Has Anyone Tried to Use Points from Their Resale Contract to Book at Restricted Resorts (Riviera, Fort Wilderness, etc.)?

just catching up on this interesting glitch...can I ask if you needed a mixed bag of points in order to see Riv as an option in order to use restricted points there in the first place? How else would Riv show up on a totally post 2019 resale contract only membership. Just curious.
You had to own a combination of unrestricted and restricted points to be able to see and use all of them at Riviera.

Based on what I'm hearing here it sounds like the reservations that were previously placed went through but are new bookings made on resale restricted resorts still going through if you own some direct points in that membership or have they fixed that?

They have fixed it. You can no longer select restricted points to make the booking.

Yeah you need to have something eligible for RIV for it to even show up as an option. My website never showed the option until I bought direct. So that lets me choose RIV, then the problem with the website was showing the other contracts as an option AFTER I searched for RIV.

Eh…. Not sure this is really accurate. I’m a mixed owner with 2 direct SSR contracts and 1 resale SSR contract (all showing up under the same membership number). I’m more knowledgeable than the average DVC member and even I would have to squint and double-check my files to remember which one is the resale contract. Your average DVC user? They could very easily be making reservations online without paying attention to which contract is which because they assume the system is working as it should.
There are some DVC owners (My selling agent from Www.dvcresalemarket.com) who said she owns at VGF, but when I asked her what time booking a new reservation at 11 month and 7 month window was she gave me the wrong answer of midnight. I doubt all owners understand everything, including restrictions. Even when I call members services the cast members themselves have not understood restrictions.

who's to fault if you car shows your speed is 25 mph but in reality its 50mph? and you get a ticket?- In europe its your own responsibility.
I’m sorry, but comparing not paying attention to which DVC contract my booking is pulling points from in their online system to violating vehicle and traffic laws is a really really bad analogy, Especially given that their system, up until this glitch, always automatically pulled from the correct contracts.

In both cases it boils down to who is responsible. The answer is the one making the reservation or driving the car - no one else.

You can claim you didn’t know which contract was restricted/unrestricted or you didn’t know how fast you were going - doesn’t matter it’s your responsibility to know.

If you really wanted to compare it to speeding it would be more like them removing the speed limit signs on the streets and expecting you to remember what the speed limit was before. So removing something that aided you in what you were doing (booking/driving).
