The World of Warcraft Cataclysm Thread.

OH yea! I got my cooking up to 400 on my 2nd main toon. Also picked up fishing while I was at it.

I have also been running heroics like mad to start stockpiling up justice points. I think the max you can have going into Cata will be 4,000. So I'm working on that. I've checked out the new gear items (found a vendor in SW past the keep) that shows Cata gear and you'll need like 11K jp's or so to get decent items. Oy!

Well, after 6 years of playing, I hate feeling like a noob again. I don't mind that they made changes, but the amount of changes is staggering.

And I absolutely HATE, HATE, HATE, not having a FP in Southshore to make easy runs to SFK. And going to Chillwind Point to head to SM is no picnic....

Plus I had guildies who asked me to run them through SM Graveyard. They are about level 30, and it literally took them each about 45 minutes to get there.

BTW, the only thing I need to get "World Explorer" is Orgrimmar, but I can't get it no matter what I do... I ran all along the sides... Nope. I ran INSIDE Orgrimmar all the way to where the AH / Bank area is ( is it still there ) and still I can not get the recognition for having been to Orgrimmar. So, I will now, probably have to wait until Cata comes out, but that will mean it will be a very long time before I get World Explorer.

Did you open a ticket to Blizz about the World Explorer? It may be a bug somewhere.

Yeah the alliance lost a lot of land with the Shattering..If it makes you feel any better, it is now super difficult for horde to get to Darnassus and Exodar as well with all the changes that have been made.

Dax, it never occured too me to open a ticket. I guess I will.

BTW, it seems like almost every landscape change is designed just to slow people down. I was just now in the barrens, and was going to run down to 1K, but nope.... now you have the "Great Divide" that prevents that.

I am starting to think it is time for me to stop playing this game. I really am not enjoying it, post patch.

Once you have a flying mount, all of that become a moot point. And I have found a lot of the quest that are in far flung lands, they take you there with some kind of 1x flight...so once you get the FP, boom its done..

Example - DH and I were playing last night on out horde mage and warroir. We picked up the call to quest in the Badlands. As Horde, this is a HORRID walk. Not reading the quest text, which told me to go to E Plagueland and get a flight to the Badlands, DH and I walked..LOL..this has happened to me MANY times now.

I hope you dont quit..its a changed world, its a changed game. Its all new and fresh. Old habits need to be changed. Maybe just take a break. DH is doing it for a month. His time runs out on the 12th and he wont be back till after the first of the year. Thats an option too.

Yeah but in a few days you can fly so it won't be a big deal. Plus I'm sure there will be an FP at Gilneas, which looks like it's going to be awesome. Even though they told us pretty much exactly what was going to happen with The Shattering, I'm still shocked when I get to an area and see it for myself. I'm getting excited for the xpac!

Yeah, I am hoping that everything changes come Tuesday because right now it feels like my 6 years of playing has become almost worthless. I have the level 80 Mastery flying, which I do not recommend people waste 5000g on buying it. I can't even tell the difference unless I am flying with someone who doesn't have it.

I probably would not have paid that for 320% either. Too expensive. I am just not a gold collector. :rotfl:

Me either...I already have 3 loans with "Bank of Hubby"..he seems to always make the gold.

I have 320% flying on 1 toon only because "What a long strange trip" and working on it for my 2 others

Yeah thankfully I had the violet protodrake as well, so 320% was free for the flying mounts.

Confirmed by this blood elf who decided to sit at the bounty tables of the Alliance cities. Getting to Exodar & Darnassus requires the following:

1. a great deal of nekkid swimming
2. nekkid dying due to fatigue (over and over and over again)
3. nekkid getting pwned by the level 85 guards in both towns
4. dealing with alliance butt ferrets who don't understand that a blood elf wearing nothing but a pilgrim's hat and dress is only there to have punkin pie.

It sucked...took me and my friend about 3 hours to reach and sit at the bounty tables for both towns last week.

