Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

That is correct about replenishment of the BCV. I know the 1BR and 2BRae have the 10 cup machines. I cannot confirm if they put them in the studios. They used to have small coffee makers

I have stayed in a BCV but have stayed in a BW studio and a OKW studio and both had the 10 cup Mr. Coffee.

I :love::love: the Polynesian and we enjoy the Boardwalk Resorts (all of them). When our children were young and even as young adults, we always stayed at the Polynesian CL. Originally we began staying there for the access to MK, but we fell in love with the resort and its then staff in CL. We went every year until 2011. Once the kids flew the nest, my husband and I switched to Boardwalk Resorts and we haven't been back to (except to visit) the Polynesian. That said, if we weren't so focused on EPCOT--I would stay at The Polynesian without a second thought. We enjoy our stays at BC/YC, Swan, Dolphin and BWI as well as BWV and BCV, but The Polynesian will always be "home" because it holds so many fond memories for our family and has my heart. :worship:

Since you are MK-centric this go around--keep an open mind and enjoy all this resort has to offer--you may be very pleasantly surprised. :thumbsup2
If this particular trip is mostly going to be spent at MK, I would probably agree that a monorail resort is preferred. We LOVE BC/BCV, but we have also stayed at the Poly twice and loved it too!:cheer2: CAN'T BEAT the convenience and viewing Wishes from the Poly beach, new Oasis pool, Volcano pool, etc. Walking to TTC is so easy! Perhaps next time, you will find yourself back at BC.

Permits were filed for construction to begin on the yacht club convention expansion. The expiration date is 3/31/2019.
Oh dear I hope that doesn't mean construction work while we are there next year.... I don't think my family could cope with that at all. Last year's trip was spoiled by workers at the WL we don't wish to repeat it all over again.

Unless you are there for a convention I don't think this will affect you too much. Maybe some parking spaces will be taken up but not too much more than that.

Throwback Thursday, indeed...

I just spent the last half hour down the rabbit hole looking for the original construction photos of the fantasy closet. Going back to 2011 thread, all I could find were the blue prints of the closet prior to refurbishment. The closet must have been discovered in the 2010 thread.

For those who are not familiar, the fantasy closet is the legendary utopia where guests who are not ready to leave the Beach & Yacht Club can go to live out their days in vacation luxury. Problem is, MM took the keys, and then misplaced the map!

I did enjoy the trip down memory lane where:

The Be Our Guest list was kept in different posts by others

The Noodle Swap was still in full swing

and we enjoyed posts by the second funniest person ever to post to this thread, before she buzzed off into the sunset.

:cool2:

Secret Closet Resort & Spa

Now, back to our regularly scheduled shenanigans!

:rotfl2:

Oh I don't think she "buzzed"... Didn't she retire to go live with her family in Las Vegas or was that a different wacky woman?? There have been so many posts over the years I don't think I can keep everyone straight. At least this is the kind of a thread where you can leave and then the next time you have a trip to WDW you can pop on over and check in again.

we
The strawberry champagne was the welcome drink, they may bring you a glass if you ask. Beer was Yuengling, Bud Light, Longboard, and the grapfruit beer

Perfect, I can not wait to have that first sip, and for the beer selection , its nice they swtiched it up and put in longboard and the grapefruit beer, i am just happy knowing bud light is still there

I think that Teena did retire to Las Vegas....

Phew that's a relief for sure! Thanks for putting my mind at rest:thanks::worship:

Well I can finally say - Can you please add us to the Be Our Guest list!!!

(oh and remember all the questions I was asking about that Beach Club Villa room. Well I went to book it and it was gone!!), so we got

Yacht Club Standard View
October 19 and 20

Its going to be dh, myself and ds3 who is a nurse. He works hard and needs a break and loves Disney.

We got a great ap rate so I am happy even though you know from my previous report I wasnt thrilled about our room.

I have made an executive family decision and have decided that if our room contains a picture of Captain Creepy again aka Captain Salty then ds3 will get the bed closest to him and I can wake up and look at dh instead of the captain!

I have made the obligatory adr for dh at Cape May Buffet.

Wasnt actually even thinking of going to YC but we have to slit our stay with the swan 2 nights, then yacht club for 2 and then back to the swan for one night. Didnt realize it would be so hard to get the rooms during F and W. So now I also have to change things to get in some swimming time at SAB.

And as another poster stated - It seems we are spending alot of time at MK this trip too, oh well. Still on the fence about MNSSHP. The $91 price is a bit much.

I have never done online check in. Do they give you a choice of rooms. I would prefer one with not that much walking and closer to an elevator.
TIA for any info.

:welcome: back!!!

I'll add you to the list, and I'll be on the lookout for you. I will be at the YC (first stay there) at the same time.

:cool1:

Oh, wow, I am almost tempted to add "No Captain Creepy" as a reservation request.

::yes::

Coffee Question! I got this! (at least some of this)

There is a 10 cup Mr. Coffee maker-style coffee maker in the BCV 1 BR and 2 BR villas.

Flat bottomed filters? I'll see if I can confirm this.

If you are staying on points your coffee will not be replenished daily and you should bring your own supplies. If it is a cash reservation, I think you will get a refill of coffee supplies each day

(Is that right, friends?)

:coffee:

Yes! Flat bottom filters. We bring those and a couple bags of Peets for our trips.

Recent changes at the BC include Bell Services moving to where Lobby Concierge located, Lobby Concierge moving to Front Desk, with Front Desk CMs eventually performing their duties by standing in Lobby with iPads.

There is also construction underway to build a fence around the Quiet Pool.
Even though the Quiet Pool is supposed to close late at night (10:00 p.m.?), there are always people using that pool well after that hour.

To me its always been the pool thats been open 24/7 even though it says it close 10/11pm but it never really enforced, unless people were to get to loud or something
