Hi all!! :wave2:

I didn't have time to do a thorough check in, but I will later, probably tomorrow.

I just wanted to share...........................

WE GOT HANNAH MONTANA TICKETS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

We (or I should say Kevin - he's so proud of himself) got 4 tickets, and the lucky people going are Me, Stephanie, my friend Jennifer, and her DD. The girls don't know yet, because Jennifer's going to give the tickets to her DD for Christmas, and I'm not going to tell Stephanie until the concert day that we are going - what a surprise that will be!!!!:yay:

So that was our excitement for the day
Talk to you all later!!!!
Congrats, Slo! :yay:

Hi everyone and thank you for all the get well wishes.

I am still in a lot of pain. The L1 vertebrae is the one I broke. It is about midway up my back, maybe 1/3 actually. Fell Sunday and was released yesterday evening from hospital.

Hoping for improvement. Be careful on slick surfaces everyone.

Will write more when I can sit here more. Hugs..

Blah! So how many of you got dumped with the snow today/tonight?!
We actually spent the day downtown:

But a few hours later those buildings were invisable haha
It was a cold harsh evening tonight there! Then we came home (about 40 miles south) and we have sooo much stinking snow here. This was about 2 hours ago.. and now you can't even tell we shoveled.

n69600715_30966700_6529.jpg

and of course it is still coming down pretty heavy at almost 1 am...

I think we got more than a dusting here. I sholved the "dust" last night when I got home around 9:00 and I'll have to sholve again.:sad2:

Slo Yeh! For you and Stephanie she and her friend are going to be so excited.

Carol Glad you posted. Just relax we will be here when you feel like sitting. and talking.

Jacklynn It looks like downtown fared better. The winds were pretty bad last night.

DD's concert at the hospital was nice. Although I felt like we had a TON of parents in the lobby. I was just trying to stay out of the way of the operations of the hospital. It was cute.

Slo -- Congratulations on the Hannah tickets.

I think I missed welcoming some new posters -- welcome.

As for us with snow -- I looked outside this morning with dread because I heard the snow plows going by several times, plus listening to the weather report. Our church Christmas program is today. DD is IN the program and we have to be there early for those last minute tweaking.

I looked outside and our road is perfectly clear, there is just a *small* amount of snow in the driveway -- based on looking at DH's car wheels since he parks in the driveway, I don't even need to shovel to get out today. It's a small enough amount I can just drive right over it. WHEW!!! I really didn't want to have to get out there and shovel this morning.

Thank goodness - all the Christmas parties are over for this weekend :cheer2: Last nights party was at Harry Careys, and it was very very nice :goodvibes But the drive home was quite challenging - it took us 1 1/2 hours - poor Kevin white knuckled it the whole way home:headache: very treacherous!!!!!

Today we were hoping to do some last minute Christmas shopping - gift certificates, pickup HSM2 at TDS, make some candy trays at the candy store - but I'm not sure if we are going to now - lots and lots of snow!!! I do have to go back to work today and work on someones frame package, but I'm not sure when I'm going to do that either - we'll see how the day goes:rolleyes:

Thanks for all the congrats on us getting Miley Cyrus tickets - I am very excited about it - it's hard to keep it from Stephanie. But since Jennifer wants these tickets to be from Santa for her DD, I can't say anything - so mums the word for now :ssst:

geffric - I"m glad Erics band concert went well :) What does he play?

Jacklynn - Welcome!!!!!!
Thanks for joining us!!!! :goodvibes We are an awesome group of people, and I think you are going to really enjoy visiting with us. We look forward to getting to know you better!!!! :)
*Very nice picture of you!!!! :goodvibes We were downtown too last night, and you're right about not seeing the buildings - I've never experienced heavy snow downtown before.

Rose - How did Matthews audition go yesterday? :)
*Congrats on receiving your plane tickets :cheer2:

Crissup - Thanks for keeping us updated on Carol :)

HERSEY - How was your early Christmas party with your family? :)

Mac - :wave2:

Carol - I"m so glad you're home:cheer2: , but so sad to hear what happened to you :guilty: Sending lots of hugs  and PD your way :wizard: to get better really soon!!!!!

Becky - I hope your DD has a great Christmas program today :)

Well, I gotta run and get ready for our day
While I was posting, Kevin and I decided to go out for our errands today, and we decided to get started early so the girls can play in the snow.

Have a good and safe day today everyone!!

Thanks for the warm welcome! I look forward to getting to know you all :)

When it was all said and done this morning we had about 10 inches.

Anyways, like I said I look forward to getting to know you all, I hope all is well :) I don't remember if I said it or not, but our trip is May 7th-14th. It is a make up honeymoon trip mixed with a 1st anniversary trip and a college graduation trip lol. Should be a great time. It will be DH's first time.

