Interests in staying at a DLR Disney Hotel dropping...

I think I've seen Luxury hotels are doing well, so I guess the Disneyland hotel just cost a lot but isn't providing what people want for the price

Like while I would love to be closer, most hotel on the street are like almost as close. The only hotel I really see saving you a ton of time is the Grand California and is by far the nicest hotel. So will be interesting to see if that hotel loses guests as well or if its nice enough and the perk of being steps away from Disneyland are enough to keep it at the same level of guests

I will say, think Disney does not care if the Disneyland hotel has less guests, they will just cut staffing and hours like they do in the parks
Then why do they run Disney Visa or Magic Key hotel discounts?

Then why do they run Disney Visa or Magic Key hotel discounts?
Its the same reason they have MKs and The discount tickets

They are trying to get "X" number of people. I don't know what the magic number is but they have it

Disneyland hasn't been 100% filled since after covid, they have changed what they want because if they wanted to fill up rooms, why would they take things away from the hotel room while raising rates

They know some fans will just pay

They run deals in the less busy times of the year but they rather have less people in rooms then go lower priced on rooms. We all know they could cut the price of the hotel rooms by 1/3 and still be making a major profit, but they don't because they rather have less staff and also less people means its "less stressful/you have less responsibly" meaning I'm sure they an pay CM's less at hotels then they should be as well

Disney is going to start doing dynamic pricing and I think most of us are going to be upset about it but....until fans stop going they can do whatever the heck they want

Last note, I'm on another theme park forums and they were talking about why we need another Disney hotel because of demand....so yeah its also funny to see how everyone views the situation differently and without date on how many rooms are empty. We are all just making comments based on our bias's and what we have heard over facts.

I bet they lost some guests when they made EE only half an hour, and getting rid of it all together just made things worse. I love the bubble but it gets harder to justify the cost when compared to what you can get for the same or less money on Harbor.

It's a shame that the resort hotels are SO expensive. I love their sales, but it's sad when I feel like I'm getting a deal because it's "Only" $675 a night. Some nights the rooms are over $1,000. But...some Harbor hotels ARE pricey, so staying at DLH or PP could be the same price, in which case I'd rather stay on property. The Dapper Day rate at the Grand is pretty good but still a couple hundred more than I'd pay across the street.

Another thing about the resort hotels that I don't like is you don't know which room type you'll get until you arrive. Every other hotel in the world can tell you what room type, bed configuration etc you'll have while booking, but it's a stressful mystery when staying on property.

What do you mean by this? Aren't you booking a specific room type? I have never and will likely never stay on property so I have never really looked at it.

I should rephrase. You choose the type, such as standard view, but you aren't sure of where it is in the hotel and how many beds you will have. The room size and bathroom layout vary, too. Unlike, say, the Hyatt where you basically know what you'll be getting.

What I found interesting is that it seems to me (at least on the dates I was looking at) that some of the nicer off property hotels are charging quite a bit more than they were before this change. Which makes me think off property demand is up. What is surprising though, is one in particular was the SAME price as an on property hotel. Which made me do a double take.
less competition from Disney anymore, so they can charge more.

That is just strange to me. So you could book a room and not know if you will have a single King or 2 Queens/doubles? What if I need two beds?

Exactly. You can request it, or add a phantom 5th person to your reservation to get the 2 beds, but won't know for sure until you get there. Once I requested a 2 queen room but got 1 king with daybed. Luckily it was only my daughter and me but would have been trickier if the whole family had been there.

It's also not as expensive to stay on property at WDW because they have three levels of hotel pricing. DLR only has one level: expensive. (Yeah, I know there's a significant range among the three hotels, but I wouldn't call even PPH "moderate.")
I agree. I checked PP, DLH, and GCH the other day for my trip this month and was surprised at how close in price they all were per night. I'm used to WDW pricing where a Deluxe hotel could be $600 per night more than a Value hotel and a couple hundred more than a Moderate (or more). On the nights I'm at DL, PP is $387, DLH is $432, and GCH is $555 per night.

Just for perspective and everyone is different but as a person who comes with friends or my wife

You can easily get motel rooms for under 150 bucks around the resort

So when people say its only 400-600 bucks. I mean your adding on 350+ dollars to your trip to save a few extra steps

If you have the extra money cool but I go to Disneyland for the park, I want to spend every moment I can in the parks because thats where all the shows, characters and rides are

The only thing that would have ever gotten me to the hotel is EE but with it gone who cares? You don't even have a special entrance you line up with people like me who spent 100's of less dollars.

But also people on here are still booking, so like I said. I don't think its coming back as long as people are willing to pay, who cares what a few fans online say. Money talks and Disney fans to me are mostly talk....we hate Star Wars.....then the The Mandalorian will come out and make bank on tickets and merch. We hate the new MCU and I bet you both Spiderman and the new Avengers make a billion dollars and then Hoopers will come out and not make as much as Zootopia 1 or 2, or Inside out 2 and people will complain "why don't they make original films as much"

Not trying to crap on fans but...lets call a spade a spade. Online chat is not what the majority of people think, no one will care about the Rivers of America being gone once the new Carsland opens at WDW and most people won't want to replace the New Avatar E ticket with the old Monsters inc ride.

I assume you mean not directly across the street on Harbor. I have found $159 at Desert Inn
I'm talking about hotels right across the road from the Pixar Peir/Disneyland hotel.

You can normally get a normal room for under 150 and even if they charge you for parking...its not 45 bucks like at the resort.

Once again wont be for everyone but if you just need a bed, I've never had an issue with the area its lean and safe and they just added Finney's Crafthouse to in the area and there is also a Dennys there for cheaper food options then at the DTD if you need food...plus some other smaller restaurants in mini malls around

Yeah, it all depends on how far you’re willing to walk and then your minimum room quality threshold. “Walking distance” can vary quite a bit from person to person (or especially family to family). If you’re trying to keep it to a half mile or less from hotel to gates, then you’re often going to be in the $200+ per night range (or more). If you’re willing to stretch that walk to 1.0 miles or less, though, you can definitely get them for under $150, especially on weekdays. My upcoming stay Is 1.0 miles away from the gates and three nights for $340 total including the taxes and fees. I definitely couldn’t find that within a half mile, though, especially at a place I’d want to stay with my family. Solo trips I couldn’t care less about which room I’m in. I’ve stayed in the cheapest ones in the area and they’re still acceptable for solo.
