My baby has a chromosonal defect? She's HERE & HEALTHY! Post 355!!!

Good luck at the sonogram and the amnio.

Thank you for keeping us updated! I am still keeping you in my prayers and am hoping you can find some peace with these tests coming up.

Not knowing really is the scariest thing!

Went in for the amniocentisis this morning at 8:30. It was supposed to be yesterday morning, but got pushed to this morning due to office difficulties.
Anyways...they did the Level II ultrasound first, all the measurements looked good, heartrate was good. All 4 chambers of the heart are there and seem to be functioning properly. My specialist said she was 'hesitant' to say, but told me that if she hadn't seen me before, and seen our numbers and such before, she'd go as far as to say my baby looks 'normal' :) That was nice to hear.

Anyways...I was scared for the needle part, so I just looked away. I felt the prick of the needle, and of course felt it hit the uterus, but it was so much better or easier than I had anticipated! I did feel a bit of contractions as she withdrew the fluid, but she said that was normal. Just a wince or two and she was done. I'm definitely more tender now than at the time of the procedure. So, I'm just relaxing around the house and favoring my belly a bit :)

Now, the long 10 day wait :(. She said to call her a week from Monday. Ugh, that feels like forever! My mom flies in next Wed night, and goes home Tues early AM. I am having a 3D ultrasound that Monday she is here, so it looks like I'll get the news the day before she leaves... That may be a good thing tho :)

Oh....and, I haven't got to tell ANY family yet...
But.....
It's a :cutie: :cloud9: :cloud9: I had no preference, and was happy either way...
but, now, time for girl names!!! Ahhhhhhh lol

Anyways...thanks for letting me update and following me thru this!! I'll update again as soon as I hear my results. Crossing fingers and toes...but we know we can handle whatever news we get because the baby seems to be thriving and growing beautifully :goodvibes

That is wonderful news! I hope you enjoy your Mom's visit! Congrats on a baby girl!!! :goodvibes

Oh...wonderful news for sure!!! :woohoo: CONGRATULATIONS on your baby girl!!! princess:

That will be so comforting that your Mom will be here with you!!! :goodvibes

Yup, you better start a name thread..... I do not think that has ever been done on the DIS, or has it??? :lmao:

 I think "Grace" is a beautiful name. I'm a little partial....that was my daughter's name.

LOL>..no, never seen a thread like that!

We talked about that for a middle name, it is my best friends middle name. Right now...we like Ella (after my grandmother) for a middle name...but to find a first name that goes with Ella is HARDD!!
Today, we came up with the names Spencer, Journey and Jensen that we liked...

Ella-Grace is unique. My second son has two middle names....we couldn't agree....so, we compromised.:rotfl2:

I am so happy for you! I will keep praying that you find out everything is just fine!

I haven't posted on your thread before, but have been a "lurker". I am so happy the procedure went well. I am praying for good news in ten days!

P.S. How about Cinda Ella? I couldn't resist.

Thanks for the good wishes :)

LOL...I have totally thought about Cinderella since we discussed the name Ella. In fact, when we walked in the door at home today, I said "So....what are some girl Disney names"
LOL

Well GREAT NEWS!! I'm glad things went smoothly too. I hope you get even better news on your daughter in 11 days! CONGRATULATIONS!

just came across this thread and glad to here that you had the Amnio.....a similar thing happened to me also. I was told that my son may have sever facial deformities due to the meds for my Epilepsy....also may have genetic abnormalities....the wait for the results seemed to take a life time...

Because of the question of Facial deformities they sent us to a Dr. that had a really High Tex Machine......we left happy to know that his face was normal....

The Amnio also turned out normal and he was great :thumbsup2

I was a labor and delivery nurse for 22 years and I have heard your scenario before....leaving you scared to death ....than have an amnio that turned out wonderfully normal....so keep your chin up.....have some chocolate(not to much) ...we will all be here for you the next 10 days :thumbsup2

Glad things went well with the amnio.

Let us know how the ultrasound goes. That should be fun!

I hear you about the long wait! It felt like forever....

Glad the amnio went well and that all the health signs look so positiive!

thanks for sharing! THis is great news.....I havent posted for awhile but have been keeping up!!

Just think of the doom and gloom you heard...and now:) I like Spencer! I think Jaclyn Smith has a child with that name:)

Just found this thread and wanted to wish you "Faith", hope and pixie dust. (Just my little contribution to baby names: Faith Ella).

You are so brave, not only because of what you are going through right now, but for sharing your story with others. It seems like many people have gone through similiar circumstances and it's nice to see others reach out and provide a shoulder to lean on.

This is what the DIS is all about!

What wonderful news, congratulations. Please keep the thread updated.

Here's a :flower3: and a :mickeybar to celebrate party: .

agnes!

So glad the amnio went well for you.

I had a similar scare with my second son. At nearly 5 months they saw 2 cysts on my baby's brain. The doctor had told me sometimes they go away, but when they don't those children are born with horrible defects and none has lived past 1 yr. UGH. I went through the same rollercoaster of emotions as you and went for an amnio to find out for sure.

I was terrified of the amnio. I don't like anything near my belly button! I was hysterical and they had to give me a mild sedative. That didn't work--I had a contraction and the dr couldn't get the needle in! I had to go back the next day--double UGH! The 2nd time they let DH sit by me and hold my head and hands. I wanted to say---DUH! If you had let me do that on day 1 I probably would have been ok. But hey...at least the 2nd time they were able to get fluid.

The two weeks to wait for the results seemed like an eternity. But the day I got the phone call with the GOOD results--wow! It was like I won the lottery!!!!

Now that "baby" just turned 14 last week! ;)

Stay positive--things were already looking up it sounds!

Here's more pixie dust!!!:tinker:
