Corned beef, cabbage, potatoes, carrots!!!! Yum!! DH always makes a great meal for St Patrick's Day. The family will be here in about 45 minutes.

I finish mine with apricot preserves, brown sugar & dry mustard, it comes out great.:thumbsup2

Sheryl I went to World Market earlier and low and behold the were having a wine tasting of non other than Cupcake Chardonnay. They also had the Cab (really good) but I bought the Chard.

Nancy I did some investigative work and Cupcake is exclusive to World Market.

I bought some catfish and I think I'll blacken that with some rice and some green on the side. I'm not sure how the catfish will taste with the Chard but lemon cookies are sure tasty.;)

Oh-that sounds like a wonderful idea!! Let us know how it turns out.

I really want to like those, but I get grossed out by the legs and eating through the shell.

I can't eat soft shell crabs for this reason too.

I'm working like a crazy woman. I thought I had a month to finish our taxes, but Kenny informs me that the bank needs the financials to renew his capital line so I have to have them done this weekend.

Gretchen, I hope you were able to get everything done.

Sheryl -- Your halibut looked great.

i also made these ADDICTIVE muffins from Tastefully Simple, they are cinnamon meltaways..WOW..they tasted like donuts!!

This sounds like something my kids would like. Is it a mix or is it a recipe?

Laura, why you drivin' the bitter bus today? ;) Let Liam have his game at home...you'll be hooked! ;)
 That is a great expression! The brawl game is mostly staying at Beck's because it is rated T, and Liam plays with some boys in the neighborhood who are younger than he is. I'm not sure how their moms would feel about that game. I totally understand that. There is a boy who lives next door to my ILs who is Liam's age, and I won't let Liam play at that house because of the videogames the boy's parents let him play (he has older brothers).

That is a great photo of you and the tilework looks beautiful. I am impressed!

Oh, I forgot to tell y'all! We went to a great real New Orleans wedding tonight!

That wedding sounds like so much fun! I've been to a lot of weddings, and only one was an outdoor ceremony. It was late May and it was FREEZING!!! Thankfully, the reception was indoors. It took at least two glasses of wine for me to thaw.

Dinner was good today at my mom's. She made a roasted bone-in turkey breast, gravy, mashed potatoes, green beans with thyme, and her famous eggplant sticks. The best part is that she gave me some leftovers, so I have an easy meal tomorrow after skating.

Oh, I forgot to tell y'all! We went to a great real New Orleans wedding tonight! ( That's why I'm still awake.) The wedding took place outdoors in Audubon Park at Sunset, with oak trees forming a canopy over the ceremony almost like a church ceiling. In the background we could see the spire of Holy Name of Jesus church through the trees. The reception was held right there, at the golf club, which was party inside & with tables out on the patio. Luckily we had PERFECT NO weather for that, it was cool & breezy! Didn't even notice mosquitos until about 10! The food was great & typical Nawlins too, grillades & grits, crawfish pasta, crabcake stuffed mushrooms, all delicious!

Something I thought was super cool, the bride & groom had the limo take them to the local St Pats day parade dressed in full bridal regalia! The photographer was able to catch them her in her gown & him in tux, catching beads, flowers & cabbages at the parade!!! I can't wait to see the pics of that!

How fantastic! :bride:

Thanks guys for all the nice comments on my pics...It is slowly getting done.

Andrew had his first little league practice today and I was out in the chilly air for a few hours then had about an hour at the sports shop picking uniforms...I got this chill that I could not get rid of and my throat is so sore. :sad2:

I layed in bed all afternoon and Tom made some ziti for us. I put the dollop of riciotta on mine...I really like this. It is very filling, although I haven't had much of an appetite today.

I am really bummed that we do not have a place that carries the Cupcake Chardonnay close to here....

Thats another one of my favorite expressions. I hope you were not mad at me for using it...I was joking with ya! I totally understand about the game ratings...

OK, I am off to get more rest. I may make a glaze for my corned beef tomorrow like jenny, Kathy and I believe Glynis make.

My Mom's boiled dinner was great. Corned beef, cabbage, turnip, onions, carrots, beets, rye bread, traditional irish bread, rolls, cucumber and onion salad. Apple tart with coffee or vanilla ice cream and brownies.

We left with leftovers too... corned beef, loaf of rye bread (from my favorite bakery) and homemade apple tart for DH. Gotta love leftovers.

On the way home I went to Walgreens on a mission for a Mickey Easter Basket for Luke. I could only get a Pooh one, but I know he is going to love carrying it around.

I forgot how tasty this breakfast pizza is so I'm going to post the recipe again, since I think it got lost in the other thread.

Who's recipe is this so they can get credit?

16 oz. roll Jimmy Dean sausage
1/2 cup onion, chopped
1/4 cup green pepper, chopped
1 regular size can Pillsbury crescent rolls
1 cup frozen shredded hash browns, thawed
1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
small can mushrooms, drained
5 eggs
1/4 cup milk
1/2 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper

Preheat oven to 375°. In a large skillet, break up and cook sausage, onion and green pepper until sausage is no longer pink, drain. Place crescent rolls in a greased 9x13 pan, push dough up the sides about 1 inch. Make sure any holes in the dough are sealed. Layer the sausage, hash browns, mushrooms, and cheese on the crescent dough. In a bowl beat eggs, milk, salt and pepper together, then pour evenly over the "pizza". Bake for 25 minutes or until egg is set. Remove from oven and let rest for 10 minutes before serving

I wasn't mad at all! I knew you were joking, and Beck and I both got a huge laugh out of it. We had never heard of the bitter bus before. That's something that will likely make its way into our family lexicon.

I hope you are feeling better!

I can't believe St. Patrick's Day is tomorrow. I am completely unprepared. I don't even know if the kids have anything green in their wardrobes. With names like Liam and Caili, they should be wearing green! We won't even get to do a St. Patrick's Day meal since Caili skates.

We are going to my ILs for dinner tonight. Oy, I better eat a snack before I go. I'm taking a lemon cheese pie for dessert.

WFD at your house?

Morning all--

Just a quick check in.....been a busy weekend, and I never made it on here, so I can only imagine how much catching up I have to do!!
Today is Kris' b-day, and I usually make his favorite meal that Ross and I can't stand, but not sure if he will want it today as he had a stomach bug yesterday, he went to work this morning, not sure if he will make it through the day though. I am hoping that Ross and I don't get it, but we all know how this works.

Sooo supper tonight might be potatoes, peas and tuna (all mashed together with butter salt and pepper...gag) for Kris or chicken noodle soup.......Ross wants mac and cheese and I will have a salad.

I will try to get back later this afternoon to catch up, but for now I am off to get some housework done, and go run errands....fun fun fun........have a good Monday all and Happy St. Patty's day to you!

Happy Brithday Kris!!! Hope you feel better!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

I typed a long response to a few of you then, the DIS was slow as molasses...

I am feeling a bit better...tonight we are having corned beef, cabbage, potatoes and carrots. If I feel up to it, I will make the Irish Brown Bread and dipping sauce from Raglan Road. I will post the recipe later.

We have the insulation company here today. :cool1:

Have a great day all!

:shamrock: Happy St. Patty's Day !:shamrock:

WFD-Luke & I may run to my DP for leftovers...I am in the mood for a corned beef on rye with a side of beets and pickled cukes & onion salad.
