Princess Half Marathon Weekend 2026 (Feb 26-Mar 2, 2026)

Just an fyi to anyone going to MCO this afternoon. It appears everyone at the airport is struggling with it simultaneously being their first day on the planet AND their first trip to an airport.

I have sky priority and TSA touchless, and it still took us nearly 40 minutes to get our bags checked, thru security, and to the gate.

I hope it’s just an extra bad case of the Mondays, and things will get better tomorrow.

Now that I have a little time to focus on my thoughts, here’s a question for the group.

How do you deal with not liking ANY of the photos you’ve gotten? I know a large part is that I’m unhappy with how I look in general.

And there are some funny ones. I have one where I’m clearly side-eying the person next to me, and one of my Main Street photos look like I’d rather be dragged behind a horse than running in magic kingdom. And there’s one where my skirt had slid so far up it looks like I wore as a tube top and shorts combo 😂

I want to be excited to share my achievement. I finished a half marathon! I completed the entire princess weekend (minus yoga). But I feel like every photo just makes it look like I barely survived everything, which really wasn’t the case.

Sometimes it’s like a bad hair day, things just don’t look how you want them to for no real reason. Race photos are a big way of how I remember the races. And almost every race weekend there’s at least one race where I end up looking rough (woke up on wrong side of the bed, hot and humid so I’m a sweaty mess, just couldn’t work the camera that day  ). So the more races you do, the more chances you have. I find I like how I look far more in posed character photos, and I’m lucky to have 1 candid shot I like per race. So I make sure to prioritize character photos.

For candids, it’s 75% luck and 25% practice. You get better at spotting the photographers with experience and knowing when to “pose” and what looks good, what doesn’t.

We are our own worst critics though, so try not to be too hard on yourself. A lot of people that have really nice photos spend hours getting ready, and purposefully slow down to walk by the cameras and get a bunch of shots so they can pick the best one. And if you wear an elaborate outfit, you will probably get more photos because the photographers will be drawn to you! And just know for every good photo, there are like 20 bad ones :rotfl:

Here’s a side by side of two pictures taken from the same photopass CM within a second. I lucked out and the CM hit the shutter twice, I hate the first picture but love the second. It’s the same me in both pictures!

that made me chuckle. thank you

it was weird today, the lines would get really busy and then clear out. people were definitely struggle bussing. mears got me there REALLY early so i camped out for a bit until it was my time to get in line. this was around noon and terminal A.

I was signed up but did not go. After the half yesterday, I went back to the room and showered, ate, did some packing, put on my firefly recovery devices and went to MK to meet @Herding_Cats and get medal pics. We had lunch and ended up park hopping to Epcot for Guardians and Brown Elephants, then to Studios for Midway Mania. We went back to the hotel for a clothing change, more food and to check if my mom wanted to join (she did not), then headed back to MK for fireworks. So yeah, I went 20+ hours yesterday with no nap but we had so much fun! I crashed HARD and did not get up for yoga. I had no room in my luggage for a yoga mat I'll never use anyway, and I have zero FOMO.

I'm at the airport waiting to board my flight home in about 15 minutes.

It was super efficient yesterday! They had you stop at two photographer stations and you could use your own medals or their setup. I got some good shots that I'll share a bit later. I also ended up with another person's shots at one station, so I need to post those to the FB groups in hopes of finding their owner. (Edit: Found her!)
I ended up doing my own photoshoot by the castle. 😂

>> You should probably have your ID in case of emergency, but you don't need it in order to race.

This. I always have my license on my just in case something goes awry. I figure that the one time that I don’t, that is when something will happen.

>> I have never gotten on a bus this late—I had some technical difficulties getting into my costume.

But it was worth it; great costume

>> My lights crapped out on me between the room and Epcot! Cheap pieces of crap!!

Well, crap.

>> I just pre warned my daughter of the possibility that it might be canceled. She said “we are SO putting our costumes on and doing our 10K around the resort then!”

This is so cool

>> How do you deal with not liking ANY of the photos you’ve gotten?

It means I need to go back again (meaning another race weekend) for better photos….

Love the group jump photo @nancipants

10K Race report: Got up early on Sat and after staring blankly at the vacant light pole and wondering where everyone was, I checked my phone and saw that everyone was… right behind me at a stand-up table. Good to see everyone that was there. As always, don't be shy about approaching and joining the conversation.

The pre-race rain was minimal, but persistent, so I put the poncho on in the corral, then discarded it when we began the start shuffle. I started with @Herding_Cats and @The Expert and after the first mile or so took off (relatively speaking, me being Team Middlin’ Fast) and spent the next hour basically trying to do as much as possible. My race highlight was the Polynesian drummers in Epcot. The drum on the end was vacant and they let me jump in and drum for a few minutes. Musically-challenged me was ecstatic that I was able to actually match the drumming rhythm and drum with them and not make a mockery of things. It was a blast! Not wanting to overstay my welcome, I told them thanks and headed off. Sadly, I doubt if anyone has a photo or video of me doing it.

The course was great. The pea-gravel-in-concrete portion of Boardwalk was, for me, the slipperiest part of the course. Didn’t slip, just noted that my shoes didn’t have a lot of traction on it. Somewhere back in Epcot, I caught up with @Naomeri, said hi and kept going.

Another highlight is that I did a jump photo. And the photog caught me in mid-air. AND that I didn’t hurt myself….

With the pre-race character photos cancelled, I didn’t get one, but they said they’d be out there afterward. After the race, I realized I really had no where pressing to be, so I got in line for Moana and was really pleased with how well that picture came out.

Post-post-race report: the DW’s company put us up in the GF, and our room had a view of the single-file path walkway to the MK. I woke up at 5:30 (not on purpose; call of nature) and heard spectating noise, peeked out the curtains and could see the serpent all lit up and the mass of runners headed to the MK. When I later got up for good, it was daylight and there were still runners. So cool to see from that perspective.

Glad to see everyone. Next race in two weeks: the MW signup.
