working today.
and after the skool bell rings, only one more day til the weekend

G'Morning Everyone!! And welcome Lori!!

Update on Carol. She's still laying in the hospital. They wanted to do a kyphoplasty on her, but she's decided not to have that done for a couple of reasons. So, at this point, it's get her fitted into a back brace, get her switched from the morphine injections to an orally administered pain med and get her the heck out of there.

Still not sure which day that will be though. So, everyone keep your fingers crossed for her. It perks her up when I tell her about everyone sending their good wishes to her. :)

Have a great day all!!

Welcome Lori. :welcome:

Sending more pixiedust: to Carol.

I read an interesting article in a local newspaper today. Apparently the Ellen DeGeneres Show was here taping our Christmas walk & tree lightening because someone entered us in a contest for picture-perfect town on "Wish You Were Here". Of course, this aired Dec. 11 & I'm reading about it today. We won 2nd place behind a town in AZ.

Is it *really* that strange? One of her people is quoted as saying "I've only heard of towns like this, but I never knew they existed"

I thought ALL states have these type of towns somewhere along the way. Of course, I've never been to CA so maybe they dont? I just find it so bizarre that someone is so surprised by our town & I don't even consider where I live a "small" town -- to me that would be even WAY farther west -- past DeKalb, etc... I feel like we are practically part of the city the way it is now anyway.

If we keep this up we will just have all sorts of famous people coming around and I'll never know it! :lmao: Considering I've had to read about it both times AFTER it happened. Other than when they changed downtown for the Tom Hankes movie (that was obvious).

Just thought I'd throw that tidbit out there for whatever it's worth.

Today DD is singing at the hospital with her voices choir, so that should be fun as parents can go watch them, so I've arranged for me to do that. The poor boys are going to miss their stuff (well DS-10 doesn't care since it's just tutoring he's missing! ;) ) but I can't make it work otherwise and it's the first time parents can come watch them do a performance.

Hi all-
I haven't been on this thread in a few days.

Crissup- so sorry Carol hurt her back and is in the hospital
Hope she gets better and out of the hosp soon! :wizard:

Hugs to all who need it

Congrats to all who need it :cool1:

Life has been very busy lately.
My dad has cancer and will start chemo in a couple of weeks, the day after Christmas. I just saw him last night, as I haven't seen him in a month. He looks really horrible, lost alot of weight, from the cancer and not eating real well. :sad1:
We'll battle this disease!

Ok, take care everyone.

Howdy!

Well, my mom's back in the hospital as of yesterday. She went to her doctor yesterday morning for a follow up visit regarding the infection in her hand & arm. And the doctor said it looks worse and she ordered her back to the hospital. At least this time she has a room to her self. We're hoping that after getting the right meds this time around she will be release soon!!
Hunter and I visited her earlier this afternoon.

Sam I can't understand why Kerasotes was not showing up with available dates for the concert. :confused3 Strange!!!

Are you talking about going out on the 22nd or the following Sat?
Let me know!

Lauren and I caught the Oprah show the day before Thanksgiving were she introduced the new AG doll of the year.
I don't recall her name, but she ice skates. She also has three brothers and is trying to deal with being the only girl in the family. She looks a lot like Lauren. Red hair, blue eyes and freckles.

Slo Have fun at the Christmas parties!!!

Rosemarie Sorry to hear about your dad.

John How long will Carol Ann be in the brace? Tell her we all wish her well!!

Well, I'm off to go pick up Market Day, grab some dinner, then stop at the store for a few things, then get the kids ready for bed.

Tomorrow I'm supposed to go work at the head room mom's house for Hunter's class in regards to the craft for their Christmas party, but Tony told me he wants to go Christmas shopping together tomorrow. I wish he would have told me this earlier.
I did some major shopping yesterday and today. YIKES!!!

Have a great night all!! :wave2:

John Let Caroll Ann know we are praying for her speedy recovery. I hope her pain eases soon.

Rose Sorry to hear about your dad. Prayers for him also.

Bunchkin Hopefully your mom with be on the right track this time.

Got to go flip the laundry and eat dinner.

Thanks for the warm welcome! My prayers and positive thoughts go to those and their loved ones who are in the hospital or dealing with illnesses.

Bunchkin - Today was our Market Day, too. Do you by any chance pick up at Grand Prairie? That is where I pick up. My son, Jonathan, went to school there. Now he is in middle school without Market Day. I love Market Day so I support the grade school.

Good luck to all of you who will be trying to get the Hannah tickets on Saturday. I am glad I have on only boy!

