Just running through... crazy busy day!

I am having leftovers from lunch. We went to Steak and Ale for a coworkers birthday and I only ate half so I would have dinner. I have yet another meeting tonight at 7pm.

DH is eating eggs and bacon at home. I'd rather do that!

It's going to be 90 degrees here tomorrow. I need to lose this winter weight ASAP! My shorts aren't going to fit tomorrow!

Lindsay, That sure sounds nice! Glad you got to enjoy that little pick me up!:goodvibes

Becky, I haven't had anything but saltines today, but boy those eggs look & sound yummy! Cream & butter probably not what the dr would order though.;)

Rachel, Hope you feel better. And little Baby A too!

Kathy, So glad they are both okay! I know you're shook up, but it could have been so much worse. Thank God they weren't hurt!

Lauren, I forgot to say earlier that hope Big Man A gets well quick!

Wendie, Would you quit worrying about me and take care of yourself!!

Y'all know why I don't want to go to the gastro, one word, colonoscopy!! I'm going to the rheumatologist on Tues., I will talk to him about the other issues & see what he says.

I'm doing a lot of cooking today..I'm making a couple pans of stuffed shells and a couple pans of baked manicotti. 1 w meat 1 without for DD.. It's taking forever..
Ed Started a new job today..He was sort of fired from the last one because they kept writing him up for being sick..When he had the surgery to have the stent put in in Oct they told him he could not come back until he had a doctors note OKing it.. He came back with a doctors note like they told him to and he got a written warning anyway.. They wanted him to come back een though they *fired* him but he's done..It's rediculous to be written up for not being at work when you were ordered NOT to come to work.
Here's hoping this new job is good..It's very hard for him because it is inevitable that he has doctors appts..He tried very hard to schedile them for non-work times.

A-HA!!! I will force John to eat this recipe yet! I just won't give him advance notice as to when I am making it.

I altered the recipe a bit and used cream of chicken soup...so if you use the mushroom soup, it may taste different but it was very good. Not anything gourmet, but good.

Kady is fighting off a cold too. She is like Andrew, does not go to the nurse so if she calls I will go get her too. Now her mother went to the nurse every day for 12 years :rolleyes1

I hope Kady is feeling better. Andrew is a bit better...still had this cough and noe Tom is complaining of being sick! :scared1: I lived in the nurses office when I was in high school.

Yeah Laura...!!!
The chilequiles lasagna was really good last night! Predictably, my kids didn't like it "too spicy", but Alan, Katie and I ate it happily!!!

Glad you liked it!

Hey Y'all,

Sorry I didn't check in yesterday. No cooking, I was busy up-chucking again. My IBS acting up aagain. Weird thing I just realized, when researching fibromyalgia, is that IBS is often part of it.
Wendie, :grouphug:

I didn't quite know what she was talking about at first when she says with a real southern drawl " Well Naana, don't we need to throw in some BUUUDTTER in these meatbaaalls?" I said "What, no, no butter in meatballs." Then she went into a full-on Paula Deen imitation! :rotfl2: It was so funny! She is really good at it!

Lauren, I ended up chickening out (or maybe that's turkeying out) on total turkey meatballs. I used half ground round & half turkey sweet italian sausage. They came out wonderful. Other than the change in meat, I followed the Mario B. recipe I posted a while back. I know that soaking the bread in water sounds strange, but it really works to give you a light & moist meatball!

I'm thinking of going Nuevo Irish like Raglan Road's menu. Maybe cedar plank maple glazed salmon & colcannon, leek & cabbage soup.
 Oh! I wonder if that bread pudding recipe is on that other thread? Oooh that would be so good!

I hope you're feeling better!

Glad the meatballs came out great! Miss Alexis actually had a good tip...I always put a tbs of melted butter in my meatballs...and soak the breadcrumbs...:)

Yes, the RR bread pudding recipe is listed on that thread. I am going to make the oatmeal bread with guiness dipping sauce...that is as fancy as I am gonna get! ;)

Thanks for all the kind words my friends.:grouphug: I wasn't told the details of the accident last night as my guys knew I was in bad shape already so they kept quiet until today. Kyle's car was spun and landed on a guard rail over a canal, he was literally inches away from ending up in the canal.

Everyone is fine, now we just need to deal with the insurance company.

OMG! :scared1: They were brave to even tell you this now. I need a glass of wine for that story! The weather is getting nicer and it is Thursday! :thumbsup2 Have a glass with me!

Baby A seems to be feeling under the weather... He is kinda not himself. Not cranky but not happy. I wonder if he is teething again. :sad1:

I hope you and the baby are feeling better!

Lauren, I forgot to say earlier that hope Big Man A gets well quick!

Thanks!

Just wanted to share...I am feeling quite old today...I just got the invite for my 20th HS reunion! :scared1: One good thing, I saw my good friend today and she told me that I looked the best that I have looked in a while. :) My guess is its because I finally found a hair color that works and I updated my makeup a bit (or maybe that I have been wearing some again)...cuz I am the fattest I have been in a while...well, minus the weight I have just lost...

OK, I am babbling again...been awhile right? I didn't even start with the wine yet!

(((Ed)))) Man that sucks. It happened to Darren too... he was hospitalized for 3 days and with a doctor's note, came back and was promptly let go. :( Nice company Well's Fargo is. Let me tell ya!

