Chicago area Diser's - check in here Part 4

Good Morning all.

Wish me luck, I have to go Christmas shopping today. Nothing like waiting to the last minute (well...not *quite* last minute). I was looking at what I had and my DD has a TON of stuff and my DS-7 has nothing. Oops! They all do have their special Santa books they get in their stockings but otherwise, I have lots of ground to cover.

The hardest part is my 7 year old is not easy to buy for. All he wants is Pokemon, Yu-gi-oh, Digimon or Neopet cards and that's IT. Those cards are expensive (or at least they were in the past), so even getting him a couple of those, I really feel like I want to get him something else bigger but have no clue what to get. So, it's going to be a wander around the stores until something jumps out at me and says "I'm perfect for him" -- which may not happen. :o

My mom took the little guy to spend the night last night so basically I'm kid free to go shopping. Woo Hoo but watch me be lost as I'm used to him being with me.

I was kind of waiting because we are getting a few gifts from somewhere else so I was waiting to see what they got before I went and ended up with duplicates. I will find out this morning before going on my shopping spree.

Tiggern2 -- that's how I was thinking for DD for the HM tickets. I kept going back & forth but decided not to try because it IS a school night and this girl is hard enough to wake up regularly. I knew how late we got home after the High School Musical concert -- it was way past midnight! Plus we already got tickets for the 3D movie, so I figure that's just going to have to be good enough. We also have High School Musical on Ice tickets for later in Jan. As much as I know she would have loved to go, especially with Aly & Aj, I just couldn't see spending more money for DD at the moment. Of course, I didn't even give it a try so who knows if I would have gotten tickets or not. :rotfl2:

Off to take the munchkins to school.

Hey Everyone...

I feel like I've been so MIA lately! Sorry bout that! I've just been so busy... like that long hallway in your dreams that keeps getting longer and longer and longer... Ugggh! I will get some stuff accomplished tonight though and I did get a ton of stuff done yesterday! Tonight, I'm making cookie dough for my kolachkys. I didn't make them last year, just bought some at the store, and it just wasn't the same. So, between that and just getting all Christmas'd up, I've been crazy. I've had a lot of this to do as well lately...

:laundy:

DH doesn't always believe in coats and just wears multiple shirts at one time, which increases the laundry loads exponentially! Sheesh!

So, enough complaining. Is everyone ready for the Big Day!?? I'm 99.9% there. I just have one more gift to buy and I thought of it this morning, but it should be easy to get! DH needs a new popcorn popper. The kind with the oil that spins the kernels around til they pop! I can pick that up at Wal*Mart.

Well, that's about it for now! Take care and I'll try to get back here a little more often!

Ok I think I'm finally ready for christmas. I just put in my last order good thing for express shipping those reindeer are going to be really tired this year :rotfl2:.

Bunchkin Donna Hope you both get your shopping done too.

I need to get some real work done so I can pay those christmas bills when they come. ;)

Howdy! :wave2:

Ok, somebody please tell me that I am not the only one here who isn't finished with their Christmas shopping??
Hopefully I will finish before the weekend!! Or at least by Saturday!!! :thumbsup2

Gotta run!
Take care all!!!

hey bunchkin.
nope, you are not the only one here who is not finished.

i have yet to put up a tree, send out cards, shopped for the christmas day meal, shopped for gifts for anyone yet, or baked one thing for the holiday.

it's now wednesday.
i figure i have time.
stores will be open late on monday.

good wednesday morning chicagoland homies

leigh, i went to mr mac's office party friday at Fultons on the river.
they did the mashed potatoe thing also in the martini glasses.

i put the taters on my plate..........i was a rebel......

I get to go home right after work today (7pm), and not go anywhere afterwards:woohoo: What am I going to do with all this extra time  In all seriousness, the meeting I went to last night was good, and my friend Jennifer and I went out to dinner beforehand, which was very nice too :goodvibes But I am looking forward to just going home tonight :)

I also remembered to DVR the Christmas WDW special:santa: :woohoo: I can hardly wait to watch it with the kids sometime this weekend.

