We are going out with my cousins today to P.F. Chang's. We'll then do some shopping and maybe catch a movie. We are supposed to have severe storms this afternoon so we will probably be hiding out in the mall.

WFD at your house?

ETA: I have to tell you guys a hilarious story you will appreciate. Last night at church we had Famous Dave'e BBQ. At the end of the serving table were 3 desserts: banana pudding, brownies, and something I couldn't identify because the top was covered in Cool-whip and candy sprinkles.

Well when I went back for dessert, I went for the mystery. I got me a spoonful of it and I just about lost it. I made it back to my table barely containing my giggles. My husband asks, "What's so funny?" Still laughing, I pointed to the dessert. He said, "What about it?" I leaned over and told him what was so funny.

It was "Better Than Sex Cake."

:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

I have never had it at church before and for some reasons it just sent me into hysterics.

Y'all are killing me with your fast food fish stories!! We had a great afternoon and evening. Kyle pitched a great game and after the game we went with a group of other parents to a local seafood restaurant and had an awesome meal....Chargrilled oysters and fried softshell crabs topped with a crabmeat sauce. Some other folks got "Da Kajun Boat" it was an eggplant pirogue golden fried topped with shrimp and crabmeat in a cream sauce. It looked amazing! Now I'm having yet another glass of wine and watching the Food Network!:goodvibes

That eggplant sounds so good. I too always wanted to try the soft shell crabs but I can't get past the idea of eating through the shell. :confused3

Thanks everyone for all the birthday wishes for Liam! It was a crazy day here trying to pull everything together, but in the end, it all worked out. The Wii arrived; Liam was very excited, and I managed to get it set up before Liam's friends from the neighborhood came. I think he had a great day./QUOTE]

I'm glad Liam had a special day

I think I would have lost it too. It isn't the kind of dessert you would expect at a church dinner. So how was the dessert. I don't think I had one with cool whip before. I have a killer chocolate cake recipe that I changed the name to protect Mr Alex.

Last night we had a healthy dinner of Iltalian beef sandwiches and ruffles.

Not sure what is for dinner yet.

WFD- no sure what I am making yet. DH requested burgers on the grill this weekend, but the weather is not cooperating for grilling. We are suppose to have rain all day.

I bought fixings for Insalata Caprese Salad so that is going to be a side dish. Maybe I will make ravioli and sausage or meatballs.

Poor John had to go to the oral surgeon today because about a year ago he bit his tounge really badly.

Oh my. I hope he is feeling better today. I can only imagine that it is not that great of a feeling because I know how painful it is to bite my tongue nevermind having to go through what John needed too.

My temporary employee is working out great and I'm getting quite a few resumes already, so that's a good thing.

Great news!

Dinner tonight was Fillet-O-Fish from McDonald's. And a glass of wine. Two trips to my Aunts and trying to listen to her latest food issue is making me nuts. I love fast food.

I am sorry you are having a rough time with your Aunt...

Yum - fillet-o-fish! Last weekend we tried the fish sandwich from Wendy's and it was very good. It may be my new favorite. (Hold the tartar sauce for me, though.)

I had that one last week too! I still like McDonald's better. I also love Friendly's Fishamajig which is the same as I remember when I was a kid. Now if I am feeling flush I hit Red Robin for their fish sandwich. O YUMMM! Now do you see why I like Lent? Fast food fish all I want every Friday :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Now I am going to have to go to Wendy's and Friendly's! I LOVE the Mickey Ds filet o fish!

:cool1: Good Job Kyle! A night out is just what Mom needed...

I am so glad that Liam had a great day! :cool1: I want to know what Aunt Becky got him too!!! ;)

We went out last night and I had my fish fix...tilapia francese over linguine...it was so yummy!

We are going to work in the bathroom today and go to the mall later today so A can get a game with the bday money he received...I think we will just eat at the food court...

Have a great day!

Tonight will be our annual meal of Apricot Glazed Corned Beef and smothered cabbage. Have a great day all!:goodvibes

Quick check in everyone. I'm taking a break now, but need to get back to work. I have no idea what we're having for meals this weekend, Kenny is in charge of that (may the Lord in Heaven help us). I'm working like a crazy woman. I thought I had a month to finish our taxes, but Kenny informs me that the bank needs the financials to renew his capital line so I have to have them done this weekend. So, it'll be Monday before I'm able to catch up with all of you.

