Disney Dream 12th January 2012

Wow..don't know why I didn't find this thread sooner! It seemed like we planned this trip so long ago and all of a sudden it's right around the corner! :cool1: Especially since the holidays go by so quickly! We will stay at OKW the night before and day after the cruise and I see we have some fellow hoosiers going (we live in Schererville)! With my oldest dd (15) and youngest dd (9) we couldn't stay any longer tho its killing my kids to be so close to WDW and not go! My dh and I cruised on the "big red ship" many years ago. I ended up sea sick everyday so am hoping this trip willl be better and that my dds don't have my weak stomach! As DVC Members we know the ins and outs of WDW, we are basicallly newbies of the cruise world! I am now trying to get as much info as possible and am glad I found you all! :goodvibes

We will be at OKW for a few nights before the cruise. Maybe we will see you on the bus!

So....it looks like there isn't going to be a FE gift exchange? I know with the holidays coming up this next month + is going to FLY by...and before we know it we'll be boarding The Dream! :cool1::cool1: Was hoping I'd see that there was interest in doing this. If there is...we probably should make that decision sooner rather than any later considering the holidays.

I would love to as it is our first cruise but it doesn't seem like many are! I hope we get some more interest. So excited that the cruise is less than two months away, its coming up quickly now!

Maybe now that our cruise is getting closer we'll see some real interest. I've done the gift exchange a couple of times...and the kids really love coming back to the cabin and finding surprises...and they really love getting the list of cabins and going out and leaving our gifts!
I'm traveling with DD12 too! And, my DS 12...Disney husband is coming too...this is his first...and my 10th! Also, along is DSIL and her family DH, DS 11, DS8. And, another family with DD 12 and DS 10 (?). I'm doing my own gift/FairyGodmother thing with "my group"... (BUT, would certainly be intested in being part of something here) HOWEVER, if nothing works out....I ALWAYS bring extra goodies/pixie dust to leave at cabins...it's my way of adding magic to someone's trip...So, since you have a DD...I'd LOVE to share that magic with y'all...If you feel comfortable sharing cabin #.....

My three kids and I would love to join the FE gift exchange. It's our first Disney cruise. We are from Chicago and I think it would be so much fun to participate in!!!

Ok.. With our 3 night cruise, what is the dress code for dining? I am getting confused while reading these posts. I know there is a pirate party but do we also have then the pirate menu at one of the rotations or is that for longer cruises? Told you I was a newbie! :rotfl2:

Oh good! We can even do it on a smaller scale and I think it would still be fun!! I know my daughter would really enjoy it. Hopefully more people will sign up once it gets closer. Now I just have to try to make (or order as I'm not very crafty) a FE!!

As far as dress code...you'll see a wide range....from casual to dressy. My feeling has always been...a cruise is a special...and we tend to dress up..everything from dressy casual to cocktail...

No there is no pirate menu on the 3 night. Also, I noticed on my online reservation yesterday that it shows Pirate Party as being on the Castaway Day...this is my 10th DCL cruise...and this will be a first...I believe it is a mistake...PP is usally the Nassau night..FYI

If you have any other questions...this is a great place to get answers!

My kids and I just started thinking about that this afternoon. It sounds like you are travelling with you daughter. It's funny because I am taking my mom and three kids on this trip. My husband and my mom's husband were unable to make it on this trip with us. Let me know your daughter's age so I can find something appropriate! Have a wonderful thanksgiving. Lisa

My daughter is 12! Do we start a spreadsheet or something for people that want to participate? I have never been on a cruise before so I'm not sure how people start up a FE Exchange!

Hi all! It's getting closer to our sail date and I was hoping we could get an idea of how many people would like to participate in the FE Exchange! :) If you are interested in participating, please send me a PM. I'll keep a list and send the final spreadsheet to you as soon as we have an idea as to how many people would like to join in. Even if it's a small FE exchange, it will still be fun! I'm brand new to cruising and to the exchange so if anyone has any good tips or ideas I would love to hear them! I'm assuming I'll need to know the names, gender and ages of the participants as well as the cabin number. Anything else? I hope we have some interest! Only a month to go!!

Unfortunately, I think we are going to pass on the FE. It's our first cruise and I know we are going to be so slammed with trying to fit everything into such a short cruise that trying to do a FE will be just too much.

Has anyone gotten their cruise documents in the mail yet? We just got everything for the WDW portion of our trip so I imagine we should be getting the cruise stuff soon as well.

We were at DL/DCA at Halloween and got the cutest video of DD on the teacups...

Unfortunately we are in the same boat. Between all the holiday parties, taking down decorations, my daughter's birthday on January 10th and a softball tournament which requires hotel stay the weekend before we leave..I won't have time to prepare.

As far as Disney docs I received magical express docs yesterday for our trip to OKW the night before the cruise. Somehow they didn't have our return ME info. (we are staying a night at OKW the night after as well.) I guess we will have to STAY! Lol! :rotfl2: Also nothing for the trip from OKW to the port, thinking I will be calling to check.

We got our cruise documents in the mail today!

So excited!! I can't wait to get ours! This is my first time going through a TA - does anyone know if the travel documents come to me through the TA or are they mailed directly to me? I know when we first booked I got welcome mailer that went right to the TA. Only a month!!

Cruise doc's are sent directly from DCL to your home address. It doesn't matter if you booked directly through DCL or thru a TA. :sail:

On Jan 13th, Beauty and the Beast is being released in 3D in theatres....that means DCL should be doing a premiere at midnight on the 13th!! I've cruised on previous cruises where they have done that! :):cool1:
