Hi Callie! Love the pic of your neice! Totally adorable.

We went to my nephews' flag football game today. It was COLD and windy, but I love that weather so it was great to be out on a cold crisp day. Their team lost. It was the championship and they were playing a powerhouse team that was undefeated. They held their own though. Both of my nephews caught touchdown passes.

Well tomorrow was supposed to be DD16's birthday trip to see "A Chorus Line" on Broadway. :sad2: Barring a minor miracle that's now out of the picture, but we decided we'd take the train into the city anyway and just play it by ear. We're thinking about touring NBC studios if it doesn't involve crossing the writer's picket lines!:scared1: I'm wondering if all the touristy places will be packed because the out of towners will have nothing to do in the afternoon with the stage hands' strike or if the city will be empty because all the people who were just going for the day will stay home:confused3 . Good news is it is supposed to be a beautiful fall day, 50 degrees and sunny!:thumbsup2 We will, of course, go to the WOrld of Disney store!:goodvibes

looks O.K., had to mow, and then dig up a couple of palm trees. Neighbor wanted one (they are small) I didn't plant them, they just grew in my back yard.

DW had another sewing design program for her computerized machines! it allows you to plug in all the "measurments" and then design clothing for that "Mannequin" and it give a 3d picture of the result. You can change fabric, accessories, etc. When you are happy, you can print out a pattern, or transfer it to a thumb drive for an automted machine. Or save to a file!

That, coupled with her computer embrodery machine keeps her a little busy!!:woohoo:

:rotfl2: I grew up in the Midwest and DW cannot get over the fact that I call orange jello with shaved carrots "Salad," or lime jello with fruit cocktail "fruit salad!":woohoo: :lmao:
Hey...Welcome Grumpy Pirate....i'm originally from the MW too & yep - loved orange jello with carrots & pineapple in mine.....

Here's a funny discussion that I had with DDs yesterday afternoon!

THey were commenting on the fact that you need gum to get through the day at school. THis always amazes me as we were not allowed to chew gum at school. So I mentioned that if we were caught chewing gum at school, we would get detention.

They told me that was a ridiculous rule. They wanted to know why we couldn't chew gum, but were allowed to bring guns and knives to school and had a smoking lounge. It is amazing to think about this, but I grew up in avery rural area and most of the teachers and guys in HS hunted. They would hunt before and/or after school so would bring their rifles and hunting knives and keep them in their locker or in gun racks in their trucks. Never had any problems and never gave it a second thought. It was just a way of life I guess. The smoking lounge was a solution to foggy bathrooms where the smokers would go to sneak a cigarette. If you had a note from your parents you could smoke in the smoking lounge (really an outdoor patio off of our cafeteria). Also the drinking age was 18, so on our senior trip to QUebec, the chaperones were absolutely fine with us ordering wine or beer with our meals and having a huge mega party at the hotel with alcohol. THe chaperones weren't allowed to drink, but the kids were!

Can you imagine any of this happening today? But we we not allowed to chew gum!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I graduated in 1980.
Okay we sure didn't have a "smoking lounge" - now the teachers had a lounge & yeah they WERE smokin' in there!!!! but it was '75 & Iowa.....

Gooooooooooood Mornin!

You haven't told me....so the story for Club 33 is that my friend Dana who always go to DL with me the 1st Monday of Nov (while our hubbies golf) had her BD in Sept., so thought what a better BD gift than lunch at 33...she has NEVER been. So that a.m. we get to the park, waiting in line to get in & I tell her what we're doing to celebrate. She's like "okay sounds nice"....while we are standing there some people behind us from Texas who come to DL alot are telling us about their '50th' bd & how their kids bought one of the stones with the castle for DL's 50th anniversary in '05. she turned 50 that year. then they also had taken a ride on the "Lillybelle" the day before....so i proceed to tell them about our lunch at 33 & they were SOOOOO excited for us...just like little kids & then dana felt kinda bad they were more excited about our lunch than she was. Sooooo we get to the club...go in & their running a little behind....so we have to wait...the hostess starts checking out our shoes - to be sure they pass their guidelines (they were leather sandals or slides but you can't wear flipflops....anyway they passed - we were seated at a nice window table overlooking the French Quarter & lagoon where i could see Capt Jack over on Tom Sawyer island. We had a yummy lunch & even better dessert bar.....AND by the time it was all over - Dana 'got' why a ressie at Club 33 was / is just SOOOOO cool!!! Pics later - i haven't even been home yet long enough to unpack my camera.....
taking DS back on Dec 7th....DL is unveiling the holiday celebration nov 16th which we were going to go down for.....but i need to be at the HS on sunday 18th now...so have to postpone...
