Disney Dream January 3, 2012

Did it thanks to you NAB!

We are surely getting there a few days before the cruise, but I think we'll enjoy the hotel mostly. We're not doing the parks this time.:)

No problem...I love seeing pictures.

I think we will be driving down since the kids will be off school the week before too. Only thing is making it back for school on Monday, or if Hubby has to work the Sunday.

Plus you just never know about the weather.

wow driving from canada? That's a long trip!

I'm so anxious for this trip....I'm reading my group's Alaska thread that we just cancelled and they all just booked thier excursions....gotta keep thinking we'll be coming up...(in several months!!!)

I think it would take 22 hours give or take. We do road trips in the summer all the time. Spent 5 weeks last summer driving in to Califorina and SF.

We have a 26 ft trailer. The first trip we took with it was to Florida and parked it in POR parking lot.:lmao: It was a compromise for me. I hate to camp but my hubby and kids love the trailer. For me it is work. So a week a WDW in a hotel was great. Must say it was nice to walk out to the trailer and get snacks and breakfast because it was literally right outside our door.

Would love to do the Alaskian cruise too...maybe someday.

From the looks of the airfares I've been getting, I am also considering driving from Michigan.... That would also save on a rental car in Fl....

I have the same scenario here, NAB, hubby needs to be back on Monday....

Happy Monday everyone...well, now we are into April....we'll be there before too long!!

Not much going on here...beautiful weather here in FL this past weekend...was outside a lot in the pool and working in the yard. This coming weekend we are heading to Gainesville for the spring Orange and Blue game and then Sunday my daughter has a softball tournament - the beginning of their travel ball playoffs.

Hoping to head to Disney in either june/july/august for a week....probably more like august - the week before school starts. My girls only have this month and May and one or two days in june and they are out for the summer! I can't believe it~!

My four year old asked me this morning if we were going on the Mickey Boat soon! :) Not for a while, dear. The anticipation is so much fun, though!

That is why we picked the week we did. We wanted to do the cruise over N.Y but the price was crazy, double what we got for the week we are going for the same room.

If all goes well we will drive down and stay somewhere and drive straight back for school on the Monday. This of course is if school is out the week we want to go. Fingers crossed. Lots of school are out the week before Christmas and the week after. This year we were out two weeks after so I hope they keep it the same.

Funny think is I didn't like them going in so late this year but it to my advantage this year.

NAB - I'm from Toronto too. I live in Etobicoke. Our schedule is already out and the kiddies don't go back until January 9! :cool1:

We're actually going to be at Bay Lake Towers from NYE until the cruise, then at Animal Kingdom for 6 days after cruise so my kids will get an extra week of Christmas vacation. Cursed DVC! But I have to take my vacations in early January since I am in real estate. By mid-January things already start getting busy!

Looking forward to seeing everyone on my birthday cruise!

I'm just now catching up on all the posts. I thought I was subscribed to this thread, but apparently not.

I cannot find on the dvc club website about my cruise. Grrr. (just saw the note from Theresa-MI and I'll check the dcl site instead. OK, now I'm putting in my reservation number and it's not working, either.) I don't remember which cabin we're in. We are from Alabama, in the NW corner. We drive down (I hate flying!) and spend the night the night before in a hotel, and after the cruise drive all the way home. It's nearly 13 hours (we must be closer to Canada than I thought! 22 hours from Canada to the ship doesn't seem all that far).

I would also be interested in the fish-extender thing, I think. Not really sure.

The 22 hours is straight there with no stops so it will take longer with two kids , bathroom breaks , gas and food fill ups.

I to can't remember what room we picked...I think is on the 7th deck though, I could be wrong .m This is our first veranda room, we always have been on Deck 1 but the Dream doesn't have rooms on that floor anymore.

Okay, I finally found my stuff. I was entering the wrong number on the reservation thingy. My brain is just mush! Ready for a CRUISE!!;)

So glad there are some other little girls my DD's age going (she'll be 7, first grade). She can't wait to meet all her new friends.

We're in cabin 9588. We used DVC points for most of us, and some cash for the going-to-be 19 yo son.

Is there internet access in the cabins? :surfweb: Our 19 yo (son) would love that. I think the FOOD plus internet would make him happy, he wouldn't care where he is.

The 15 yo (son) absolutely LOVES the teen stuff. Loves it!

I've seen the posts on fish-extenders; people getting all excited about it but what kinds of things do you bring for gifts for that? I am totally clueless. We've been on two Disney cruises but did not do that before.

I'm looking at the Gifts and Amenities page (I'm sure some things will be different for our Winter sailing) and I'm happy to see they have reasonable pricing...seems like in the past, those were out of reach for me.

Ending this novel now! :rotfl:

I'm not sure about access on the Dream - I took my laptop on the Magic and could get internet access in my cabin (had to pay for it though).

As far as gifts - I'll be ordering gift baskets from Shirley for the girls and probably one for DH (and me!!)....and maybe ordering the Bon Voyage - or just the champagne, I think we ordered it before and realized that the food was wasted!!

Fish Extenders....we've had all kinds of things - binoculars, mouse pads, notebooks, all kinds of cool stuff.

beautiful weekend here....my daughter had ball all weekend - her travel team is now finished...but rec ball is only half way through. They only have a month and a couple weeks left of school - I know they are ready for summer.

My husband keeps after me to join the meet for our cruise so that I will just stop trying to change our vacay plans ! I was waiting to post here until after the NYC prices were posted because if we could have save money on airfare we would have switched to a 5 night Canadian. Since the price was over $1300 more then we are paying on the Dream it will not be cheaper - maybe close to breakeven if we fly but I think we will like the double dip more then Canada.

So, here we are. Cruising will be DH, Myself, DD 11(month shy of 12) and DS2(few days shy of 3). This will be our second cruise ever and our second on the Dream. We did a 3nt on the Dream Feb 3rd of this year. Stupidly we did not re-book on board - with only 3 nights we felt rushed and I did not take the time out to go to the future cruise desk - since there was always a line. The kids do not know - my daughter will be estatic. She talks about the Dream and Edge all of the time. I am going to suprise her I just haven't thought to what extent ... I may just lie and tell her we are doing Disney for Jack's 3rd birthday and then she will know where we are when we get to port.

Jan 3 is our 5 year wedding anniversary and my son, daughter, and I all have birthdays that fall within 2 months of the sailing so it will be a big party !

Looks like I have 7 pages to read to get caught up. Talk to you all soon

I did not know internet access was available on the Magic. Since that is so, then I'm sure it will be on the Dream as well. It would be worth the cost for my teenager. He will be happy with that and the food. :rotfl2:

thanks for the ideas for the extenders. I can handle that, and figure out something fun.

My kids are ready for summer, too. Right now we are missing spring break so we can get done early in May. If we stop for a week off (we homeschool; the schools here are out now) I will not be able to get their momentum back up to finish at a decent time. :teacher: So, mean mommy it is.

Hi Lillygator!

Hi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is Tuesday already, but very happy to see you here!!!! :)

WELCOME TO OUR GROUP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :yay:

Luci's Momma,

I've done Fish Extenders and it is so much fun! As for gifts, nothing too fancy or ellaborate unless you're in the mood for it! Got a lot of candy, stickers, post cards from everyone's hometowns...

Look up the threads available on them, that's pretty much it! :)

Wow! Was checking staterooms for our cruise for a family of friends on the DCL site and only the most expensive ones are still available!!!!

I think we'll sail on a fully booked cruise!

I am on the quest for airline tickets... haven't found any good deals yet, though... :sad1:

We might really end up driving... Let's see...
