The World of Warcraft Cataclysm Thread.

Hey everyone. Well bags are all cleaned out and I'm ready to go. Got one more day of work (tomorrow) then I'll be off for a week to play! Can't wait! I'll be picking up the game tomorrow after work. I might try to tie up a few loose ends tonight. Other than that just waiting with anticipation! :worship:

Oh I did change my main from herb/mining to herb/alch. I want to be able to plop that cauldron down in dungeons as well as turn into a dragon. Woot! So that's what I did all day yesterday. Grind and power level Alchemy.

So I was just at gamestop. Cata comes out in just over an hour. They are staying open until about 1 AM for all the pre-sale people who want the game tonight. I know the manager so he asked me to come over.

Anyway, NOBODY was there but employees and me. They expect people to come in at around 11:30.

For Cata they had 78 pre-orders.

For Call of Duty - Black Ops, they had over 450 pre-orders over all the platforms.

I was going to go get mine tonight, but since we can't play until 3 AM, I think I will wait.

I'm installing it now... What are the odds I can stay up until 3 just to get a peak before I head off to bed?

ETA: For those of you buying the CD rather than the digital download, DO NOT install from the CD. Upgrade your account with your CD key and let it download the final patch from the installer. The CD rolls back to patch 4.0 and supposedly is intended to reapply the patches, but yeah... that didn't happen and now I'm having to re-download all 8 GIGS of patch data I already had on my machine before I can download the last 800mb and play. :headache:

I lucked out, and my DH's holiday bonus went in early, so I was able to upgrade last night, via digital DL. Of course I was in bed at 10p EST, so I wont get my first taste until this afternoon..LOL..but from what I hear, things did not go so smooth last night...so I am glad I was sleeping and not wasting time in front of the PC

If anyone manages to play..Have fun!

I was just on, but not in Cata yet, however my guildies said they have no issues this morning... they did not say anything about when it went live.

My guildies who have installed and and are playing now have not indicated any problems either. Fingers crossed for everyone else!

Ok someone tell me what yall are doing!? Give me a play by play! I have 2 and a half more hours at work before I can go home and install the game. I need to live vicariously through someone! HALP, PLEASE! lol

Shortest level grind EVER. I'm at 82.5 (and tabbed out while in flight :rotfl:) just from finishing the Hyjal quests. Heading to Vashj'ir next, thinking I'll be 85 by the time I really get into Deepholm.

Well one cool thing is - if playing alliance - is that there is a boat that leave the harbor and takes you to what apparently is an underwater PvP zone. I didn't notice any PvP going on though.... yet I saw dead bodies floating, and I don't think they were killed by mobs.

Does anybody know EXACTLY where alliance can buy BoA gear in Dalaran? And can you purchase it with justice points?

Go up the stairs directly across from where the portals used to be. Heirloom gear is there. But I dont think you'll be able to use it for 80+. I think it's only good for new alts.

I love the Goblins! Well over 100 quests in that area alone and I LOL'ed so hard at some of them I was in tears. I've really been having a good time and only found one major bug but other than that no issues.

Quick update:

I've been playing every evening since Tuesday when I got home from work. The boyfriend was up for 36 hours straight playing. He's got the week off from work, so he's leveling his mage during the day and his druid is leveling with my paladin at night.

I'm now almost 83, mostly because we weren't trying to powerlevel...and only played a few hours a night. Gotta love being able to fly EVERYWHERE - I can now flip the flight master the bird (no pun intended) and not have to take the scenic route everywhere.

We finished the Hyjal quests and I loved that zone. Totally epic. We started Vash'jir last night and it took me a little bit to (a) figure out how to do all that traveling & fighting underwater and (b) to figure out where the *&^% my guy was at in a 360 degree world. I get lost in TWO dimensions, now I gotta deal with THREE?? However, Vash'jir is beautifully detailed and the quests are fantastic!

We also went to Blackrock last night (dungeon) for the first time with some guildies and it was fun. Not too hard, and nice gear to be had.

I found out my stupid heirlooms don't work after level 80. I'm going to smack the person who told me it was a good idea. What a waste of justice points.

