Joanne and Paul's VR - 4th May 2011

Claire sweetie - I am beside myself with excitement (and panic - there is still so much to do!!). I think that my poor, gorgeous DH thinks that his normally fairly level-headed (well, sometimes!!) wife has been replaced by an excited little girl!!!

Amy sweetie - First let me say thank you for the honour of being first to know outside your household!!! It really feels like we are special friends now
It must have been a difficult decision for you - I know you have had to compromise on some things that were very close to your heart. Obviously, I haven't had my VR yet, but I can honestly say that so far, I have not regretted for a day, ditching the DFTW idea and switching over to a S/D VR. I watch the boards closely, and see our friends who are DFTW brides having hassles with contacting their planners etc. and seeing their original dreams being altered to fit in with the rules and restrictions imposed by DFTW, and I am so glad I am going down the route I am!!! Don't get me wrong, I am the biggest Disney fan on the planet and I understand why they have to make some of these rules, but I would not like to have to contend with them when planning out my dream VR!!
I hope you don't regret your decision - I am pretty sure that you won't!!! Karen is an absolute angel and so efficient!! I am glad that I have had some influence in steering you in her direction!!!
I am looking forward to hearing all your revised plans when you are ready and welcome, my sweet Amy, to our small but very distinguished group of S/D brides!!! Yay!!! :yay:

Thanks Joanne! I have to admit I am really excited now, whereas at the end of last week I was in a real funk and just wanted to chuck the whole thing! I feel like a whole new world of options has been opened to me and it's a wonderful feeling! I can't imagine regretting this decision. :goodvibes

I think your excitement is contagious! ;)

Joanne, I love your jewelry, and your invitations are simply fabulous! They turned out wonderfully! I've always loved your monogram, and on the invitations with the shimmery paper and little crystals it looks even more amazing!

And I wanted you to be the first outside our household to know ... we are cancelling our DFTW vow renewal and changing to the Swan tomorrow!:yay: We are so excited and I'm totally okay not having the MK shoot (we're hoping to do the Studios instead now!). I have you to thank for showing us the option. :worship: Now we're going to get exactly what we want with no silly rules or compromises. Thank you!! :flower3:

Amy - you know when I first read your post all I saw was "we are cancelling our DFTW vow renewal" and I gasped! Then I read the rest and could breathe again! :rotfl:

Thanks guys!!!

James - I am sure you are more organized than you are making out you are!!! Believe me, I am sure that I am coming across as better prepared than I actually am!!! There will doubtless be plenty of panics and freak-outs ahead :scared1:

Gosh Joanne I think it is time you share a freak out. I have been following a year and don't think I have seen one yet on your board. I know in the past couple of weeks I have had at least ten of them :rotfl: I hope you know I am teasing. I also wanted to let you know I love the jewelry. I am hoping you have alot of sun on your day so there is even extra sparkle and glimmer. A girl can never have to much sparkle.

Amy - you know when I first read your post all I saw was "we are cancelling our DFTW vow renewal" and I gasped! Then I read the rest and could breathe again! :rotfl:

Oh, you're so sweet! :goodvibes I could never give up our ceremony ... just hopefully making a change for the better! :thumbsup2

Joanne, the invites are lovely (the color is perfect for a Swan wedding!) and I love the label on the box for you dress! What a fantastic idea!

Hi Joanne,

I don't post much, but I wanted to let you know I've been following your PJ for awhile and I love love love reading all your updates and plans. :thumbsup2 I just wanted to let you know that your jewelry is absolutely stunning!:cutie:

April

Dear James - I can assure you that my gorgeous and tolerant DH would probably tell you that I have my moments!!!!:furious: I told myself when I first started planning this VR that I should be determined to enjoy every moment of it as I am unlikely to be blessed with the opportunity to do it again, so I do try to keep the angry moments to a minimum. It doesn't always work though and I am not sure how I will cope if things start going wrong on the day!!!

Catherine - Thank you!!! I was very pleased at how the invitations turned out!!! I got the box from Ebay. It was very inexpensive and is perfect for the job!!!

April Elizabeth - I am honoured that you are reading along!!! Thank you for your kind words about the jewellery - I can't wait to wear it!!!

Hi Joanne...I am glad to see things coming along nicely. I am off to listen to your podcast.
Lisa

Where can I find the podcast?

Can you please tell me how you found such a box on Ebay? How did you search for it? I have someone driving down to FL with my dress, and I would feel so much better if it came with me on the plane!! :)

Lacey - Here is the link to the Ebay site. It is a British site and I am not sure whether they ship to the US.
ight be worth contacting the seller (her name is Julie) to enquire. If not, try typing 'Wedding dress travel box' in to the search bar of Ebay. I am sure there are sellers in the US who have similar things. Godd luck and let me know how you get on!!! :thumbsup2

I love the dress box!! It's so pretty and I am so glad you can keep it with you while you are traveling. How long will the flight be for you?

Your invitations are beautiful! I love them!!!

And I think you did a fantastic job making the headband into a bracelet!! :thumbsup2

I totally understand about life keeping you busy, it happens to us all. :goodvibes But we love hearing from you, so even if you're just posting what you ate for dinner, we'd like to hear it. :rotfl:

I am soo excited for you!!!

My sweet Crissy - Thank you!!! Our flight is around 10 hours. A long one but sooo worth it when you land in beautiful Florida. Not so good when going home, and after all those hours you are back in rainy (well, misty today) England!!!
I am glad you like the invitations and bracelet. I don't feel I have made a particularly good job of it, but it should at least last the day out!!!
How are things with you? Any news as to whether I will have the pleasure of meeting you on 4th May?

Joanne, I have just sent the seller a message to ask about shipping to the US. If all else fails, I have a friend in Wales who might be able to ship it to me. Thank you so much!!! :goodvibes

Joanne, the invitations turned out lovely and your jewelry is great! You will look beautiful at your VR.

pinkfairy, you might try contacting a few dry cleaners that preserve wedding dresses to see what it would cost to purchase the box they use to put the dress in. Mine is in my MIL closet but if my memory serves me right the outer box is mostly all white and the inner box is white with a clear cover on one side so that you can see the dress. I beleive it cost me $75 to preserve my wedding dress (although that was 13 years ago). I would think you could probably buy the box for around $25 and since it is meant for wedding dress preservation you would be ensured that your dress wouldn't get ruined inside of it.

One question...if you made the sticker for the wedding dress box...what font did you use for the wording "my weddding dress". I really like it!

Dolly sweetie - I am almost ashamed to admit that I didn't make the label myself!!! I would have done, but it came included in the price of the box so I figured I would save myself the bother!! It isn't as if I haven't anything else to do!!!!:rotfl:
Sorry that I can't help with the font name though - it is pretty isn't it?

I have just finished making the luggage labels for our guests and figured I would post a sample. I wanted to keep them simple and elegant and also incorporate each guests favourite character. The example is my Mum's who is a Bambi fan. The quote is from a song from 'Brother Bear' and I thought it summed up the excitement we will all be feeling when we attach the tags to our bags!!!:yay:
I bought really inexpensive faux leather tags for these to fit in to. The first picture is the front of the tag and the second one is the back.
