Anyone renew their Sirius XM radio subscription lately?

I just got an email that offered $4 per month for 12 months with the Platinum upgrade for free. I'd only listen to it in the car as I listen to Amazon Music (part of our prime package) at the office. However, I like the idea of getting games on the radio. But I'm only in the car about 20 minutes to work and about 20 minutes back, and that's it unless I travel to watch football somewhere.

That sounds like the deal we took. My DH asked me to renew it when he was on his way to a football game so he could listen to other football games.

I just renewed 2 subscriptions for another year. I have been paying $6.06 all in each for the past year. This time I used the chat to contact them. Initially they said the same as my renewal notice, $23.05 a month each. I said I wanted to pay what I have been paying for the coming year. The rep said, we can do it, a bit better, $5.99 all in a month. I said fine, let's go for another year. Rep said to make sure to contact them again at next year's renewal time for a low price again. And I think the rep said it now included all sports.

That how to do it!!

I had Siriux XM radio before and I canceled it. I can listen to Pandora for free with minimal ads and Pandora has the same equivalent stations that I listened to on Sirius XM. Sirius XM, to me, has gotten expensive and is a waste of money. Also, I find Pandora has much better and even more stations I like than Sirius XM that I can access without paying a penny.

Why I think Sirius XM is trying to do is attract new subscribers by having promotions especially now that the holidays are here because you'll find promotions with offers such as "Listen to Christmas favorites with Sirius XM" or "Enjoy Santa's Favorite Songs with Sirius XM" but I cannot figure out how Sirius XM is making money? Because the way I see it I think "as I mentioned in my previous post on this topic" Sirius XM is not worthy of the membership price and there are other cheaper music apps that are worthy of buying such as Apple Music and Pandora. I think the only reason Sirius XM is making money is because people listen to the celebrity podcasts and exclusive stations from artists like Billy Joel and The Beatles and that seems to be their target audience

Because there are people who pay full price and don't bother to play the negotiation dance every year. Plus there are die-hard Stern fans who have, and will, stay until he retires no matter the cost.

I like it. But for what I listen to it's not worth the $25/month, so I play the game every year.

In our case, we don't want to tie up our cell phones listening to music. We have the receivers in our cars, and we have Dish Network so Sirius XM is free on that in the house. I don't think we have ever listened to exclusive channels, and since I have the most basic package, not sure that I even have access to them. We don't have access to the app at our level of service. Oh, and I have a Sirius XM boom box too, but rarely use it but is sounds better than anything off a cell phone.

Earlier this year I called into customer service for the annual ‘cancellation deal’. Was advised that if I want, I can receive a slightly higher price than I had been paying, but that I’d be locked into that price for as many months/years as I wished. I’m getting music, entertainment, and video for $6.99/mo + $1.50 royalty fee, so all-in for $8.49/mo. I’m good with that, so I don’t have to remember to phone in.

I think for $5 per month I can listen to any one of the 700 plus channels, any sport programs, any news I want in my car, in my house (Sonos) on my TV ( Xfinity) is a pretty good deal period.

Agreed! Almost forgot about using it in the house via Sonos. Literally as I was listening to it in the house… via Sonos 😆

This.
I asked a cashier in Kohl’s how they stay in business with all the coupons and Kohl’s cash.
She laughed and said there are so many people who use neither and pay full price. I was shocked.

I don't know. To me it shows me how much they normally mark up their merchandise because they are making money even if you do use a coupon on Kohls cash.

I locked in to that deal (though mine is a flat $9/month) about a year ago because I was tired of calling every 3-6 months and playing the game. But after reading some recent successful negotiating stories again, I think I might call and see what I can do. I was always successful with negotiating and the last few years it really was as simple as saying, "I want to cancel my subscription at the end of this promotional period because the regular rate is too high for my budget. If you can extend this same promotion (I was at $4.99 + fees/month for several years), I'd be willing to continue my subscription." That's all it took and they'd renew the promotion for X number of months. Then I got lazy and just took the $9 inclusive price so I didn't have to think about it anymore.

Use the app and chat. You won’t need to call.

17 years of having a Lifetime Membership (no longer offered) along with some vehicle transfer fees works out to less than $3 month. for us We have a LT subscription on 2 cars and free internet access on one of them. Sirius/XM is all we listen to in the cars.

Haven’t had it for about 6 months. Got an offer for $1/month for 3 months yesterday on their website and accepted as we like Xmas music. Will cancel before the $25/month starts (I am in CA so I can cancel online).

Just renewed Music & Entertainment via Chat. Seems to get 95% of what Platinum offers and I'm not bothered about the few channels I lose. Was paying just over $6/month - first offer was $5.99 inclusive of taxes/fees - I said no and immediately came back with $4.99/month inclusive which I accepted.

This was my most painless renewal process. Took less than 5 minutes on Chat.

At certain times of the year they offer XM in your car for free. We were driving out of town for Thanksgiving and noticed the service was available even though we didn't subscribe............works for me..............LOL. AFTER Thanksgiving was over, it no longer works. No idea if they plan to do the same thing around Christmas, but will wait and see. Don't really listen to the car radio that often to make it worth paying for.