Jacklynn - Yay, you found us! :yay:

slo - Congrats on getting the tickets! Stephanie will have so much fun! :thumbsup2

Carol Ann - I'm so sorry about your back. :guilty: It sounds awful. I hope you start to feel better soon.

We had our company Cristmas party last weekend, on Friday night, at the Hyatt on E. Wacker. They have an area they've set up in the East Tower lobby area to be kind of a bar, and it was there. It was nice, except there was a big fountain are in the center, so you had to walk around it to get anywhere, and it was kind of cramped. And of course the Accounting dept. all ended up in the most cramped area, by the bar. But it was fun to talk to everyone and meet some spouses/girl/boyfriends that I hadn't met before. They had a mashed potato bar, which was interesting, and surprising good. They had martini glasses that you put the potatoes in, and then they had toppings like cheese, bacon, sour cream, etc. So everyone was walking around eating mashed potatoes out of martini glasses with a fork. :rotfl: They also had a cookie bar, with plain cookies that you could decorate with frosting and sprinkles and stuff, but unfortunately I was too full to try that. They had dancing, and more and more people joined in as they got more and more drunk. ;) It was the first Christmas part I've been to there. Remember last year how it got cancelled because of the shooter in my building? :scared:

I need to go to Border's today and look for a Secret Santa gift. I hope I can find what I'm thinking of.

I hope everyone has gotten shoveled out! :thumbsup2

I think we got more than a dusting here. I sholved the "dust" last night when I got home around 9:00 and I'll have to sholve again.

Fortunately, the snow wasn't too bad here. I think we got around 4 inches. Carol only had to come in for warm up two or three times before she was done with the snowblower. :lmao: :rotfl2:

Yes, I'm kidding!! ;)

Did everyone get dug out of the snow?
We got about 10 inches at our house, and the girls had a blast playing in it yesterday afternoon. Stephanie stayed outside for over 2 hours, and I finally called her in because it was dark out, and I thought she would be freezing - but she said she wasn't - I must have bundled her up real good:thumbsup2

Jacklynn - I bet you are having fun planning your WDW trip :goodvibes Where are you staying?

Leigh - I love love love the idea of that mashed potato bar - YUMMY!!!!:goodvibes I'm glad you had a nice time at your party, and I do remember that shooter in your building - I can't believe that was a year ago:eek: Time really flies by to fast!!!!!
*How are you enjoying your first Christmas season in your own home? I bet you had fun decorating - I know I did the first couple seasons that I was in my own house.

Mac - Thanks for the listing!!!! I need to set the DVR for Tuesday night - I want to see that Samantha Brown Christmas show :)

Crissup - Having Carol snow blow :sad2: You're so bad!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
In all seriousness - how's she doing today????
Sending tons more PD her way :wizard: :wizard:

Well, I'm off to get ready for work - I have to go into work early this morning
Have a good day today!!

Yes, I'm kidding!! ;)

You are such an evil man. I hope Carol pushes you into the snow when she feels better.

Leigh I love that idea of the potato bar.

Still on the pain meds and creeping around with my cane here. Mostly sit up in supportive chair during the day, but spend only a few mins here at my desk. So not much internet for me right now.

I did try to shop online some. Will have to fill in the rest of the gifts with gift cards I guess.

Bad enough I had to snow blow the driveway, but watching John sipping hot cocoa in the window was too much to bear....

JUST KIDDING! LOL!

Howdy! :wave2:

Thanks for the concern about my mom everyone.
She got out of the hospital today.

Ok, somebody please tell me that I am not the only one here who isn't finished with their Christmas shopping??
Hopefully I will finish before the weekend!! Or at least by Saturday!!! :thumbsup2

Leigh Potato bar sounds good to me!!! I wouldn't care whoat I carried it in!! :rotfl:

slo That's great that you got tickets to HM! Why wait to tell Steph till the last minute though?

Carol Good to hear your home! Hope your on the mend soon!

Gotta run!
Take care all!!!

Hey, everyone!

Welcome, Jacklynn! I am new here, too, and getting to know everyone.

Slo - Way to go on the Hannah tickets. I was joking with my ds about trying to get Hannah tickets. And then he shows me a full size magazine picture of her that his friend gave him. Hmmmm.... And then I find him looking at teen movie type magazines at the store yesterday. Maybe a crush?

Leigh - I was at a party a couple of years ago where they did a mashed potatoe bar in the martini glasses. I thought it was fun. I wanted to do it for our Christmas day celebration but I can't make mashed potatoes unless the come from a box. Something about boxed mashed potatoes in martini glasses just didn't seem right!

We are at Brookfield Zoo at Holiday Magic when it started snowing Saturday. It was beutiful! Wet and cold snow but beautiful.

Leaving work and heading to ds band concert tonight. He plays the bass clarinet. DH is taking him to warm up at 6:00 and get in line to get seats. The doors don't open unitl 6:45 and it is a madhouse.

Take care, everyone.
Lori

Hi, Chicagoland friends!

