Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

Hi everyone

I am a little heart broken. Most of our trips have been very Epcot centered. From there our stays at beach club have made it very fond for us. After a family meeting of what everyone wants (dining res date is quickly approaching) it seems like 75% of our time will be spent at magic kingdom. This is new for us. Out of 12 days we have 2.5 Epcot, 1.5 animal kingdom and the rest Magic kingdom with one resort pool day. Hubby has asked me to book a MK area resort so lower commute times. I agree it makes much more sense. But after trying CBR and not liking, i am weary of something new. GF is out of our budget for the whine trip (our last two nights are there regardless of where we stay). I am not feeling CR. this leave poly, which i can get for under $500 total more. Will we like poly? Ahhhh I just want to stay at BC :(

Thank you to those who replied about the bus stop at BC. I really do appreciate it and I feel better about it now. I'm glad to know seating has been provided! We check in to BC in 9 days! Woohoo!

I :love::love: the Polynesian and we enjoy the Boardwalk Resorts (all of them). When our children were young and even as young adults, we always stayed at the Polynesian CL. Originally we began staying there for the access to MK, but we fell in love with the resort and its then staff in CL. We went every year until 2011. Once the kids flew the nest, my husband and I switched to Boardwalk Resorts and we haven't been back to (except to visit) the Polynesian. That said, if we weren't so focused on EPCOT--I would stay at The Polynesian without a second thought. We enjoy our stays at BC/YC, Swan, Dolphin and BWI as well as BWV and BCV, but The Polynesian will always be "home" because it holds so many fond memories for our family and has my heart. :worship:

Since you are MK-centric this go around--keep an open mind and enjoy all this resort has to offer--you may be very pleasantly surprised. :thumbsup2

 It's always tough to adjust plans, especially when you have had such good experiences there. But, I have to believe that a stay at any Deluxe Resort will be wonderful! :cloud9: Plus, you will be so thankful when, after a long day at MK, you just have a quick stop or two on the monorail!

The following is a public service announcement! Attention ladies (And Gentleman)!!
I have exciting news! Not many people know about this but apparently Brad Pitt is back on the market!

This means that we must immediately start to build a trap to lure him into the Beach Club fantasy closet where he will become a captive. Currently listing on the shores of broken marriage we have Johnny Depp and Jon Hamm. If Matthew McConaughey wasn't so darn busy make all those car commercials we'd have him in there too...

So busy we must get! That Sunken Treasure machine View attachment 196223 ain't mixing by itself you know... We need a stud muffin like Mr. Pitt to add a little spice into the mix! Angelina Jolie can toss Brad off but We'll take him in no trouble!

If you spot Brad at the Beach Club be sure to send him Ninja Mom's way. I'll wrestle him into the fantasy closet and chain him to the Panini press. Rumor has it he makes a mean Cuban sandwich...

 This does me no good. I'd advocate for Ms. Aniston :worship: to be included in this plan for those of us who would prefer her, but with my luck, he'd need a rebound, she'd let loose her repressed and unforgotten love, they'd reunite :love2:, and we'd all be left even more disappointed than when we started the whole crazy caper. :confused3

I think that you will love the Poly. It is a family favorite. I admit to preferring the rand (as does my 14 DGD, who I guess I turned into a resort snob LOL) but the Poly is no slouch either! It has a different vibe than the BC, but is equally relaxing, if not more so. The grounds are so gorgeous, plush and tropical. The rooms relaxing and inviting. The pools are great, but I have to say that the quiet pool is awesome. DD and her family stayed there more than any other spot in July. They said the food at the pool bar was excellent.

There is a smaller annex of the Mom's Secret Closet for Dudes Only. Invite whichever celebrity crushes you want and decorate as you wish. We will try to keep our special guests over on our side, but truth be told, I think it is the dual beverage dispenser, with Grey Goose Slushies on one side and Sunken Treasures on the other that keeps everyone here. However, your big screen tvs and beer kegs may be a good distraction.

HELP! COFFEE ... We are staying at BCV in a 1BR, starting 10/1. What is the coffee maker in the room? What supplies are provided? Trying to figure out if we should buy regular coffee or if they are pods, and also whether we need filters, creamer, etc.

