Walking back to the resort from the parking lot this afternoon, we crossed the bridge by the villas and stopped to watch the turtles. Got the bonus of seeing the alligator!
We will be arriving at MCO at 6.43 pm later this month. We are booked onto magical express. Is it conceivable that we could make it to Epot to watch the fire works? Not sure how long the journey will take etc, thanks in advance.
Yes that does help enormously. Should I pick up by bags from baggage reclaim and take them to the magical express bus or will this be done for us ?
Think we would be happier collecting.....that's assumingall the case make it to MCO from Phl ....we only got 1 of 3 last year and had to wait until the following afternoon before Us airways delivered it to our accommodation. The boys were ok as they shared under garments....mum was not so lucky and had to go commando ! This year we will take a small carry on with essentials !
Illuminations is so much more than fireworks. It is fireworks, a laser show, fire, water, music. It is best experienced in Epcot around the lagoon. I would save it for another evening when you can fully experience its wonder.
I think picking up your bags at that time of night is a good idea. But I would then not even think about making it into Epcot for Illuminations that night. It is good to have your things, unpack and get ready for a great vacation. You should always pack essentials in your carry on for the first 24 hours. As you learned, airlines loose luggage all the time
Have a Great Vacation
It can take up to 2 hours for you to arrive at your resort and your bags can take an additional 2-3 hours. So your luggage may not arrive until 11 pm. If that's ok, then let them deal with itMy flight will arrive 45 minutes earlier at 6:00 pm. Do you really think it's necessary to get my own bags at that time? I was looking forward to skipping dealing with baggage claim. I will have a small carry on with me.

People always say I am ahead of my time. Actually they don't.
Sorry about that! Can you let me know where I have the wrong date so I can correct it? Thanks!
That is really cool! I hope you got pictures. Otherwise we might just think it is a croc. (Just kidding!)
It is seriously in Florida where in any body of water you have a very good chance of coming across a reptile or two who's ancestors go back well in time before ours. I beleive the staff at the resort had a name for the last one before it was captured and relocated. Perhaps this is its cousin? i beleive one of the old threads had a picutre of the one that was sunning itself in the parking lot next to a car a year or so ago.Seriously, are they alligators or crocodiles?
I hope this works. Here are the pictures of the gator at BCV.

If you look in the middle of the picture you can see the gator. He was by the walkway to the parking lot at BCV.

My DH thought it was really cool that the gator was by the BCV. At one point we were watching him as he disappeared under the water for a few minutes. A little boy wanted to see him and threw a piece of bread in the water. As soon as the bread hit the water, the gator shot up and had the bread in its mouth in a matter of seconds.
I wanted to put a full size picture of the gator by the BCV pool so it would be easier to see.

Thought I'd let you know that once a guest asked me to please remove the gator ... he was sunning himself out of the water near her car (it was a cold day). The guest was dead serious. I assume she thought I'd just go tell it to move and it would listen to me. Needless to say I told her "No I can't move it for you but I'll call Animal Control right away."
No worries, there have been many gators there and in all the lakes around WDW. I see them wherever I go. That's one of the reasons you don't swim in anything but the pools!! We have a whole department of people that go around and remove them and relocate them when they get to a certain size. Apparently (at least this is what I've been told) they have trouble catching some of them ... there are smart ones and not so smart ones ... I guess just like cats and dogs. Some take quite a while to psych out and actually catch.
I have our first ever cruise booked for Oct 2016 on the Disney Dream. I am very much looking forward to it
MikeyT, are you staying at BCV this January for the marathon? Maybe you will be our om-site reporter for all of this when you are there.
Katesdad
This time last week we were docked at Castaway Cay on the Dream. No sad face here. Nothing but great memories of our first Bahama Cruise!
You are correct. We were hoping stay in the new rooms when announced. Now just hoping they have started.
As a side note my son and his wife are expecting their first child. Due date-our check in date in January. Come on people. Can't you plan better than that?
I agree; at the hour you are landing, I would also NOT use the luggage service and get my bags myself.Since you are landing in the evening, I'd suggest not attaching the ME luggage tags and just getting the luggage yourself. This, of course, will add more time to your travels before getting to BC (and hamper your chances to see fireworks), but otherwise you'd have to wait until after 10-11pm to receive your luggage from bell services. Unless you're able to bring enough in a carry-on to get you through 'til bed.

Hi everyone, I'm in the early stages of planning a trip for July 2016 and had decided on YC instead of the BC to guarantee a room with a full balcony.
Does anyone know if the planned renovations will be finished by then, or should we just book BC to get a nice new room?
Thanks![]()
I've been wondering about this too. I just booked September 9-12 last week with a pin code, and was wondering about adding a day but the place is now completely full. It makes me really, really glad I pulled the trigger when I did!
we're staying the 3rd week in august and got the same letter about construction that's on the first page of this thread, but my parents, who are coming 3 days after us didn't get one. i'm anxious about the noise with my 1 year old and hoping she'll be able to get a nap in the room some of the days.![]()
Just got back from a fabulous first stay at the Beach Club! I think it may be our new favorite resort! The room was fabulous, the construction noise was barely noticeable and I don't think it could get any better than walking to and from Epcot. We were at the end of the resort nearest to Epcot and that great secret entrance worked so well for us. Our kids LOVED the pool and you can see the Frozen fireworks from the shallow end really well.
My only complaint was the QS and gift store is very plain and bare bones compared to other resorts. But other than that it was a wonderful vacation.