As for Orgrimmar, that's mah town! You should discover it by running around the outside (if you come in from the river, that would be easiest...). Otherwise, you can always wait until next week and just fly over the durned place. It looks VERY cool now...it used to look like just a wide spot in the road, but now it looks like a real Horde city!

Much as I hate Garrosh (and I do), he sure fixed the place up.

Has anyone gotten the goblin trike yet? I am still sick, so my reputation grind has been sparse. I'm about halfway through revered.

I'm so sorry that you are kinda bummed about the game. Like the PP said, perhaps a break might be what you need. I think being able to see new quests, new instances and new mobs and stuff will be really fun - I'm a lore addict, so it will be cool to see how they incorporate the stories into the gameplay. Furthermore, you will also get to go back to familiar areas and do other quests...they might be lowbie quests, but it will be cool to see that. I heard that the goblin questlines are hilarious!

I'm looking forward to eventually starting new gobbo & worgen toons to see how their questlines shape up as well.

Oh, and for all you level 80's - a word of advice. Even if you have uberkewl gear, sprint for the 2 pieces of heirloom gear (chest & shoulders), in order to get the extra boost to experience. You might be gimped a bit statwise, but you'll get to 85 a little quicker!!

I spent the 5k gold on epic flying and I love it. I love being able to fly as fast as I would from a bat/gryph, for free, and without having to take the "scenic route" either. It's even more awesome if you have a Paladin, because epic flying + crusader aura = get somewhere faster! And if you can make a beeline to the location, so much the better.

One of my biggest pet peeves is that every time I buy a flight from one place to the other, they have to take me on the longest, most convoluted route as if I haven't seen the whole of the countryside a hundred times already. It should not take me 15 minutes to go from Everlook to Gadgetzan...just sayin'. I'll bet I can make that trip in 1/3 the time by this time next week!

So here we are...2 days left...

I am planning on waiting till Wednesday to get Cata, because that day is payday..LOL..1 day wont kill me..I hope..LOL

So this weekend I didnt do much in the way of WoW...worked on my pally some more, she just dinged 33, and is already over level for N STV...GEEZ..I am tanking up a storm though, and having a blast. I feel like I am missing soooo much with leveling, i will need to do it again and again to see it all..LOL...not that thats a problem being the altoholic I am...:rotfl:

So what are everyone plans once Cata is live...what you gonna do first?

This is it gang...The OFFICIAL last 24hrs of WoTLK...starting at midnight PST, we usher in the Cataclysm..stupid release on day before payday..LOL..I will be installing my copy on Wednesday..so no biggie..I will just play my alts as usual tomorrow...this way the new zones wont be all cluttered on Wed...wishful thinking..LOL..

You all ready?

Ready freddy!

I spent the weekend doing a bunch of low level quests - I got through the Silverpine Forest and Hillsbrad Foothills additional loremaster achievements. I'm already Loremaster (pre-patch), but we get extra achievement points for the additional quests. My friends, the Horde quests, especially out of Silverpine, are EXCEPTIONAL. I am sure that the Alliance quest lines are just as great. There are a lot of cutscenes & cinematics and it's so much fun! There were so many times I laughed out loud and got totally into it. The quests regarding Gilneas were outstanding. If you are into the WoW lore, please don't miss this! Also, google "WoW Insider" - it's a great resource for everything, including lore.

Finally got my butt in gear this weekend and became Exalted with the Goblins (Bilgewater Cartel) - and got my TWO trikes. One is a slower mount, the other is a fast one. Very easy additional mounts if you are working towards the Mountain O' Mounts achievement. If you're Hordies, just travel to where the flightmaster is in Org, and the gobbo quartermaster is there - get a tabard and wear that thing through a bunch of heroics. Reputation goes fast. And...if you visit the goblin city in Azshara, make sure you take the rocket ship from one end to the other. You will get the [Joy Ride] achievement as well as have an absolute blast (no pun intended).

I've been doing the new fishing & cooking dailies in my home city this past week. It gave me an idea of how to do them efficiently and a bit of a headstart on chef's tokens. They're pretty easy, and it's easy experience & skillups - well worth it come Cata.