Coffee Question! I got this! (at least some of this)

There is a 10 cup Mr. Coffee maker-style coffee maker in the BCV 1 BR and 2 BR villas.

Flat bottomed filters? I'll see if I can confirm this.

If you are staying on points your coffee will not be replenished daily and you should bring your own supplies. If it is a cash reservation, I think you will get a refill of coffee supplies each day

(Is that right, friends?)

Re:3 I assume hat you have to go to the main lobby of the Beach Club. It is a 5-10 min walk depending on room location, etc.
Re: 5, there is the queen bed, a sleeper sofa and now that the refurb is finished there is a single Murphy bed as well so three separate sleep areas if you want to sleep separately.
Regarding the Single Murphy Bed, if it is for a night or two, it should be fine with 3 adults or even 4. Would not do it for any more than 2 nights though. We "SQUEEZED" 4 of us into the Poly for 1 night as our older DS was only able to join us "last moment" so we had a Poly studio booked for DH and I, our youngest adult son and the eldest made 4 adults for 1 night. It truly was FINE, especially with the Poly having the 2 bathrooms, think that's what made it bearable, love that configuration! We were just in the room to sleep and shower, so we made due. PS. Youngest son said that the Single Murphy Bed was pretty comfortable! Enjoy BCV:beach:! Can't wait to see to return to BCV to see the renovated rooms for DH and my F&W stay!:drinking1

Of the MK resorts, I highly recommend Poly! One of the reasons is the transportation situation - direct monorail to both MK (via resort monorail) and Epcot (from TTC) is really nice. Poly is our kids' favorite resort - they love theming and Poly has it. Rooms are more spacious than BC (although I absolutely prefer the BC decor) and the chance of a nice view (even when booking standard) are very, very high. Our standard views at Poly have included pools, the lagoon, GF, etc. Nice to see the EWP from your balcony when you booked (and received) a standard view room!)

For 12 days, maybe consider a split stay. My family gets antsy after 4 or 5 days at one resort, so 12 would be a definite split stay trip. Not sure if that works with your plans or if your family would even consider, but thought I'd throw it out there.

That is correct about replenishment of the BCV. I know the 1BR and 2BRae have the 10 cup machines. I cannot confirm if they put them in the studios. They used to have small coffee makers

Well I can finally say - Can you please add us to the Be Our Guest list!!!

(oh and remember all the questions I was asking about that Beach Club Villa room. Well I went to book it and it was gone!!), so we got

Yacht Club Standard View
October 19 and 20

Its going to be dh, myself and ds3 who is a nurse. He works hard and needs a break and loves Disney.

We got a great ap rate so I am happy even though you know from my previous report I wasnt thrilled about our room.

I have made an executive family decision and have decided that if our room contains a picture of Captain Creepy again aka Captain Salty then ds3 will get the bed closest to him and I can wake up and look at dh instead of the captain!

I have made the obligatory adr for dh at Cape May Buffet.

Wasnt actually even thinking of going to YC but we have to slit our stay with the swan 2 nights, then yacht club for 2 and then back to the swan for one night. Didnt realize it would be so hard to get the rooms during F and W. So now I also have to change things to get in some swimming time at SAB.

And as another poster stated - It seems we are spending alot of time at MK this trip too, oh well. Still on the fence about MNSSHP. The $91 price is a bit much.

I have never done online check in. Do they give you a choice of rooms. I would prefer one with not that much walking and closer to an elevator.
TIA for any info.

When you do online check in, there will be a list of requests, from which you may select two. The choices are:
Adjoining room (no connecting door), ground floor, lower floor, upper floor, near elevator, king size bed

Since almost all of the rooms have a full balcony, that option is not listed.

If you booked directly through Disney, you can also call in a few requests to them, such as close to transportation, close to lobby, etc., which are not among the options in the online check in list.

Both the YC and Swan are extremely nice resorts, and I think you will like both. BTW, if you like, each resort is able to transfer your luggage over to the other, upon request. Bell Services can handle it for you.
