Disney Dream January 3, 2012

CAN.NOT.WAIT.

Booked this week...soooooo excited!! It will be me, my DH, our DDs (9) and (3) It's a cruise celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary in December and my 40th birthday in February.

We are considering a 4-night stay at Pop Century before we sail but DH needs a little bit more talking into because he doesn't want to deal with the holiday crowds. :rolleyes2

I'd love to join in on the exchange! Don't know quite what it is yet but the ideas these boards come up with only make Disney more magical!

just booked this today...had to change our alaskan...:( looking ahead to the dream though. probably doing 4-5 days at disney before hand...at bonnett creek.

is there a master list of travelers or a webpage/facebook page for this group?
Do you think the ship is full? Seems like a small group here...maybe lots of non-dis'ers!

WELCOME, EVERYONE!

It seems our cruise is booking quickly, as I've tried to book a stateroom for friends and the DCL site only sohws the most expensive ones!

We thought of doing WDW before the cruise, but we did it before the New Years Cruise on the Magic last January and the parks were so crowded that we don't feel encouraged to do it again( Sorry if this is a spoiler) . We will arrive a couple nights before and stay at a Disney Resort ( we haven't chosen which one yet) , but we won't be going to the parks.

I checked on resorts last night - coming in around the 27th INSANE prices for deluxe. I was hoping to splurge...but I put in a Bonnett Creek request so we'll see what they have available. I'm sure we'll do the parks before hand.

That is why we picked the week we did. We wanted to do the cruise over N.Y but the price was crazy, double what we got for the week we are going for the same room.

If all goes well we will drive down and stay somewhere and drive straight back for school on the Monday. This of course is if school is out the week we want to go. Fingers crossed. Lots of school are out the week before Christmas and the week after. This year we were out two weeks after so I hope they keep it the same.

Funny think is I didn't like them going in so late this year but it to my advantage this year.

We're planning on a week at the parks (off-site at Windsor Palms) after the cruise for that very reason--I'm a low-crowds sort of gal! :) Hopefully, the ship won't feel like it's super-full. There's so much to do, though, so hopefully everyone gets distributed well.

We always try to book an inside stateroom but we were stuck having to pay for the balcony, which I prefer to a different week where the kids need to miss school. I'm hopeful at the 75 day mark there will be people who back out and we can switch to an inside room.

Thanks for mentioning the busy parks. Two cruises ago we came down a day early stayed at POFQ and enjoyed the pools and downtown disney. Thought it was a great way to start our trip. Maybe I'll plan for that again instead of the parks.

Our school is out the two weeks after Christmas next year. I would bet yours is too.

the FL schools in this area are out the last two weeks of December. I was thinking the girls were out the last week of Dec and first of Jan, so they will miss a week, but I am ok with that.

With this cruise seeming so "booked" this is a certainly small group, wish we were closer, I found a great thing for FE's, but only if the exchange is small could I afford to do it.

If this will make you feel better, we sailed the NY cruise on the Magic. The ship was all booked and still we were able to enjoy it a lot. There was never a time we felt like the ship was crowded. Being that the Magic is way smaller than the Dream, I think we should be allright! :goodvibes

My daughter's school went back right after N Years. If this happens again I will ask her teacher for a homework packet, as the price for the NY cruise is practically double !

got my quote back and for around $1k can get 5 nights in the 2 bdroom, so I think we may do that. Although I really would like to do a cruise before this one...5 nights just seems so short!!

Hope everyone is well....where is everyone from?

Fl here.

I kind of figured you were from MI by your user name!! At least we are double dipping Castaway Cay!!

Is there a roll call page or anything? Hopefully as the cruise gets closer the group will be more active. I'm used to being 3 or 4 pages behind all the chatter so this is a change for sure!!

How many DCL cruises has everyone been on? Is this a first for anyone?

This is our first on the Dream....

we've done quite a few but the Panama Canal crossing was my favorite!

We're old hands at Disney, but this is our first cruise of any sort. We're following it up with a week (off-site) at Disney.

We're from northern VA, by the way, and we'll be driving down. We may drive down a few days early to stay with the grandparents in Tampa, too.