Guild advancement is depressing. The cap is really low for both guild experience and one's personal reputation with the guild. I'm a Senior Officer (one of the founding members) and I just cracked friendly. We're level two, but I had hoped with the amount of achievement freaks in our guild, we'd have gotten further. I am, however, killing critters like crazy and trying to find pools to fish in. It is frustrating my guy to no end when I say, "Just a minute...there's a trout pool here!!"

I've replaced quite a few pieces of my Tier 10 ICC heroic raiding gear with greens (:scared1:). I worked so hard for those epicpurplezlol, however, not spending a crapton of gold for repairs (go go plate wearin' paladins!) is nice. There's a great deal of competition for herbs, so my herbalism skill is suffering a bit. Enchanting is slow going as well. But I'm trying to chug along on first aid, fishing & cooking when I can. Fishing really does compliment cooking a LOT.

Make sure you go to your capital cities and do your cooking & fishing dailies. They give good exp and skill points for very little work. Also...I tried archaeology and love it. It gives a LOT of exp for each artifact fragment you find, and something to do if you just want to escape the leveling grind for a bit.

I'm going to be doing some power leveling this weekend and hopefully will hit84 by Sunday. I'll update when I can! Hope you guys are having as much fun as I am!

I hit 85 before dinner last night. I dinged 83 before I logged off on Tuesday, since I had nothing going that day at all, then only got one level per day on Wed and Thurs because I could only play off and on. And I've made a fortune doing it - without selling anything at auction, I've made about 5k since Cata hit.

I couldn't believe how fast some people leveled - on Draenor, the realm firsts came about 12 hours after the expansion went live!

Some of the new dungeons are pretty impressive. Vortex Pinnacle is my favorite so far, I just love the whirlwinds as a means of transport.

I've already replaced all of my hard won 264s and 277s with greens and blues from the new content. Not that all of it was upgrades, per se, but with the iLvl requirements for the new dungeons it was often worth taking a lateral move in terms of stats just to open a little more content. My mission for today is iLvl 329 so I can start running heroics; some of the loot I've seen is just sick and I can't wait to pick a few things up.

Hey peeps..

Not much Cata play time for me as of late( THE HORROR)..life has just been getting in the way, plus DH wont be getting Cata till NYE, so all of my 80's are still just that...80..LOL..

I have rolled a Worgen hunter on Cenarius..Named him Fenrear..LOL..love it. I havent started my goblin yet either.

I wish DH didnt decide to stop playing WoW for a few weeks. I havent reliezed how much we play and are dependent on each other until I couldnt experience all the new shiny stuff with him...

So I will probably trudge along on my lowbies..no biggie though, I am having fun with them too!

The worgen quests ROCK! Though that open area is rather relentless and brutal. BTW, type /silly for worgen jokes.... they are usually really funny in a PG kind of way.

I now have an 18 worgen warrior on Whsiperwind. I'll be tanking. I have never tanked in 6 years. I hope I can do OK. Right now he doesn't seem very "tankish".

While I do love the Worgen...the damned snuffling noise they make is enough to drive me BONKERS!

I guess now is the time to make money if you have an 80+ mage.

I was in Hyjal, and people were asking for ports and offering 50g.

I got my first green piece of 272 gear, and while nice, my purple 251 gear beats it, but not by much. I was thinking that my 251 gear would be a waste of JP since I only got it about 10 days ago.

Cataclysm bumpkin here. DH plays WoW and downloaded it on my laptop last night. Questions for you all if you don't mind?

What's a toon?
How can I just build a character and explore?
Is there one server, guild, group that I could do that's easy? I'm horrible at games. For example, Sims was just right; sims 2 was too hard. The first Sim Theme park was just right, but the update was too complicated.

Can you help? Any Advice for me? And what's better (easier) to play: alliance or horde?

Thank you sooooooooo much. Sorry if this is a threadjack. I didn't know if I should start a new one for newbys or not.

LOL, Welcome to WoW...

You can do whatever you want, as in exploring, but be careful, moving around can be slow. You should be able to turn the game on for new players, and it walks you through step by step n what is going on.