A late congrats to Liam on his birthday.
Today I am going to dinner at my mother's house with Ed and my Brother.
I'm bringing the main course, Italian beef...My mother will make dip and some sort of dessert..Is it bad that I dread visits to my mother's house?

Happy Saturday Y'all!

Laura, Glad Liam's party went well & the lucky boy got his Wii!!!:goodvibes

Kathy, So happy you had a great evening! :goodvibes Glad Kyle was not hurt & was able to pitch so well too!!! And what rest. was that?! Are you holding out on me? ;)

Nancy, Sorry for the trials with the Queen. :sad2: She definitely sounds more like the Wicked Witch!

Becky, Sorry to hear about John's tongue! I agree, just drink an extra glass or two for him!

Gretchen, Ugh! Taxes! We feel your pain!

We could have gone to my brother's for crawfish last night, but I didn't think my stomach could handle that. Besides Whole Foods had Alaskan Halibut that they were just putting out. I felt like something simple & I was craving something green. So we had pan seared halibut with cajun seasoning & lemon & roasted garlic bread & braised greens. It was yummy, just want my stomach needed! And I was able to have a glass of chardonnay too! Has anyone tried Cupcake Chardonnay? It was good, different than I usually like, but creamy & with a lot of bright citrus flavor. Went great with the fish!

Here's a pic:

We went to Lil G's Kajun Restaurant in Belle Chasse, it's one of my favorites!

Probably no dinner tonight - maybe something snacky and dessert.

We just finished having lunch at our favorite local Thai restaurant:
Salad with ginger dressing
Fried spring rolls
Red Curry Chicken - extra spicy!
Thai iced tea

YUM-O!! We both get exactly the same thing - it is one of our all time favorites.

Oooh, that fish looks great.

I don't know what we're having. I'm trying to think of something different to do with chicken on the grill but am uninspired. I gut is to slather them with BBQ sauce but I thought about doing BBQ beef in the crockpot later this week... or we could just do breakfast pizza, which would be easiest ;)

WFD tonight? Nothing yummy!

This is gross so only read if you want to!

Poor John had to go to the oral surgeon today because about a year ago he bit his tounge really badly. A little piece on the side did not heal--it was just kind of dead tissue. So, he had to have it cut off today. :scared1: So, now he has stitches in the side of his tounge, and the surgeon said he should only eat soft, room temperature food, and worst of all, no wine! (to help the wound clot).

So, dinner is something soft, at room temperature, and wine-free.
OH NO! that sounds gross and painful. i hope he is healing up well..poor guy!!

mmmm fried fish....love it. Last night i did go meat free as well. I spent time with a couple of my girlfriends and i brought over a margherita pizza i made with fresh moz, tomato sauce and of COURSE my own basil..;). I also made a baked brie in crescent roll..sooo good. AND it was the "President" brand light brie..delicious..i usually stay away from light cheeses but this was very good!

This morning we actually made a nice breakfast..fried eggs, bacon and hash browns..i also made these ADDICTIVE muffins from Tastefully Simple, they are cinnamon meltaways..WOW..they tasted like donuts!! needless to say i am going to go do an exercise video in a bit out of guilt ;) lol! :lmao:

Tonight we are going to Greg's parents' house ..it will probably be steak of some sort..and i heard she might be making mississsippi mud pie..yum!
I will bring an appetizer..probably another baked brie that is topped with Stonewall Kitchen's roasted onion and garlic jam...

Have a great day everyone!!! :)

I am so glad that Liam had a great day! :cool1: I want to know what Aunt Becky got him too!!! ;)

I got him some choose your own adventure books, John got him the super Mario Brothers Smash Brawl game (I think that is what it is called), and I also got him an ipod and a gift card to get some songs. I think he is going to like the wii game the best!

