All About Fixed Weeks (RIV/CCV/AUL/VGF/POLY/TOWER/VHD/FWC Charts)

Yes, what a difference a few years makes! July 2021, I bought my FWs at RIV, and FW49 standard view studio was 122 pts; it was probably 111 pts before the 10% FW premium. Buying 300 pts put me at an incentive level of $180/pt, so about $22k for FW49 then.

I had no idea that the points charts were about to be updated; I'm not sure if I knew that was possible as I was first diving into DVC. I was more worried about buying RIV because of its resale restrictions, which I hate, and I almost canceled the whole thing. But I love RIV, and as long as I never have to sell, it is working out great.

But looking at direct pricing today, wow it has become a lot more expensive over the past few years.
I wouldn't be surprised if we continue to see increases in December pricing for point charts. Obviously it remains the most popular time to book DVC. I'm not sure if they're trying to balance out the decreased crowds from the cash side though post Thanksgiving by making early December relatively low on point charts.

I totally agree. I expect they will have to raise early December point charts at some point. That would curb some of the demand.

The low early-December points charts are a historical leftover from the 1990s when that was a time of low park attendance and vacant resort rooms. The DVC points reallocations of 2021-2024 did increase points costs for those weeks while lowering summer costs, but I don’t think they’re necessarily finished yet. I think they might be pausing re-allocations for a few years to see what effects those changes have. Maybe they’ll lower early May some more, maybe early February to match January - that’s when we like to go!

I'm not sure if you're referring to the FW point charts, but prior to around 2023 when they updated the language to "Favorite Week", they had never updated the FW point charts, ever.

Yeahhh as much as I love Poly god does it have the absolute worst point charts lol
At least for studios, that honor goes to Grand Californian for the periods that I've looked up, with VDH right there too (especially when you factor in TOT).

Ehh only against Poly's cheapest rooms isn't it? It looks like preferred and TPV cost more at Poly it looks like in the tower

Since you can't select a view at VGC, it does make it hard to compare. You could easily get a woods/resort/pathway view there.
