, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, rolls and gravy ( I think that’s it)
Dessert was pumpkin pie, apple crisp and oatmeal chocolate chip squares.

Happy Thanksgiving! Our guests are gone too. We had turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, mashed cauliflower, stuffing, roasted butternut squash, roasted brussels sprouts with bacon, peas, Kings Hawaiian rolls, cranberry sauce and green bean casserole. This year instead of traditional green bean casserole I made Skinnytaste's Green Bean Casserole. We all agreed it was way better than the original. For dessert my mom brought apple pie and pecan pie.

We are back home. I didn’t host this year. We had
Turkey
Mashed potatoes
Gravy
Glazed carrots
Green beans sautéed with garlic and almonds
Butternut squash
Homemade rolls
Cranberry butter (this was amazing I took the leftovers)
Winter salad
Orange cranberry sauce

I made the desserts (and rolls and cranberry sauce)
Apple crumb pie
Blueberry pie
Chocolate cream pie
Caramel apple cheese bars

We had lunch with our extended family. Turkey, ham, stuffing, gravy, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, baked beans, corn, broccoli cauliflower salad, deviled eggs, mac & cheese, pineapple casserole, rolls, sweet potato biscuits, pumpkin pie w/ Cool Whip, purple passion, banana pudding & brownies.

DH & DS decided we needed to have our family meal as well. Dinner is going to be pork roast w/ mushroom gravy, mashed potatoes, roasted carrots, mustard greens, Crescent rolls & more pumpkin pie w/ Cool Whip. In my defense, I didn't think we were having pumpkin pie at lunch. That was a last minute addition.

We ended up with turkey, stuffing, greens (nothing else in that salad), mashed potatoes, gravy, Kings Hawaiian rolls, corn bread muffins, cranberry sauce.
Pumpkin cheesecake, pumpkin pie, Lemon Meringue pie, Chocolate Chip Cheesecake Bars.
Home now.
Expected 90% of the comments today to have turkey at least once… considering today…

Had dinner at a Greek place last night with the family, I had pasta with a lemon sauce with artichokes, Spinach, roasted pine nuts and shrimp. It was really good. Baklava for dessert.

Dinner was traditional but catered from a local restaurant, BIL arranged it and we ate at his house.
Turkey/Gravy
Mashed red skin potatoes
Butternut squash casserole
Stuffing (that I didn't eat)
Caesar salad
Dessert was
cookies
pumpkin cheesecake
regular and Dutch Apple pie
Pecan Pie

Homemade macaroni and cheese, bagged Cesar salad. Dessert was a Chantilly Cream Cake (bar) with fruit topping from Sam's (which is surprisingly delicious, doesn't taste "fake" or greasy at all).

We are having traditional Thanksgiving dinner on Saturday as DD had to work today. My nephews will be coming up from Southern Maine to join us.