Poor Katie is stressing out so much about what Santa is bringing her. She wants the AMG Bitty Twins, their bed, and The Dora Kitchen (Dora Kitchen) being the MOST important on her list. Well, Santa is bringing the AMG items, and Kevin and I are giving her the Dora Kitchen, and I know when Santa doesn't bring this kitchen, she's going to be so sad :guilty: I can't change and give the kitchen from Santa, because Stephanie was with Kevin when he bought it, and she still believes in Santa. I thought about giving Katie her present on Christmas Eve, but I'm not sure if I want to do that because I like giving the girls presents from us on Christmas Day - decisions, decisions!!!

Becky - How did the shopping go? How were the stores? Was it a crazy zoo?

Sam - I understand about being totally busy ::yes:: and it like that long hallway that keeps getting longer - that's a great way to put it ::yes:: Our shopping is 99.9% done too, and it feels like a huge weight lifted off me. Now I have to get all the wrapping done, which I do a little every morning, and then I'll be done :woohoo: I personally enjoy the shopping and despise the wrapping - I hate to wrap!!!

HERSEY - I'm dreading those Christmas bills  Let's not talk about them :teeth:

Mac - Good luck getting all that stuff done :wizard: Try and not get stressed out :headache:

Well, I gotta run and wrap some more gifts
Have a good day today everyone!!

slo, that is a tough decision to make...........

hope all have a great day today.

It's Wednesday and I only have 2 more days of work before taking off for 2 weeks! I am so ready. Like some of you, i still have a little shopping to do - one gc, something else for my mom, and maybe a few stocking stuffers for dh. I also have Puppy Chow to make for gifts for my neighbors. After that, I am ready for Christmas.

DH surprised me last night. He made ressies for Cinderella's Royal Table for 8:15 pm on March 25th. I can't wait. He was designing an annoucement and Santa is bringing that to our family for a Christmas gift. I had no idea he was planning that!

We are planning to go to the Museum of Science and Industry to see the trees this weekend. Then ds and I will return over break to do the Star Wars exhibit. I am looking forward to the trees more than Star Wars!

Take care everybody! Keep shopping, baking and enjoy the holidays!
Lori

IBecky - How did the shopping go? How were the stores? Was it a crazy zoo?

Shopping wasn't too bad but I tell you I ended up hardly getting anything and spending tons of $$$, the few hours I had I went to Target, Wal-Mart & Toys R Us and still need to get more stuff. The good news is I came home and wrapped everything, turns out DD had about 13 gifts and well the boys had about 7 or 8 each, so I have to rectify that. I'm going to hold 2 gifts back for her birthday, so then it's only 11. Won't be so hard to even out. I did find 2 really *big* gifts for the boys. Basically I'm done with the oldest & youngest but still need to find a few things for the middle guys. About the only store that was crazy was the Toys R Us but I only went there trying to inspire myself to find something for the boys. One thing did jump out that is kind of weird gift but I think it's funny. It was a DVD of "Rescue from Gilligan's Island" my 10 year old is into watching it and I couldn't pass that up considering just the other day he asked me "Do they ever get rescued?" :lmao:

I'm probably the only one with a 4 year old who can sing the theme song to Gilligan's Island since he's watched it on the computer with his brothers (and he knows *both* versions). He went to speech class going along singing that and I had to explain what he was singing. :rotfl2:

We are planning to go to the Museum of Science and Industry to see the trees this weekend. Then ds and I will return over break to do the Star Wars exhibit. I am looking forward to the trees more than Star Wars!

:thumbsup2 We saw it already and the boys want to see it again, so we are planning on going over break. DD doesn't want to see it again, so she will go see something else while one of us parents take the boys through the exhibit. I think she'll hit the genetics exhibit since last time she was rushed through it. I just don't know if we are going New Year's Eve or New Year's day since I have to find out if DH has New Year's Eve off. I know DH won't drive at night but we can get home before it gets too late.
We will have to get tickets soon. If you don't have yours, I would *highly* suggest getting them on-line in advance. I know the last time we went they were already sold out for the day at 10 AM. I know a couple days look like they have already been sold out over the break too.

I'm taking DD to watch the High School gymnastics team tonight since she will be on it next year hopefully. I'm a bit freaked out at the thought of me having a Freshman & even more freaked out when I went to the middle school website for something and saw a scrolling message about HS registration for the 8th graders, that the counselors will be coming to talk to them Jan. 31. :scared1:

I'm *so* not ready for that.

