Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

Now, that's what I'm talking about! Thank you!!

I do wish they had cabanas for rent, but I guess I'm just recently spoiled by Disneyland. :D

I'm a huge cabana advocate!!! I so wish they would add them, but it might feel cramped due to the layout Eagerly awaiting our 180 day window to book one for our days at the GF!

Right? I'm very pro-cabana!

I wish they had cabanas too. I'd rent one every trip.

Gf and the poly have them. Others may, but I have no idea which ones. AKL should as they have the space

Yes, We Have No Cabanas

(If you have been here awhile, you knew that was coming...) :rolleyes1

Has any of you beach club lovers stayed at a universal resort? Im considering on trying out the beach club for the first time or staying at universals portofino bay. Id like to knowwhich you enjoyed more. My split with disney and universal would be even and front of the line pass at universal wont be a neccessety so im basing it purely on the resort itself and how it makes you feel. Thanks!

:welcome: to the thread.

I have stayed at Portofino Bay once and Hard Rock Universal 3 times. Beach Club 5 times.

For my family (2 adults, 2 teen boys), location to the theme parks we are visiting is the biggest factor in where we book, so I'm not sure my input is what you are looking for.

Portofino was a beautiful resort, the main pool was gorgeous, love the food at Sal's. We prefer less fancy, more casual surroundings though and it was too far away from City Walk so I don't think we will be staying there again.

We love the vibe at the Hard Rock and the 5 minute walk to City Walk can't be beat.

Obviously, I have a pretty favorable opinion of the Beach Club. Location is awesome for access to EPCOT and HS, Stormalong Bay is incredible (and the lazy river is deep at points, which I like and is missing at the Hard Rock) and the beachy décor is totally our style.

I see you have had stays at GF and I always felt Portofino was similar to that resort and the Beach Club is comparable to the Hard Rock.

Just some quick questions since we always stay at either the BC or YC but this time we are only looking to stay one night and the cheapest rate is at the Beach Club Villas. And is it the same as the YC/BC that you can use the pool all day on day of check out

1. I would book this through disney with an ap discount if that matters, but are we allowed to use Storm A Long Bay? Yes
2. Is the check in time 3 pm? Our light arrives at 9:30 am. 4 PM You can request earlier, but it is the luck of the draw
3. Is there a lobby within close walking distance to check in since I am getting an of site wheelchair and will have to meet the provider personally since he is not one of the preferred ones Yes, but you will need to walk past the solarium to the front drive to meet the vendor. You might want to try meeting them as soon as you arrive, so that you are not walking to your Villa and back again later.
4. Do they give magic bands there? I am assuming if yes, we would all get one eve if its only one night. Yes
5. Would 2 adults and 1 adult ds fit comfortably in the room, if its a tight squeeze I gues we could put up with it for one night. I think it just says standard room? You will have 1 Queen bed and a pull out sleeper sofa. I think it is ok for 3 for a short time. My Adult DS sleeps on the sleep sofa in the 1 BR when he comes, and he says it is ok.

TIA for any info

See above
Enjoy

Just an FYI, The Polynesian no longer has cabanas for rent. There are some cabana-like structures at the Oasis pool but are available first come, first served. The cabanas at the Volcano pool were removed when it was renovated and were not returned.

Re:3 I assume hat you have to go to the main lobby of the Beach Club. It is a 5-10 min walk depending on room location, etc.
Re: 5, there is the queen bed, a sleeper sofa and now that the refurb is finished there is a single Murphy bed as well so three separate sleep areas if you want to sleep separately.

When you stay at the BCV on a cash reservation, meaning that you book through Disney instead of renting points, then it will be the same as if you stayed at the BC resort. You just have to walk to a different building and the room layout is a little different. You will get a balcony with your BCV room. Everything else will be the same. You will get MagicBands, you can charge to the band, you will get housekeeping services daily, room service is available, etc. There will be a coffee maker in the room instead of the single cup coffee maker. They will supply coffee with the room.

Is there anyone at BC now who can report on the bus stop situation? Is it necessary to use the shuttle to get to it or is it not really that far of a walk? We were looking forward to the bus monitor TV's, is there something like that set up? (I read somewhere about a CM with an ipad stationed there?) Is there seating? We're value folks most of the time, so we were hoping for the deluxe amenity of seating at the bus stops.

