Disney Dream 12th January 2012

Let's see, get to port, check in. Grab friends, get dispeeps picture taken in dispeeps tshirt, make up a name for them to announce as you board the ship, grab a drink meet my new dispeeps from this thread say 3:30 @ 687 bar, then sail away party, then hoping for a suite life on deck time warp. Ahhhhhhhhh

I have a question but it's not very exciting. We've never cruised..ever! The ship looks huge so I was wondering if they give any sort or orientation or a tour for us newbies. I like to explore but it would also be nice to get a lay of the land so I don't have to wander around looking lost all the time! :lmao:

Another cute trick Disney dreamed up is when you get off the elevator to go to your room one side of the ship has a decorative fish out side you door and the other has a decorative seahorse. That part is easy.

First of all ronniek: :welcome:

Disney does what is called rotational dining. Each night you are scheduled to eat in one of the three restaurants and your servers and waitstaff will rotate with you. When you get on board there is a place where you can check to see what order you will eat at each restaurant. There are other options as well-Palo and Remy are adult only choices. They do cost extra (as they are not included in your cruise fare) and you have to make reservations. I can't say anything about Remy, but DH and I did Palo and loved it when we were on the Wonder.

I know others on this thread have more cruising experience, and they can help you as well. Congratulations on your birthday trip!:yay:

My dispeeps have done Palo and Remy on the Dream, loved them.....

We will be on our first Disney Cruise as well. Kids 20,15, 13 an 10 at the time. Hoping to make friends on board!

Our friend had thier 12 yr old with them on the 3 day last month, he made a friend first day and didn't see much of him there after, other peeps had their older boys with them, yep same thing, gone...

Hmmmmm I am almost 47 can't remember how to do that, can it be googled somewhere for the instructions?

I remember how but lack the proper motivation for running :rolleyes1 Proper motivation for me would include Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees, Michael Myers and the creepy masked dude from Scream wielding axes and chasing me relentlessly down a very dark alley :scared1:

You're so smart....:lovestruc

Aaaww

Or you chasing Jack Sparrow for ilisid acts....

The 3 day is way to short normally, but it is a nice winter dis meet for us. We probably won't get off the ship except at CC, glad to hear you are excited about the cruise.

We considered doing a longer cruise , but neither me nor my husband have ever been on a cruise before. I have migraine issues and I am a little concerned about motion sickness triggering a migraine. I figure a 3 day trip should give me enough of a taste to know if cruising is a good vacation option for us in the future.

Good option, our first trip was about 2008 did the ssmc 2008, only being
4 days I figured I would only be sick then 4 days ish, well hit the back end of a tropical storm we encounted 20 foot waves coming home and the boat just rocked and rocked and rocked, but didn't get sick only got tired of holding myself up, went to bed at midnight, and hubby went upstairs to
to film the pool becoming a wave pool... :rotfl:

so we have been hooked since.... awsomesause....

We spent last week at DL getting our last use of our annual passes. We had a fabulous trip, of course, and I tried to get DH to re-new our passes, but no luck.

While taking DD trick or treating last night, I met a guy on the next street over who commented on DD's Rapunzel costume. We started chatting and it turns out he works on the Dream! He is obviously off right now, but returns in about a week. Unfortunately, he won't be on our cruise either as he is going to Germany to pick up the Fantasy.

Looking forward to the holidays. I have told all of our relatives that Katie wants Disney gift cards for Christmas so she can use them to shop at WDW and onboard the ship...same goes for me! :P

Very cool about your neighbor!! And he even gets to pick up the Fantasy in Germany! :cool1:

I have also told the family that they should get Disney gift cards for my DD for Christmas as well. My trip keeps getting bigger and bigger by adding on some days before and some days after so I'll need the extra gift cards by then! I was very excited to do the online check in a few days ago - I booked this cruise so long ago and it finally seems more real now!

Not a clue! :lmao: They just had you enter the passport numbers for your party, enter the credit card info that you'll use on for your onboard account and pick a port arrival time. Then you print out a contract sheet or something that you sign and bring with you to the check in at port. I guess you do it all beforehand so it'll save you time at the port when you check in...I think! I was just excited to do it because it seems like like I'm one step closer to our cruise.

What are the benefits of an online check in?

It makes things at the port much more smoother..... pick up the health questionaire at the info dest at the top of the stairs go straight to the line zip zap zango, your done.... then hang out til ya board....

We're booked on a Dream cruise in October, but DH and I heard some Florida Resident rates were out so I checked them on online and they were too good to pass up. So.....we moved the cruise up and our going on Jan 12!! yay!!

We're not telling the kids yet, may keep it a secret and tell them on Christmas morning. Not sure.

I'm so excited!!!!! :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Palmtreegirl, how old are your kids? I am bringing my 3 kids...twin 12 year old boys and a 15 year old daughter. Hoping there will be similar aged children on board.