MEAN MOM ALERT! Laura is sitting here and she says Liam has to keep the brawl game at my house. Isn't she just the MEANEST MOM EVER??? ;)

Tonight we are basically replicating the meal John had out Thursday night--pan seared salmon with a creamy pesto sauce, arugula salad, and sun dried tomato-pesto risotto cakes. I also bought some nantucket bay scallops which Laura is in charge of cooking, and John will have some fish chowder, plus whatever he can manage from the rest of the meal. I held back some risotto for him which I will cook in non-crunchy form. (oh, and he did not skip the wine last night either! I knew he would not!)

OH, and I will definitely be posting a picture of the ice cream cake I made for Liam last night I have to finish decorating it, but the thing is HUGE! So, if you all want to come over for ice cream cake, I have enough for everyone!

MEAN SOUS CHEF ALERT: Laura also wants you to know that I bought way too much fish for dinner tonight. I don't know what she is talking about! I only bought a pound of scallops, three pounds of salmon, and a quart of chowder! (for four people....) She's crazy, I am telling you! :confused3

Laura is the mean & crazy sister, right?????;) :rotfl:

Becky, You've driven me over the edge with arugula! :upsidedow I bought some at WF's yesterday! What's your usual dressing for that?

Well when I went back for dessert, I went for the mystery. I got me a spoonful of it and I just about lost it. I made it back to my table barely containing my giggles. But you know you can't tease and then not post the recipe. We will cover Alex's ears.

Now you remind me that I never finished all of my tax stuff. The Ag dept gave me an extention and that was a mistake!

Try not to get buried there!

Is it bad that I dread visits to my mother's house?

Not bad at all, we are going to MIL for Easter and my family is threatening a mutiny. The last Holiday that they had to go they went out to eat first :confused3

Nancy, Sorry for the trials with the Queen. :sad2: She definitely sounds more like the Wicked Witch!
Has anyone tried Cupcake Chardonnay? It was good, different than I usually like, but creamy & with a lot of bright citrus flavor. Went great with the fish!

The Queen has bigger fish to fry than me. Gail went shopping and left her a bill.

Now I want to know how you find such neat wines. I go and try to buy them and they are not in any of the shops near me. Just wait until I ask for Cupcake :lmao:. Marisa tried to buy the Gurtz that you had a pic of and they just shook their head. I have to hit the big store across the line.

This morning we actually made a nice breakfast..fried eggs, bacon and hash browns..i also made these ADDICTIVE muffins from Tastefully Simple, they are cinnamon meltaways..WOW..they tasted like donuts!! needless to say i am going to go do an exercise video in a bit out of guilt lol! :lmao:

I love any of the Tastefully Simple mixes. This one is a favorite here but if I make them I will have to run fr cover, my girls are following WW and they will hate me.

Laura is on a roll tonight.....:lmao::lmao::lmao:

My family is all going to see Horton Hears a Who tonight so it is just Buddy and me. His cousin called and said not to cook dinner, she was making a Lasagna for us. Oh my goodness!!!! It is gynormous! I feel a little guilty heating it up for just us, but not enough to stop me :upsidedow

I am looking forward to tomorrow. My nephew is home and my sister is having all of us for dinner. She is making a lasagna :rotfl:, so it is a feast or famine meal for us.

I cannot wait to see him. We are a little disappointed because the girls are in Delaware for some games and Chris is in NYC for I don't know what. It would have been wonderful to see them all together, but I am just thrilled to see Timmy!

I just wanted to thank you for all of the good thoughts for my Aunt. I am not really complaining about her, she cannot help how she is right now, and for the most part she makes me laugh. But.....if you could hear what she comes up with and then try to keep up with all of her thought patterns you would need a glass of wine too. :lmao: This week she told me that she cheated on her husband during the war. And so did her sister ...you know Yvonne? (My Mom :scared1:) But when the men came home they decided they would behave. Turns out they took rides home after work when it was too late to walk.:rotfl:Auntie, that is not cheating, it is just taking a ride from a friend. She knows that sometimes she makes not much sense and she also laughs. In her heyday she was always laughing at herself and she is still seeing the humor now.

SOO Becky I'm guessing you will be having a frequent houseguest, right? Are you feeding a small army. I think Alex would think that was 3 lbs too many of the salmon.

Sheryl Where did you find the cupcake chardonnay. what is the brand name?
