Thanks for this. Really interesting. The main take-home-message to me is that there are WAY less FW's sold than I thought there was. 150 FW's sold at RIV out of how many total contracts sold? I'm guessing a few thousand, at least.

Through 1/30 data, (29th and 30th need to be proofed by the county)

One VGF FW 2BR Preferred View sold. Week 51 They signed in 12/23/25, so you could say it sold in December but county recorded on 1/5/26.

One RIV Studio Preferred View sold (week 49). Executed on 1/18/26 and county recorded date 1/30/26.

I just think the average user is uninformed about it because it's not actively marketed at all. There's also the misconception people have that if you buy a fixed week you can ONLY use it as a fixed week. It's actually crazy because there really is no downside aside from possibly having an odd number of points or buying more points than you actually needed.

IIRC, fixed weeks started at Aulani, because a healthy chunk of their Japanese customer base wanted to visit the islands for one specific holiday week each year---and maybe becuase that was a more familiar model to them.

My read on things is that once they created the mechanism to deal with them, the marginal cost of doing it at other resorts was minimal, and it gives Guides one more arrow in the quiver.

That's a good point, it makes me wonder how many FWs for Golden Week were sold at Aulani 🤔

I have always wondered why that week's points are so high compared to the rest of May. Maybe that's why?

We've been there twice during Golden Week, and didn't notice anything different - maybe it's different now, post-Covid?

Well wait.. here to show my ignorance. I guess I dont know when "golden week" is.
I think it's usually the first week in May. If you look at the AUL point charts, there's a week in May that's much higher point cost than the rest of the month. That's Golden Week - which is a big Japanese holiday in which many used come to Hawaii, although it's much less so after Covid.

We opted out because we never would use it, as we don’t do 7 night trips and if we did, it would always be a spit stay and to buy more than we need didn’t make sense.

But, for anyone who has a specific travel time and it’s high demand, I can see why.
