Packing help needed for resort only stay. I have a cruise in the middle of my resort stays. I'll only have in room laundry on my very last day.

Do people bring/use fins and goggles at the pools? Specifically at the Polynesian and at Beach Club. I'm on the fence about buying a set and bringing it for the cruise rather than paying $80 to rent on the islands. If I might use it at the resorts, that might motivate me to go buy a set.

Do I need an umbrella? We'll be taking Disney transportation around to some of the other resorts to check them out and I've been told before that it rains every afternoon in August.

Do I need a raincoat? I have a DCL one that I bought in 2012 and am kind of happy that I might be able to use it again finally, but I don't want to overpack.

Any other last minute things that people usually don't think about?

I would bring an inexpensive, disposable poncho (that takes up less room), and definitely a travel umbrella. If you’re buying a new one, try to get one that has UV protection as well.

I’d also consider bringing a portable fan even if only used poolside.

(Can’t comment on fins and goggles).

Have an amazing time!!

Thank you!

How much do the fin and goggles cost? Would you use them outside of this trip? I don't know about using them at the pool. If you only use them on this trip might be simpler to just rent, then you aren't lugging them around and tripping over them at home. This will also give you more room to bring other things home. 😁 I hope you have a great trip!

Ive only been at the end of May. I am going again in August/Sept so this will be a fun thread to follow.

I can say for sure have some sort of rain jacket or poncho and umbrella. It was pouring rain when we arrived at SSR and I had no protection from the rain and to get to the restaurants etc from the bus stop there was no cover. Cooling fans and/or towels are a must. In late May I did resort tour hopping and I used my neck fan the entire time.

I could buy a set of fins and goggles for less than the cost of one rental. I'll be on another cruise in the spring. I anticipate renting equipment 4 times, weather permitting, if I don't bring my own. As far as otherwise using them, I had a set that I used in my own pool one season and while I enjoyed it, I've been swimming without it for many years since then. I'd use it if I had it, but definitely don't miss it when I don't have it.

No immediate plans for Aulani, but love to snorkel in Hawaii.
Fins are not allowed in the pools.
Strike one for buying a set to bring along.

I just can't imagine. 🤣 I'm sure I'll have a blast experienceing it. Going on Amazon to look for a neck fan right now.

Following (I'm also doing a resort stay in August)

My random thing that I like to pack is a waterproof watch. I like to have it when I'm in pools because I leave my phone in the room and there's never any clocks anywhere

Would it be ridiculous to think that I'll be wearing nicer clothes with a thicker material/long sleeves at night or for meals or should I just resign to being a wet mess with frizzy hair and wishing I had brought lighter shirts and shorts throughout

I wear sundresses exclusively in August - anything else and I just feel gross. I usually bring a lightweight cardigan for attractions/meals when the A/C is high but can’t imagine anything heavier.

(No amount of hairspray can help my hair so I really lean into the ‘waves’ 🤣)

This is why I can’t commit to nice dining in the summer. I was a hot mess in May.

Ugh I was afraid of this. I went to the mall and saw so much cute clothes that would go with the European themeing that I want to wear to riv and portofino, but im afraid I'll be dying.

For reference, this is the kind of thicker material im talking about is this insane to think I'll be wearing this during the day

I couldn’t do it. Even my cardigan is a mesh material…breathability is key!

If you will go parks during the day, come back at some point to rest/change before evening and won’t be walking a lot before/after dinner…it could work.

But if you’re walking any more than 10-15 min, game over. I’m sorry. Over the years I’ve acquired a wardrobe that is exclusive to ‘Disney in August’!!

You can wear swim googles but you can’t snorkel in a crowded pool.

Definitely need some sort of rain protection. It’s jungle hot with high humidity in Aug and Sept. So lightweight, moisture wicking clothes.

Thank you im going to stop trying to make fetch happen lol

My hair doesn’t frizz, it just goes flat, and I probably dislike it as much as you dislike yours. But I’ve given up worrying about it - park hair, don’t care!
My problem is I’ve started wearing a hat so then I have Florida hat hair. I took my hat off at Space 220 and I could feel how flat it was. I’d prefer frizzy.