This is putting a damper on our upcoming trip and so I'm hoping someone can tell me that it's really not the big deal I'm making it out to be!
It looks like they moved the bus stop a few hundred yards from the regular BC bus stop. It wasn't a very far walk to the regular bus stop to begin with so even though it is moved over it still isn't very far. I know that it is hard for you to imagine what this means, since you have never been at the BC before, but this is not a far distance at all. :) Please don't let it worry you.

They aren't shuttling guests to the temporary bus stop. People are walking there. The temporary bus stop is located right next to the end of the villas building. They are offering to take guests over there in a golf cart upon request. People with mobility issues might want to do this.

Someone posted a picture of the temporary bus stop and it showed that it had a covered seating area. It had some benches. It is nice that they have a CM on duty to check on bus arrival times. :)

You can use the Yacht Club bus stop if you like the idea of seeing a bus monitor. It is covered and has seating. Many regular BC guests use it because it is the first stop on the route. :)

Checked into today at the YC. They did not have the greeter it front welcoming us by name but as soon as they asked our names they ran to get someone. Check in was super great and we were given the welcome drink upon arrival. Service has been outstanding and the new lounge is very nice. We received turn down early with nice Ghiradllis chocolates. We have a huge balcony that we share it is crazy big!!

That will be me in a few weeks... glad to hear your check-in was smooth.

Glad you are off to a great start.

SHUT UP!!! My grapefruit beer in the lounge?!? I AM PSYCHED!!! (I also want to try the longboard, too)

:banana::banana::banana:

My DH is going to be thrilled too as he loves the grapefruit beer as well!!

I have not stayed at the BC, since they changed the order of ME pick up there from first stop to second. They usually pick up 2x each hour, during the daytime hours. What are the approximate pick up times during the day? Do they still pick up five minutes and 35 minutes after the hour, or is it a little later now?

Two questions for you since you are staying CL right now and they are,

Did you have to ask for the Strawberry Champage or was that the welcome drink?

Also,

What is the current beer selection during the evening? Still hoping Bud Light is in that mix

The strawberry champagne was the welcome drink, they may bring you a glass if you ask. Beer was Yuengling, Bud Light, Longboard, and the grapfruit beer

About misinformation from the CMs, expect it. We were at MK and heading to Disney Springs. We asked a CM at the exit gate as we were leaving the park about the MK/DS bus, and she said it hadn't started yet and to walk to CR and catch the bus from there. Fortunately, the CR walkway is next to the bus depot and we saw on the sign that the bus service exists between MK and DS (after 4pm).

The following is a public service announcement! Attention ladies (And Gentleman)!!
I have exciting news! Not many people know about this but apparently Brad Pitt is back on the market!

This means that we must immediately start to build a trap to lure him into the Beach Club fantasy closet where he will become a captive. Currently listing on the shores of broken marriage we have Johnny Depp and Jon Hamm. If Matthew McConaughey wasn't so darn busy make all those car commercials we'd have him in there too...

So busy we must get! That Sunken Treasure machine 41t7idhv+KL.jpg ain't mixing by itself you know... We need a stud muffin like Mr. Pitt to add a little spice into the mix! Angelina Jolie can toss Brad off but We'll take him in no trouble!

If you spot Brad at the Beach Club be sure to send him Ninja Mom's way. I'll wrestle him into the fantasy closet and chain him to the Panini press. Rumor has it he makes a mean Cuban sandwich...

Throwback Thursday, indeed...

I just spent the last half hour down the rabbit hole looking for the original construction photos of the fantasy closet. Going back to 2011 thread, all I could find were the blue prints of the closet prior to refurbishment. The closet must have been discovered in the 2010 thread.

For those who are not familiar, the fantasy closet is the legendary utopia where guests who are not ready to leave the Beach & Yacht Club can go to live out their days in vacation luxury. Problem is, MM took the keys, and then misplaced the map!

I did enjoy the trip down memory lane where:

The Be Our Guest list was kept in different posts by others

The Noodle Swap was still in full swing

and we enjoyed posts by the second funniest person ever to post to this thread, before she buzzed off into the sunset.
