Guide to USB Power Bricks - Power Traveler (DVC) Edition

Here are some good all purpose cables for charging -

For lower power/slow charging - USB C to C. Cant go wrong with these cheap Amazon Basic cables. Also like the fact that you can get them in the 3 foot option.

For higher quality short cables that will charge your devices such as a tablet, chromebook, or power bank a little faster here is a good C to C option.

For longer C to C cables that will go up to 60 or 100W of power these Anker 5 packs go on sale all the time for around 15 bucks for a 5 pack. Not good for data but great for giving power to laptops, tablets, etc.

These USB A to USB C adapters give your bricks some flexibility and are a great way to turn the "faster" C to C cables into slow charge cables by plugging them into a 15W A port.

If you want the classic A to C cable option that will slow charge your phones and also work well with some devices that don't like being plugged into USB C (I have a few park fans that don't like USB C to C) here is a good cable in a few sizes that works well -
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07214QNQX (this one may be an older model and I cant find the 3FT option but I do have a few)
https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Charger-Charging-Samsung-Galaxy/dp/B0BPCBP15P (seems to be the new version that you can get in different sizes)

If you need a high quality 10Gbps cable that can also be used to plug into a portable SSD or similar device to transfer data as well as also charge up stuff here are a few good options as along as you don't mind paying a few more $$$ -

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07213D35X (3 foot A to C)
https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=24287 (3 foot A to C - good value compared to the Anker)
https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=39241 (3 foot C to C also rated at 100W PD)
https://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters-USB-IF-Certified-Delivery/dp/B01L0F6AJI (surprised this is cheaper than the monoprice option as usually this is a more expensive brand - 3 foot C to C also rated at 100W PD)

And I have to share these old faithful cables that are kind of outdated as they are only 5Gbps USB 3.0 rated but I've had a few sets for 7 to 8 years now and they are chunky/well built and if I had to ever grab a cable to use as a zip line device to repel down MacGyver style this would be the one I'd bet my life on -

Did I mention I was a cable nerd :)

Update on the usb hub testing. All MB+ charged fine on the USB hub using the C to A adapter. Grabbed another batch of them that were dead and plugged the hub directly into the USB A port. Seem to be charging fine. Will see how long they take to charge from dead. They seem to be very low power devices and if this hub charging works, this is awesome and will be a new item I grab and pack for trips to keep me from having two chargers in the MB+ spot (or at least give me more flex if we add more to the mix - @MrsNVDISFamily likes to have them all charged up so she can match the best one with the outfits of the day).

Edit - In the few minutes it took to post they already are charging to two green lights on the usb A port. Looks good.

I couldn't find my USB-C to USB-A hub, but I had an older USB-A to USB-A hub lying around. But rather than plug in a USB-C to USB-A converter and plugging it into the a USB-C charging port - I plugged it into the USB-A port of my Anker Prime 200W charger and its currently charging 4 Magicbands with no issue. A few were completely dead and didn't light up at first but eventually started blinking red to indicate they are charging. I'm not really concerned with how quickly they recharge since we usually only charge Magicbands overnight.

I decided to buy both the octupus style USB-C to USB-A splitter as well as one of the really thin USB-C to USB-A hubs from Amazon along with a more traditional USB-C to USB-A hub and can report back on how well those work too.