Dh will be "trying" to come home from Boston tomorrow. They are having a huge snowstorm. Please spread some Pixie dust for me - he has been gone for 2 very long weeks!

Lori

I am not sure I an keep up with you all, but I promise I will try. I just realized that in 100 days we are leaving for Disney! I am so ready to go "home". Anybody else going March 23 - 30? Looking forward to getting to know you all!
Lori:cool1:

Hi Lori and Welcome!! Spring Break at WDW.. seems like all of the 'burbs empty out and go to WDW.. We aren't going then but have a great time..

Geoff is downtown at a model UN conference this weekend.. It is very hard to let them go and be on his own .. but then.. I gotta do it 'cause I used to go downtown with friends without an adult in high school.

Hi Everyone! Someone told me about this thread and I thought I would join in on the fun :)

About me: I am a 20 year old college senior graduation from a university just south of Chicago in May,woo hoo!
My husband is 22 and will also be graduating in May from the same university.

We are going on an anniversary/graduation/make-up honeymoon/need to get away trip in May. My DH has never been to the world! I have been twice though.

You can read my poor attempt at an early pre-trip report by following the link in my siggy. It's not really all that interesting yet, but as it grows closer I hope it will.

Unfortunatly I am not even going to attempt to read through all of these posts... I hope I am able to keep up :)

Hi all-

Welcome to all the new posters! :welcome:

Crissup- hope Carol is out of the hospital soon :wizard:

Bunchkin- hope your mom's infection in her finger and arm goes away :wizard: Hope she gets out of the hosp soon.

Best wishes to all that are trying for HM tickets tomorrow!

Thanks to you all for your prayers and support for my dad. I was shocked to see him so thin and frail, as my mom didn't warn me beforehand. My parents don't want attention drawn to my dad, as he gets depressed about it.
I do think he will feel better once he starts up the chemo or at least finishes the chemo.

On better news, Matthew is going for an audition of our school variety show this afternoon :) . We leave to go back to school a half hour after he gets home from school for hte audition. He wants to play his clarinet for the variety show :) Last night, the kids did a school project and went shopping at our local Target, for a Misericordia shopping night- this is for school. DH went with them last night.

Oh, I got my airplane vouchers via UPS on Wed- the ones that I won :cool1: I have up to mid-October 2008 to use the vouchers. The airline is USA3000 that we are using. Not familiar with the airline, but I know it departs from O'Hare.

Have a good day everyone.

Thanks everyone for your concerns and your prayers.

Carol was released from the hospital this afternoon. Now she's at home recovering. She's still in pain, of course, but at least she's not stuck in that hospital room. I'm sure she'll try and find time to post more of an update in the next day or two.

John I am glad Carol is at home now. I hope the pain gets more bearable for her.

Today we get together with my family for an early Christmas. I'll find out today if my Aunt and Uncle are still going out east for Christmas. They got hit hard with our ice/snow storm.

It looks like a good day to stay inside and sleep. Too bad my dogs don't think so.

:welcome: :welcome: to the latest chicagoland homie here:
jacklyn !!

so glad you stopped by and hope you do again soon.

rose usa3000 main hub is out of DC. they have a great record.
i checked them out for orlando last year as their prices were very cheap.
didn't use them as you fly from ohare to DC then to orlando.
i like direct flights as i am too anxious to get there...

that's great your tickets came!

carol ann/ john, keep us posted on the progress. glad to know she is home now.

Thanks for the info, Mac :thumbsup2
I did Google the airlines and checked their website recently. I think they have direct flights now, to Orlando, or direct flights to Tampa, then a connecting flight to Orlando. The radio station that I won from didn't say anything about if it is a direct flight or not. It doesn't mention anything about the flights, just phone #'s to make plane ressies and codes on them.
I guess we'll see what happens whenever I make the ressies :scratchin

Anyone try for the Hannah Montana tickets this morning? I wasn't going to at first, then DH said we really should try
No luck :sad2: I tried a full hour. Well, it's on a school night for us and Matthew has a band concert the following night. Maybe try to see the movie :)

Hi all!! :wave2:

I didn't have time to do a thorough check in, but I will later, probably tomorrow.

I just wanted to share...........................

WE GOT HANNAH MONTANA TICKETS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

We (or I should say Kevin - he's so proud of himself) got 4 tickets, and the lucky people going are Me, Stephanie, my friend Jennifer, and her DD. The girls don't know yet, because Jennifer's going to give the tickets to her DD for Christmas, and I'm not going to tell Stephanie until the concert day that we are going - what a surprise that will be!!!!:yay:

So that was our excitement for the day
Talk to you all later!!!!