Tonight, I'm cleaning out my bags and bank on my main (Belf Pallytard) to make room for all the cool schtuff I'm gonna get. I will also be clearing out my quest log to make room for quests - some of the old raid quests that I never got to can be abandoned. The only quests I'm keeping are some of the ones I know I'm going to eventually get to, maybe 3-4. I'm also going to make sure to put on my Heirloom gear so I can take advantage of the experience buff.

Boyfriend is getting both of our Collectors Editions at midnight tonight. As I have to work tomorrow and am just getting rid of this nasty cold, I will not be waiting in line in 20 degree weather with him as I have for previous expansions. When he returns, and while I'm asleep, he will be making sure the game is installed on my computer. He's off for most of the rest of the month, so he'll be leveling his other toons during the day and saving his druid for me in the evenings. He has 5 level 80's and I have 4 level 80's. He's got enough to keep him busy during the day and he'll have the opportunity to see things before I get to them, so we can duo in a very efficient way.

My plan tomorrow afternoon is to get off of work, go directly home, change into my pj's, toss something quick down my gullet, and start to level my girl. I think I'm going to start in Mount Hyjal and once I'm done there, I'm going to play in Vash'jir. I will probably be higher than the recommended level, but as in Northrend, I want to experience every zone fully (that means, getting the achievement). Furthermore, it allows me to make more gold because all the quests after level cap are gravy money!

For Wrath, I busted my butt to level, and I don't want to do that this time. You see, it will probably be another 3 years before another expansion comes out and I don't want to be bored or think the only thing I can do is to raid. I'm going to take my time and savor the leveling process and not let a bunch of jackwagons muss up my time. (ask me that when some dork is stealing my herbs...)

I am so excited I'm about to pop. If the changes thusfar (cinematics / phasing / storylines / etc) are any indication of what we're going to see tomorrow, I am going to be one happy lady.

If I don't get to chat with you guys again, I hope you all have a wonderful day and enjoy yourselves with the new xpac.

(Sorry for not reading all the pages, I just don't understand most of it.)

Will my boys still be able to play WoW without upgrading? We were planning to get them this as a Christmas present, but don't want to make them lose on out on over 2 weeks of time if they can't play. Thank you!

LOL, its OK..WoW talk can be confusing to the non player..LOL

Yes, they can still play just fine...they just will not be able to level past 80, fly in the old world, or play the new races that are coming..but nothing will change for them until they get the game come Christmas morning..

I myself wont be getting my X-pac until Wed afternoon, so I will be playing tomorrow without it.

I agree..I have been having a BLAST leveling my toons all over again..and because I am wearing heirlooms, I am leveling WAY to quick, so I will be heading back to do them again.

I am a little over half way to Exalted on my Tauren Pally..and she is only 34..LOL..I am insta-queing for dungeons as a tank, so I am cleaning up

This was something I flaked out on...

Heirlooms from WoTLK will NOT work in Cata past 80...so might as well skip it

I have missed out on midnight releases for all expansions..LOL..DH did it for LK, but I worked. This year, we only getting the one right now, and I am picking it on Wed afternoon after I get paid, or I may do digital install for while I am at work, I dont know yet..

Have fun!! I havent decided what I am gonna do yet..Most of my 80's are teamed up with DH's toons, and he is currently on WoW hiatus for a month, so I may just work on a new toon..that way when we ready to go for the 80-85 rush, most people will be done that

For Wrath, I busted my butt to level, and I don't want to do that this time. I am excited too...I am bummed about waiting the extra day, but really I can get over it...its not like I wont have anything to work on ya know. Let the hardcore people get their realm firsts..it will all be there for me when I am ready.

If I don't get to chat with you guys again, I hope you all have a wonderful day and enjoy yourselves with the new xpac.

LOL, this thread will be quiet I am sure...check back though, I will keep it alive!

Thank you! I try to get excited for my two when they talk to me about it, but I mostly just smile and nod. I do the same for the oldest and my husband when they talk about D&D :)
