Final report! - Cant believe I booked Super Bowl weekend -

What ship, season, and itinerary is your first DCL sailing? It should definitely be better that CCL in a tropical storm, but some itineraries are generally smoother than others…I always recommend shorter itineraries that are all or mostly port days for a first sailing to see if you actually tolerate being at sea (also, packing seasickness meds, just in case).

Also, keep tabs on the advance booking windows— the first sailing makes it more challenging to reserve stuff, but there’s plenty to do on the ship if you don’t reserve anything—however, everyone one has an equal chance of reserving the (free) Royal Gathering at the 30 day window and if you have kids it’s something they may want to do (and will have to walk by other kids doing, if you miss it).
4 days on the Wish. Hurricane season 🤣

Usually they are pretty good about diverting from hurricanes….I assume you will be in port 3 of the 4 days? We’ve done several cruises in fall on 3 day weekends and haven’t had more than a few hours of rough sailing total…the ship will move a bit more as the night goes on but most people are asleep (or so inebriated they don’t notice) by then.

We have one day at Castaway, one day at Lookout, and one day at sea.

I scored a Topolinos! So I will take the Skyliner over to RIV in April and then bus to MK from there. Since we are gonna take it slow in April might as well do DVC research too!
How are you getting back home? Hopefully you can monorail or boat back.

We all know that one bus from RIV will be enough of a test for you

You know what.. I will take the bus back to RIV for the full RIV / MK transport experience. Then Skyliner back to BW. My son asked to go on the Skyliner 30 times this last trip, and I had to be like no dude there is no time or reason for that!
Sounds good then you can walk or boat back from there :)

Now how to incorporate getting onto the monorail to knock off another mode of transport with you not going into the parks :)

We are gonna go to all the parks. Just not making rides and parks a priority and for sure not rope dropping 😴 We will be going over to AK to do Caring for Giants. I will spend most time at HS or Epcot though since it's close to BW and I promised DH he could work on this trip. Boo!
