Wow I guess some of you are high ranking members of her fan club.
I don't care what Nicole Kidman does and I really don't care whether she cares about what someone says about her on the internet because I'm not here talking to her. I didn't expect any of you to care what I say about her either but apparently I was wrong about that.
I'm just sharing my opinion on a fluff thread, some of you take things, like what others think about the lives of celebrities way way too seriously. Lighten up, I don't think she's a great mother so what, I'm sure she still be raking in millions making movies for you all to still watch.

For others reading who aren't on the DIS (you know who you are), here's a shout out, so glad to get a thread of my own. It will be nice to read when I need something to laugh at.

There are no celebrities I can think of that I care enough about to weigh in on whether or not they're "bad mothers". So, apparently, you care a lot more about their personal lives than I do.

It was more of a general observation about posters who feel the need to really dig down and defend Nicole on here because of my opinion about her. I don't get why anyone cares what I think (not that you really care and are losing sleep over it LOL).


I totally agree about Jack Nickolson, he does make one's skin crawl. I think that is because he plays his creepy characters so well its hard to separate the "real" man from his movie roles.

I'm actually not much of a Nicole Kidman fan.

Having been fortunate enough to have wide open eyes and the common sense to walk away from a religion I found/find cult like I'm personally very aware of the havoc tangling with the higher ups can wreak on your life. (wish I could tell the story but alas against the rules) I'm just not willing to judge the woman based on what I do or don't know.

Eh... I think it's just the whole "bad mother", "abandoned children" thing, more than any real love for Nicole. Those are sore points for many of us.

SO glad to know there's someone else who gets how I feel about Jack, though!

I actually don't think the disagreeing opinions are even necessarily coming from people who are "fans" of Nicole Kidman.

I honestly don't really know one way or another what the actual details were (none of us do), but it has been portrayed as a cult destroying families and cutting off relationships between parents and their children. I think that's what people are passionately responding to... the tragedy of a situation like that. Not specifically defending her as a person/mother.

I am not particularly a fan, she comes across as a little "weird" and "off" to me, but if she was separated from her children in the above scenario then I can still have empathy for her.

Nope she had Suri in April 2006. They met in June 2005, engaged August 2005, married November 2006. Oh he tried divorcing her about 3 months before 10 year anniversary so he wouldn't have to pay her any money.

Cruise has been married twice to Mimi Rogers and Nicole Kidman. He adopted with Nicole. After both divorces, Rogers and Kidman were able to have children.

Conspiracy maybe. I use to think maybe he was gay, but from a lot of the interviews and specials on Scientology, I think he's just really into it or maybe asexual.

in the cult of Scientology you must have permission to have children. They have made women have abortions or got to their version of Scientology jail.

Heck she escaped good for her. She could have been Shelly Miscavige.

I do not think it is okay or fair for any of us sitting here on a chatboard should feel justified in making that kind of accusation.


I am also not going to make any assumptions or accusations about whether Tom Cruise is the biological father.
Maybe he is gay...
Maybe he does have fertility issues.
That doesn't mean he did not want, or feel compelled, to provide a child.
Especially under that kind of evil and pressure from this organization... The possibilities are limitless.

I am def. not going to make any assumptions that somebody who was influenced and manipulated and surveilled 24/7 got pregnant by any kind of 'affair'.

Maybe they went thru major fertility procedures.... (secretly, of course)
Maybe Katie was pressured into carrying another donors child, so that it would be believed that Cruise had produced spawn. (again, very secretly, of course)
Maybe THAT is the magic card that Katie and her father hold over Cruise's head, and that allowed them to make a successful break, with him just automatically 'agreeing'.

The thing is, NONE of us here know enough personal intimate details to make these kinds of judgements and accusations.
The one thing that we do know is that this organization is one huge and evil force to be reconned with.

I would defend ANYONE who has been a victim of this evil.

I would have no interest in whether anyone else might understand or have the same opinion. Has nothing to do with whether or not I am a fan.

It's funny, I thought the same people defending her actions as a mother would be the first in line screaming about it if it were a dad to do the same thing.

Just so you know, I have no respect for any parent who abandons their children, whether they are a mother or father. And yes I do consider what she did abandonment. I've read enough about her relationship with her kids with Tom to form that opinion. Just because you don't share it doesn't make what she did any less what it is.

Hmmm, if a very powerful member of a cult, who was also super rich, left her husband out of the blue, blindsided him and got full custody of teen kids. No, I don't think I'd judge him negatively either.


Meanwhile, I don't see you, or other posters saying Kidman did some terrible thing in relation to custody of her older kids, expressing the same vitriol for her ex in this thread. Does Cruise see much of Suri? Thank her at awards? And she is far younger than Kidman and Cruise's adopted kids were when that split happened, so Suri's opinion would carry less legal weight than that if her half siblings, right?

You quoted me earlier, so I feel like maybe you think I am a fan? I like her in Bewitched. That was cute. Off the top of my head that's the only film of hers I can think of. I've never much liked her work and I know very little about her personal life beyond ties to Scientology. As other posters say, I just find the OP totally off base given the context of the speech and the acusations of abandoned children and uncaring mother to be very harsh given what is publicly known about the situation.

I am not a fan of Nicole Kidman. However, I've watched enough celebrity "news" over the years to feel sorry for her that her adult children have disassociated themselves from her. That's just basic mom empathy, IMO. Her adult children are in a cult that she is not part of. That doesn't exactly make for normal relationships.

As to the original topic. I also watched the speech. She was talking about missed bedtimes, etc. Hardly something she'd be claiming with adult children even if she did have a normal relationship with them.

Hey, I asked a question because I thought it was odd, because I remember watching footage of her bringing her son home (I think), and like I said, she looked radiant. I didn't accuse her of abandoning her kids. I don't follow her or Cruise's career closely (I think the one and only film of his I saw in the theater was "Rain Man" and that was because of Dustin Hoffman, whom I love. As for Nicole, I don't think I've seen any movie of hers in the theater -at least I don't remember. I've seen them both on TV), much less their personal lives. and I didn't even know the kids names.

Some have said that she didn't mention them because they are adults. Others say that it is because it could hurt them. OK. I had no idea that Tom had not allowed them to have a relationship. I didn't know, so I asked.

And when I say that most thank all their children, I meant that most say "thank you to my children" in general.

I cannot imagine ANYTHING that would pull me into a connection with that kind of crazy and these women married him and had kids.

Both were quite young when they married him and neither have been actual members so they probably assumed they were safe from that. It was his sister "handling" them at first. Cults and followers slowly build trust in the people they suck in. Combine that with being madly in love and you have the perfect storm. I'm thinking by the time they realized what was going on it was too late. These women were NEVER left alone, always had "handlers."
