Interests in staying at a DLR Disney Hotel dropping...

Disney probably doesn’t want a lot of the former because they spend less on property.
When you say "on property" do you mean at the hotels or in the parks? I would argue that they sell more merchandise, food and drinks to Magic Key holders than they do to an average family on vacation.

I mean hotel stores (merch), valet parking, restaurants, bars, cabanas, pool dining…. “all in” spending per room.

Also, “on property” hotels are great for MK’s because they are never/rarely blocked out from the parks as long as they use the “hotel allotment” of reservations.

Not trying to crap on fans but...lets call a spade a spade. Online chat is not what the majority of people think, no one will care about the Rivers of America being gone once the new Carsland opens at WDW and most people won't want to replace the New Avatar E ticket with the old Monsters inc ride.
I think people will always miss Rivers Of America. I feel really bad for WDW! I'll miss Monster's Inc, too.

I have a timely question / situation regarding MPLL and staying on property at the DLH.

When buying the park tickets, I went ahead and purchased the MPLL in advance for each day. However, now with this additional MPLL instead of EE, do we still get to utilize the complimentary MPLL? Or is it something separate. I am not sure if anyone has experienced this yet, since it is so fresh?

Also, with being DVC with a WDW home resort. We had to book at the 7 month window, which resulted in two separate bookings with two different view types. With it being ONE MPLL per guest per DAY and we technically have two separate resort reservations will we get two complimentary MPLL?

With this being so fresh I am not sure.

part of the reason we prefer on site is because we have little kids and they really enjoy taking a break to swim at the disney pools and do the slides and take naps and when they wake up from their nap we usually do a character dining dinner and its convenient to have everything in one spot close

You are not receiving LLMP with your hotel stay. You are receiving are a LL for ONE MP attraction, effectively a MEP (multi-experience pass) that you can use on any one MP attraction without the need to book a time in advance.

As much as I love Disneyland and the resort hotels and coming from NY/Long Island to Anaheim, there is NO incentive to stay on site and I have always stayed on site. Corporate is cutting. I can easily go to Disneyland Paris which has 1 hour early entry or WDW which still has early entry. I prefer Disneyland but guess what people have other travel choices. $600 dollars at GCH a night with a sale is not the Ritz Carlton. Something has to give and will give. You can go worldwide now if you want a Disney fix.

We are from the East coast and it's a pain for us to go to Disneyland, especially when all the nonstop flights to SNA and LGB are no longer offered. There's no way I'm wasting more time staying offsite. It's GCH/DLH or stay home.

There are 3 per day from EWR and 1 from JFK to SNA.

There is a reason why people prefer staying on-site when planning to stay at Disneyland Resort hotels because if you are staying at Disneyland Hotel you get easy access to the monorail and the tram while at Grand Californian Resort you have your private entrance to DCA and the Pixar Pier Resort gives Pixar themed experiences. But ever since Disneyland did away with the free Extra Magic Hour for the mornings I think people had no desire to stay at the Disneyland Resort hotels since this happened. Because before this changed people liked staying at Disneyland Resort Hotels for the free perks because it was simple for families to do. Because if you stayed off-site imagine having to wait two hours for the hotel shuttle to take you back to the hotel to take your break then if you go back to the park you have to wait the same two hours for a shuttle to take you back to the park and then in the morning you won't have much trouble because people go when Disneyland opens. But what I think Disneyland will start doing with it's hotels is beginning in the spring Disneyland Hotel especially will lower it's prices and give guests a free coupon book that will give guests coupons for discounts on character dining merchandise and free stuff such as free Photopass photos and discounts at Downtown Disney restaurants and shops and it would be a cool idea. But I think Disneyland Hotel shouldn't be worried because they have gotten high marks every since the Disneyland Hotel villas were built for DVC members but we will see changes to Disneyland Resort hotels such as paid housekeeping room service will raise it's prices and possibly paid access for uses of the swimming pools and fitness centers

@DodgerGirl You bring up an interesting possibility. I doubt Disney would do it, but swapping early entry for printed PhotoPass pictures would be an incredibly desirable perk for park guests. I could see people buying a picture frame because they are already getting a PhotoPass picture for free with the hotel stay. There's no way they are actually going to do this, but I like the idea.

I'm staying at the GCH this summer and was shocked i don't even have any benefits of booking restaurants before offsite guests. I can't book restaurants for the length of my stay I have to wake up every morning and join the scramble like everyone else. I'm glad I'm DVC because if I was paying $1000 a night I would not be happy.

On the Disneyland website it does say that hotel guests get concierge help with securing a "limited number of held reservations". I haven't tried it, just saw it the other day, so worth asking when you check in, if there is anything you can't get on your own.