:::Doing a happy dance::: baby fell asleep in his crib :D First time for everything ;) Normally he sleeps with us, but we're trying to transition him at least part time into the crib b/c he is a roller and rolls right off the bed if your not paying attention *eeek*.

We are having the Swiss/spanish steak that took too long to cook lastnight, tonight.
Also making a cheese/beer bread.

Kathy That's awful about Kyle's car.

Hi all I have to get my paperwork done tonight so this is a quick fly-by.

OMG, Kat!!!! Thank goodness they are ok!! :grouphug:

A version of it was posted on the old wfd thread. This way is my futzy way of making them. I like my eggs cooked through but the yolks runny, so this is what I do:

For each serving, you will need three eggs, 2 tsp. butter, 2 tsp. cream, 1/2 clove garlic, minced very fine, 1 tbsp. minced herbs of your choice (I use thyme and parsely), and 2 tbsp. finely grated parmesean cheese.

1. Preheat broiler.

2. Put cream and butter into ramekin and place under broiler until cream is bubbling and butter is melted.

3. Meanwhile, seperate your eggs. Discard one egg white.

4. When the cream is bubbly, pour the egg whites into the ramekin and place back under the broiler. Broil until almost cooked through--about 4 minutes.

5. Now take the ramekin out of the oven, and place the egg yolks on top of the whites. Sprinkle with the herbs and cheese, and season with salt and pepper to taste.

6. Place back under the broiler and broil until the cheese is just melted and the yolks are done to your liking--2-3 minutes more.

Let rest for a minute or so before serving.

Sounds great! Thanks for posting the recipe again. I'm definitely gonna try to make them this way - they look so good. I like the yolks runny, too.

OMG, Kat!!!! Thank goodness they are ok!! :grouphug:

Thanks my friend, I think I'm still in shock, I couldn't even go to his ballgame tonight but that's also because I have so much work I brought home today. He's pitching tomorrow afternoon's game and I'll be there for sure. Are you getting excited about your trip??????

Kathy -- :scared1: Thankfully, they are okay. And this was a POLICE car that hit them?? That's frightening too!

Nancy -- Isn't it amazing the things kids come up with? Kady's comment about the best part about skin is that you can write on it was just so funny. Probably not so funny for you as you had to scrub her hand, but one day, it will be.

Ross had a friend over playing Wii this afternoon and Rock Band on the Xbox.....I like Wii better as there is no preteen boys singing out loud involved:eek:

Note to self: DO NOT purchase the Wii American Idol or Wii Karaoke! (unless it is for me  )

Mine is this year too Lauren. The way I look at it is, I would rather be almost 38 than be almost 18 again.

:::Doing a happy dance::: baby fell asleep in his crib :D First time for everything ;) Normally he sleeps with us, but we're trying to transition him at least part time into the crib b/c he is a roller and rolls right off the bed if your not paying attention *eeek*.

Probably a good idea to try to transition him now. Caili slept in my bed every night, but not the whole night, until she was almost two. Even after that, she was a pretty regular co-sleeper. Now, at 6 1/2, she still insists on sleeping in my bed about once a month.

Dinner tonight for me...not the kids...was a kind of noodle bowl. It had Chinese-style noodles on the bottom with a sauce of clam juice and soy sauce and sauteed vegetables: onions, scallions, shiitake mushrooms, baby bok choy, garlic and ginger. I used a little cilantro for garnish. It was good, and amazingly enough for me, contained absolutely no butter! Here's a pic:

Laura - No, sorry I forgot to clarify. It was a police officer but he was off-duty in his private vehicle. He also mentioned to Kyle & Johnny that he was in a rush because he was late for a date, which they mentioned during their taped interviews with the insurance companies today.;)

Y'all know why I don't want to go to the gastro, one word, colonoscopy!! I'm going to the rheumatologist on Tues., I will talk to him about the other issues & see what he says.

Aw, they aren't that bad! Just the prep, but there are ways to make that less miserable too.

Tonight's meeting was uneventful!! It was SO nice to have a regular ol' meeting without someone showing up with an agenda and screwing it all up.

I was still hungry when I got in so I fried an egg and nuked some microwave bacon. Man, I love bacon...

Well we were naughty. We got Sonic. I had the popcorn chicken salad. Joey and Darren had popcorn chicken and onion rings and Aiden is eating a banana :D

My husband works in the media ministry at our church. Tonight they are having an appreciation dinner and serving Famous Dave's barbecue, so no cooking for me tonight :)

WFD at your house?

Jenny, that stinks about Ed's job! Does he have any legal recourse?

Well, I did not end up cooking last night. I walked down to John's end of the city to meet him and ride the train home together, but he called one minute before the train was going to leave to say that he got stuck in a meeting. So I muscled off the train and met him and we went out for dinner instead. We walked over to our favorite little place in the North End and had fried calamari, then I had chicken carbonara with rigatoni and John had seared salmon with a creamy pesto sauce and a sun dried tomato pesto cake, and the best arugula salad. We used to be regulars there when we still lived in the city, and the waiter remembered us even htough we had not been there in a long time.

Gotta go to work, be back later with WFD.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE BEST NEPHEW EVER!!! :)
