That does it! There are no stores within 200 miles of me! See what we put up with up north??????? Snow, ice, sleet, cold, and no Cupcake Chardonnay!!!!!!!!!

So our plans changed and we worked on the bathroom today amongst other things...we got out niches in...here is the pic:

The hole where I am is the soap holder...the other will have a shelf added...sorry about the size...photobucket is really acting up today. Also, sorry...no make up again!
bath2016.jpg

Here is the tile with my grouting job...not too bad, huh? It was hard to lay the tile and grout to 100% perfect because it was laid on concrete which is not level...
bath2015.jpg

So dinner was hotdogs, NY red onions...YUM!, fries and baked beans, which I cooked too long and came out mushy...no one ate them axcept me!

Hope all is well!

Laura, why you drivin' the bitter bus today? ;) Let Liam have his game at home...you'll be hooked! ;)

Sheryl, your halibut looks great!

Oooh, I'm impressed on the tile work! That is hard to do!

I ended up making french fried onion chicken - you know the recipe on the can? It was tasty! I used a dijon mustard as the sticker stuff and it had a heavy mustard taste, but was good.

Also made loaded mashed potatos.

AND the warm winter lemon cake is in the oven!

The Queen has bigger fish to fry than me. Gail went shopping and left her a bill.

Now I want to know how you find such neat wines. I go and try to buy them and they are not in any of the shops near me. Just wait until I ask for Cupcake :lmao:. Marisa tried to buy the Gurtz that you had a pic of and they just shook their head. I have to hit the big store across the line.

just wanted to thank you for all of the good thoughts for my Aunt. I am not really complaining about her, she cannot help how she is right now, and for the most part she makes me laugh. But.....if you could hear what she comes up with and then try to keep up with all of her thought patterns you would need a glass of wine too. :lmao: This week she told me that she cheated on her husband during the war. And so did her sister ...you know Yvonne? (My Mom :scared1:) But when the men came home they decided they would behave. Turns out they took rides home after work when it was too late to walk.:rotfl:Auntie, that is not cheating, it is just taking a ride from a friend. She knows that sometimes she makes not much sense and she also laughs. In her heyday she was always laughing at herself and she is still seeing the humor nowNancy &, Janice I found the Cupcake at World Market for only about 9 bucks. It is Cupcake Vineyards, 2006 Central Coast Chardonnay, the writing on the lable is blue with white background and a yellow border. On the back it say Cupcake Vineyards, central coast chardonnay. It seems to be pretty popular around here. For the Pierre Sparr you will probably need to go to a better wine shop, but you might be able to find Fezter Brand gewurtz, it's very good too. I buy the Pierre Sparr wine at specialty wine shoppe, which I guess is pretty specialized when you consider we can buy wines, beer & liqours in every grocery on every corner. So I guess if I have to go to a specialty shoppe it must be "special"/:confused3

Nanc, If taking a ride home from a friend was cheating, well we'd all be in big trouble! It's really very neat, she still remembers some stuff correctly. Maybe you should consider a notebook or tape recorder when chatting with her. Eventually all the great stuff she went through during the war will be gone. Better to gain the little bits, she still remembers now!

Sheryl, your halibut looks great!

Lauren, You & your soon to be niches & soap holders look great!!! One of the things we are happiest with is the large niche/everything holder we put in the shower! Love it! I can't wait to see your shower finished! It's going to look great!!! I have so much I want to do here, & Dh is holding on to the purse strings right now expecting an upcoming recession! :confused3 ;)

Nancy I'll find that cake recipe and post it later.

Tonight we are having marinated flank steak baked potatoes and a salad

Sheryl I think I found that wine is this it? http://www.worldmarket.com/Wine/Chardonnay/Cupcake-Chardonnay/lev/4/productId/6420/Ne/4/sectionId/397/N/29+4294967229/categoryId/29/pCategoryId/29/Ns/TOP_SELLER_INDEX%7C1/index.pro

YES that it is it!!! Hope you like it! We really enjoyed it! It seems to be a really big seller around here, when it goes on sale, they run out super quick. I hope you like it! :goodvibes

Oh, I forgot to tell y'all! We went to a great real New Orleans wedding tonight! ( That's why I'm still awake.) The wedding took place outdoors in Audubon Park at Sunset, with oak trees forming a canopy over the ceremony almost like a church ceiling. In the background we could see the spire of Holy Name of Jesus church through the trees. The reception was held right there, at the golf club, which was party inside & with tables out on the patio. Luckily we had PERFECT NO weather for that, it was cool & breezy! Didn't even notice mosquitos until about 10! The food was great & typical Nawlins too, grillades & grits, crawfish pasta, crabcake stuffed mushrooms, all delicious!

