For those who've had their flu shot already-

I got both at the same time a few weeks ago. Except for the normal bit of arm pain for a day or so, not ill effects.

I scheduled m Covid and flu shots for Thursday Sept 25. Generally I would have waited until early October, HOWEVER, this year, we are doing Disney (starting October 9th, followed by a Disney Cruise, so I wanted to get my vaccines 2 weeks prior to the trip.

Generally get the annual flu shot end of October or early November, so it lasts into the early part of Spring. Clearly, if you work in the health care industry you have to follow what your employer recommends due to your potential exposure to many having various medical issues. Have never had any reaction to the flu shot. Have always gotten the covid shot at some other time since if you have any issue and got them together, there is no way to determine which one caused a problem. Nurse at the local pharmacy agrees with me even though the store suggests getting them together. I assume they think people are less likely to return a second time which is why they recommend getting them both together.

Every year that I get the flu shot, it takes me down pretty hard. I don't know why--not all vaccines do this to me, but to the OP, I get it that it's puzzling that it's a change from the norm. I keep hoping that I'll have an experience with it where I get no side effects. I have to do mine on a Friday of a 3 day weekend so I can be okay for work.

I got mine yesterday. I've had much less arm pain than I usually do. I don't usually have any other side effects from the flu shot. I'm not feeling great, but I did get the Covid vaccine on Saturday- I had a fever from that on Sunday and Monday, as well as generalized achiness and fatigue. I'm kind of achy again and exhausted, so not sure if I'm just having elongated side effects from the Covid vaccine or if this is from flu vaccine or the combo. I have received both of them together before with the same side effects I got with just getting the Covid vaccine on its own. So I guess to answer your question- maybe? Not sure.

I work in health care, so I was required to get my flu vaccine this week.

I just got a flu shot today.......so far nothing. Usually just a sore arm.
I go on a trip in a couple of weeks, so wanted it before that.
However, found out no Covid shots with out a prescription, so I have to get working on that :(
Well, it ended up not being the same as usual.....after many years of getting a flu shot, this one hit me.....about 8 last night, I was freezing. Could not get warm. Went to bed with an extra blanket. Didn't sleep well. I got the high dose shot.
this morning, I am fine, just really tired.

Just got both covid and flu vaccines this morning on short notice. Our state medical person recently said we don't need prescriptions, and based on the current climate I didn't want to wait until next week. CVS pharmacist just asked me what health condition I was claiming (I am 63) I said obesity, she said BMI over 25 was good enough. I got moderna for the first time. Have never had serious reactions to either flu or covid shots before, we'll see.

I haven't had it yet. Like others have said, I usually wait until mid-October so that it lasts through flu season. However, last year my kids and I all caught a very bad strain of the flu the second week in September. My oldest missed over a week of schooll. It was bad! I'm thinking I should get mine this week.

Anyway, if I recall correctly, there's usually a 3 strain or 4 strain vaccine. Do you know which one you got? Hope you're feeling better soon.

Sounds like you had a similar reaction, Meriweather. Like you, I got the high dose shot-I think-it said flu 66+, so I assume that's it. Don't know if it's 3 strain or 4.

Got mine (plus the Moderna C19) about 22 hours ago. No adverse effects. (This is the "regular dose" variant, not the "high dose" one.)

I too would normally wait to october, but I am going to be in WDW in the middle of the month.

Don't know if it's 3 strain or 4.
I could be wrong, but, I think the high dose for seniors use to be 3 strains, the regular dose for younger was 4 strains. However, I think last year, the high dose senior shot went up to the 4 strain also.

For the 2025–2026 flu season, the high-dose flu shot (Fluzone High-Dose) contains
three different influenza strains. All flu vaccines in the U.S. for this season are trivalent (three-component).

The three strains included in the high-dose flu shot for 2025–2026 are:

  • An influenza A(H1N1) virus
  • An influenza A(H3N2) virus
  • An influenza B virus (from the Victoria lineage)
Why are there three strains instead of four?
Flu vaccines previously included a fourth strain (a B/Yamagata virus) and were called "quadrivalent". However, the B/Yamagata strain has not been detected in global surveillance since March 2020. Consequently, health officials determined it was no longer necessary to include this component in the vaccine.

Science at work. :thumbsup2

Got mine today. I've always been fortunate enough that I never get any reaction to vaccines. It was troubling with Covid. I kept wishing I had some reaction so I would know that it was working. Guess it was though since In never even got the sniffles through out its long run.

Also today, I just finished five consecutive days of Radiation Therapy trying to eradicate my Prostate Cancer. Based on that and some chemical injections as well, the prognosis is looking pretty good. I'll have a better idea in about 6 weeks when I have a follow up and, hopefully, a favorable PSA test and I'll be home free until the next old age problem rears its ugly head. Although, it appears that they are planning on monitoring it every 6 months until the end of time, nothing much is changing except what department monitors it. The last 10 years it was the Urology Dept. Now it is Radiation Oncology. All I can say is Hallelujah.

Best wishes for good remission.

I never get a flu shot, but my mom does, and she felt lousy too for a few days afterwards.

My DH got a flu shot & COVID shot and also felt terrible afterwards.

I hope you feel better soon :wizard:

No reaction with flu shot.

Got a Moderna C19 a week later and the reaction suddenly hit the next morning with chills, body aches, fatigue. I was at work and muddled through. The reaction ended as quickly as it hit about 8 pm that night.
