Would like some clarity on the rental situation

Next time just tell them it is a rental. It isn’t a violation to rent out every once in a while and the Home Resort Rules and Regulations state you are supposed to inform them when you rent. Don’t give them a reason to find a rule you violated just trying to avoid confirming you did something completely within the rules.
True she would probably just tell me for the 5th time that its for personal use only 🤣 And then move on

Have had to call member services to merge a couple reservations recently. Had to confirm that the reservations were for personal use. I asked the girl did she not see my name on both reservations? If my name is on the reservation, it is indeed for personal use.

Not a fan of all these new questions.

It’s standard for them to ask and I can understand why.

Our local grocery store asks all for ID, regardless when purchasing alcohol. It’s to protect the cashiers, especially those who are young having to make subjective decisions.

With it being the same for everyone, it ensures consistency.

late to the party again but here is the document i signed and read through i went purchased direct at CCV couple weeks ago.

personally after reading this. I zero zero qualms about renting out occasional reservation agreeing that those reservations are for personal use only. Everyone may interpret the document differently so ymmv.

Congrats on CCV! We all know that you can rent per the terms. Its just when CM get feisty with you and say you cant or make it difficult it becomes a problem.

Is this called the POS? Because if there's a next time ill tell them why do you need to know who it is because in the pos it says renting is allowed if thats what youre alluding to

Recently has there been multiple instances of CM's telling members they can't rent or making it difficult for members when they inform them a reservation is a rental?

but my take is that it's not worth discussing the nuance of the exact term with the cast member. They are being trained to ask it and all we have to do as owners is just answer "yes" and move on.

I have discussed this in more detail with CM once and realized that it was not worth the time and the headache as they don't make the final decision anyway. If it ever become an issue it will be with people higher up in the food chain.

the screenshot was from the Purchase Agreement for direct.

you can find your own POS document here for your own contract under this link https://disneyvacationclub.disney.go.com/collateral-docs.

I haven't had the chance to read through the documents but given what's in the purchase agreement I have zero problem just answering "yes" and moving on about my day.

The home resort rules and regulations state that you need to inform them when making a reservation for a guest that it is a rental.Screenshot 2026-01-16 123032.png

I hung up on one who said I had to be staying in the room. The phone staff have no clue. I really wonder how they handle an LLC calling in.

Wow, from CCV
if PURCHASER is not a natural person, PURCHASER is purchasing an Ownership Interest solely for recreational
use only by its officers, directors, principals, employees and guests.

I didn't see that in my SSR. What does this even mean? If an LLC buys, anybody can use it, but it has to be "recreational"? As opposed to what? Staying in a hotel for business? Staying in a hotel because your house burned down? A trust doesn't even have officers. What are they supposed to be buying for?

I did say yes and then she was demanding to know who they were, thats what tripped me up, she didnt let it go at yes

That's when i would answer as "it is for personal use, could you confirm that the change has been made?" If they won't drop it i would ask for supervisor.

This is what I mean when I said "it becomes a problem" You shouldnt have to have this interaction when calling in. You shouldn't have to have anxiety over it. You shouldn't have to ask for a supervisor. DVC really needs to do better. After all we all are still customers right? Where is the decent customer service? Imagine calling to book cash and getting berated for something.

Even in their POS document, they state that "Club Members and their Guest, exchangers and renters". They are acknowledging that we may do this and allowed even though they won't help us to find the renters for us.

After reading these documents myself. I agree with you.

they are misrepresenting the terms a bit to create unnecessary (imo) fear with the owners that do not know better or will not actually read the terms.

Did she ever inform them that it was actually a rental though as required? Telling a CM it is for "personal use" isn't the same as telling them "it is rental that falls under the terms of personal use". The fact she admitted that would be obvious the people names she was putting on the reservation were not connected to her in any way makes me think that the CM was just doing their job in probing further.

Well no because I didnt know i was supposed to inform them of that I dont read all that fine print and I bet 99% of people that buy dont.

Youre the first to point out that the rules and regulations say that i didnt even know what that document was called or where to find it. If they want us to know all that they need to tell us. They dont tell you about these docs at all. They dont go over this when we purchase. I just learned today that were supposed to tell them that and only because of disboards.