Something I thought was super cool, the bride & groom had the limo take them to the local St Pats day parade dressed in full bridal regalia! The photographer was able to catch them her in her gown & him in tux, catching beads, flowers & cabbages at the parade!!! I can't wait to see the pics of that!

Good morning all,

I was up at 2:15am today. Luke would not sleep!!! DH & I are sitting here having an early cup of coffee, DISing together. Hopefully we can all get a power nap today.

WFD- Today we are suppose to go to my parents for the traditional family boiled dinner for St. Patrick's Day. (17 of us) Can't wait to have some cabbage with malt vinegar, YUM!

Ann

Today we are going out to eat with some friends after church.

WFD at your house

Hi All!

I have caught the cold that has been going around in school and my house so not sure how motivated I will be to cook...I am thinking pasta with marinara and riciotta, salad and breadsticks.

Have a great day!
Lauren

We're having dinner with our neighbors tonight--pork tenderloin--yum!

Hi y'all! I've kind of been MIA since the new thread began. Lots going on here....stressful stuff, but I decided to rejoin the group. It's kind of like my therapy. :goodvibes Tonight I'm doing Crockpot Italian Beef Sandwiches. These are really yummy. I'm going to add a basic tossed salad and a baked potato to the meal.

Crockpot Italian Beef Sandwiches

3 1/2 to 4 pounds beef roast, sirloin tip, or rump roast
12 ounce jar Italian Giardiniera (drained if you want less spicy meat/liquid)
12 ounce jar pepperoncini peppers
1 envelope Italian salad dressing (zesty Italian)
10 ounce can beef broth

Place beef roast in a crockpot. Combine Giardiniera, pepperoncini peppers, dry salad mix, and condensed beef broth. All the mixture to crockpot. Cover and cook on LOW for 12-14 hours, until meat is very tender. Use a fork to shred for sandwiches and serve with crusty Italian rolls or crusty bread. Use the meat juices for dipping.

My girls do not like the meat too spicy. I drain the Giardiniera and even rinse it. I pour half of the pepperoncini liquid in with the beef broth and save the other half. If I want it a bit spicier, I'll add the leftover liquid from the peppers. I usually get some kind of sandwich roll for the sandwiches and add provolone to them.

ugadog99 Welcome Home! That beef sounds good.

I think I'm going to World Market today and look for that Cupcake wine I'll build a dinner around that.:thumbsup2

Lauren - I'm impressed with your tile/grout work - looks great! Hope you're feeling better soon.

ugadog99 - Welcome back!! That recipe sounds great.

I'll be working the gate at the baseball tournament today so I'm taking out a frozen container of "Lauren's" spaghetti sauce with meatballs & sausages. Just need to cook the pasta, make a salad and some garlic bread and we'll be good to go.:goodvibes

Have a great day everyone!

Laura is the mean & crazy sister, right?????;) :rotfl:

Becky, You've driven me over the edge with arugula! :upsidedow I bought some at WF's yesterday! What's your usual dressing for that?

For arugula, we usually just toss it with salt, pepper, olive oil, and lemon juice.

Here are some photos from yesterday. Legal Seafoods rolls:

Hi All!
Lauren- You do not need makeup! I love the updates, your grout looks wonderful! Now get better soon.

Sheryl- That wedding sounds like so much fun!

Kathy- I'll be thinking of Kyle today. Let us know how the game went.

Ugadog99- Welcome back! Please don't stay away so long again, just pop in and say Hi.

Dinner last night was very good. I really think lasagna is an art, one I have no talent for. Hers was wonderful. We had it for lunch and my sister is having the same thing for dinner tonight. Thank goodness my DH is lasagna deprived becasue this is a lot of the same thing. He knows he has to enjoy it now because the odds are not good I will attempt it. Even with recipes I have trouble, everyone knows I am recipe challenged :guilty:.

WFD today: I am going to my inlaws for dinner. We are having haddock. I usually love haddock but I hate the way they make theirs: they cover it with a thick layer of mayonaisse and kraft parmesean cheese and broil it. I am already planning a snack for later!

Laura is still here and she is having roast turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, and green beans and eggplant sticks. Yes, I am jealous!

Just want to let everyone know that the Italian beef recipe Ugadog posted is awesome..I've been making this for year and it's a huge hit..In fact I made it yesterday for our faily get together...The great thing is you throw it all in the crock pot the night before and by the next day it's ready..It takes 5 minutes to make..We love to make it on kaiser rolls with Jalaeno Jack cheese slices.

Tonight I'm making Cheesy Broccoli and chicken casserole, with Zeppoli's..Zeppolis are really popular around here on ST Josephs Day

I think we're making breakfast pizza tonight. It's someones recipe from this thread - can't remember who!

The lemon cake last night was a success and SO yummy!! And you know I don't bake ;)