Welcome to all the newcomers! Looking forward to getting to know everyone.

Slo..you totally cracked me up when I read your TGIF post, and then you realized it wasn't *quite* F! :rotfl2:

Carol...welcome home! I hope you continue to feel better.

Bunchkin...I am not finished with Christmas shopping, yet. So, nope you are not the only one. How is your mom doing?

Rose..I'm sorry about your father. On a happier note, I hope you have a great time dreaming of your upcoming trip.

Leigh...I can't even begin to imagine eating mashed potatoes out of a martini glass! Did you take some pix? How are things coming along with your new place?

Mac...thanks for the tv listings. Did any of you see the Samantha Brown holiday special yet? I wasn't overly impressed with it; I think it kind of focused a bit too much on Animal Kingdom and rushed thru a lot of other stuff.

Momto1: I hope your son's band concert goes well. Most everyone here knows that my oldest son is a high school music director, so I have a special place in my heart for music!

Jacklyn...when you go to Disney, make sure you get a "first visit" button for any first-timers. We saw a lot of those floating around when we went down recently.

Hersey...are the doggies liking all the snow? My little Binx kind of gets lost in it, being that he is only 8 lbs and very tiny!

Everyone...have a good evening. Stay warm and dry!:)

Good evening all.
Went out to go to work yesterday morning and there were 2 huge snowmounds where 2 cars used to be.:lmao: :rotfl2:
Came back in the house to call work and say UMMMM think I'm going to be a little bit late!!! :rotfl: Took DH and I an hour to shovel out for me to leave. Then, the road I travel looked like a snowplow driver was having a lot of fun. It was plowed out all curvey. Usually a fairly straight road. Must have had one too many hot toddys.
Rose and Bunchkin, hope your parents are on the road to recovery very soon.
Slo, congrats on those tickets!!!! How on Earth did he get so lucky? DH tried here for an hour. No luck. I had to work or I would have been trying like mad myself. DD will just have to settle for the 3D movie. My heart isn't breaking. It is a school night after all. DD would never have gotten up the next day, and after missing days for the Nutcracker, she can't afford any more days off for no good reason. However, if 2 tickets found their way into my lap (for cheap) I wouldn't turn them down.
CarolAnnC, hope you are getting around a little better. Stay off the ice!!!;)
Welcome to the newbies. Join us often.
Well, I'd better get a move on. I have to get my cards addressed to be mailed tomorrow. And, no, I have not finished with my shopping yet, either. Good luck to all of us still on the hunt for the perfect gifts.:rolleyes1

:surfweb:

Last night we went to a town meeting to fight someone trying to connect to our street, so they can put a 5 house subdivision into the forest I talk about. This subdivision could cause so many problems for us residents - flooding being the biggest problem. Luckily the residents were very vocal, including myself, and the town said we'll meet again next month to discuss it, and the developer needs to get more information that we, the residents, will be safe.

My college employee comes to work today!!! :cheer2: Which means I don't need to work until 7pm:cheer2: But unfortunately I can't go home, because I have a Chamber of Commerce meeting at 6:30pm. So my friend Jennifer and I are going to go out to dinner, and then go to this meeting. Even though I can't go home, it's nice to know that I can leave the store for awhile :)

HERSEY - :wave2:

Carol Ann - I would definitly do the gift cards instead of stressing about buying anything else. Everyone will understand!!! Contined PD being send your way :wizard:

Bunchkin - That's great news about your mom!!!! Sending her continued PD that she's able to stay out of the hospital this time :wizard:
**I always wait until the last minute to tell Stephanie about anything, unless it's vacation. I'm so nervous about her getting sick, and not being able to attend, that if she doesn't know about something, than she won't be sad when she can't go. She's not sick much now, but when she was younger she was sick all the time, and I guess I'm now paranoid:rolleyes: With these tickets there's an added reason on top of the other reason, and that is Katie. She will be so sad that she can't go, that I don't want Stephanie talking about it all the time. If she doesn't know until right before, it gives Katie less time of having hurt feelings. So mums the word for right now :thumbsup2
**How have you been feeling with the stress of the holidays, and your mom being in the hospital? Has your heart been okay? I worry about you

momto1 - How was your DS's band concert last night? I"m sure it was great!! :)

Donna - That post makes me laugh too :rotfl: I was in a daze that morning!!!:upsidedow

TTTTTTTTiiiiiiiiiiggggggggeeeeerrrrrrrnnnnnnnn - It was Kevin that got the tickets, and he was very proud of himself after he got them :woohoo: :woohoo: I don't know what his secret was, but I'm sure he will keep that secret under lock & key:rotfl: We are going to the 3D movie also, my friend bought the tickets for all 4 of us for Christmas - the girls will love that, especially Katie, since she can't go to the concert.

Well, I gotta run and go wrap some Christmas presents :santa:
Have a good day today everyone!!