OH, I got a notice from the Sears Centre that Go Diego Go is going to be there, so I got tickets for me & the little guy to go to a Friday morning show in Feb. Hopefully I'll get home in time to pick up the boys from school. :rotfl: According to mapquest it's only 30 minutes away. I've never been there before so we shall see.

Ok who jinxed me. I was going over the christmas presents and I seem to have forgotten stocking stuffers and a gift from Santa. Do you think Santa would give socks.:rotfl:

Slo Can Santa bring something for her kitchen? Santa does see what is going on and saw you buy the kitchen and thought Katie would like ... to go with her new kitchen. Just a thought.

:surfweb:

Mac - :wave2:

Momto1 - That's great about going to Cindy's for dinner princess: I've been there for breakfast several times, but never for dinner. I would like to try it sometime.
**Have fun at the the museum this weekend.

HERSEY - That's a good idea - I'll have to mention that to Kevin. :)
What is Alex asking for this Christmas?

Becky - I'm glad your shopping wasn't to bad, and that you were able to get everything wrapped already - that's awesome!!!

Speaking of wrapping - I have more I have to do this morning
Have a good day today everyone!!

I had such a miserable night on Tuesday!

I had to stay a little late at work last night, but I was planning on catching the 6:50pm train, which is the last express train. But the time got away from me, and I had just barely enough time to make it to the train station, and it was iffy as it was.

There's this ramp going out of my building (it's inside), and I was running down the ramp, which I usually do because it's just easier, and somehow I tripped and did a belly flop right to the ground! I had my ipod hooked on my pants pocket, so I fell right on that, and that's what I was thinking as I went down, what's going to happen to the ipod, but it just went to the next song and it seems fine.

I, on the other hand, couldn't breathe. A woman came up to ask me if I was ok, and I couldn't breathe, much less talk. I had the wind totally knocked out of me. Finally I started breathing again, and could say that I was ok, but I was definitely going to miss my train now!

So after a couple of minutes I got up and went to the train station. Of course I had missed my train by a couple of minutes, so I had to wait for the 7:40pm train. I got garbage to eat at the train station and started calling all my friends for a pity party.

I got to my station around 8:45pm, and then had to go to Kohl's to get some things, so I didn't get home until 10pm, and then I still had to wash my hair and print out a bunch of pictures for a present.

Tuesday night just sucked.

Tuesday night just sucked.

Hopefully you'll have a *much* better Tuesday this coming week. ;)

In case I don't get around to posting again prior to then, I hope everyone's holiday season is going well and that they get everything they wish for. :)

good thursday morning chicagoland homies.

leigh that was not a good evening for you. are you bruised now?

just a quick drop by.
hope you all have a great day.

good thursday morning chicagoland homies.

leigh that was not a good evening for you. are you bruised now?

My knees are really bruised, and one of them is scraped up as well.

I think a couple of ribs might be bruised as well, but nothing bad.

I'll live, it was just one of those nights where it seemed like everything went wrong. :sad2: :rotfl2:

I'm making an early New Year's resolution to be earlier to my trains so I'm not rushing and that doesn't happen again. So far, last night and this morning, so good. :thumbsup2

Hi there everyone!

Leigh ~ Sorry that you fell. I hope you are able to keep working at not rushing for the train. I too fell once and made a point to do the same thing.

Sounds like everyone is getting all the shopping done. We only have a couple more things to get and I even ready to do some wrapping today.

Anyone know where I can look for some colorful socks for Lauren (5)?? Santa always leaves socks and she really wants colors this time.

Leigh, glad you were not seriously hurt in that fall. Hope your bruises heal up soon for you!

It has been very slippery around here this winter. I just can't believe I am sitting here Chrismas week with a broken back, unable to finish my shopping sigh.. at least I started early so I have a good portion of things bought already.

Went to the doctor yesterday and he said stay home and come back Jan 2. So it looks like another couple of weeks off work. I am afraid I will forget what I learned if I don't get back soon! eek! Was barely trained when this happened.

On a happier note, so are there any New Year Resolutions for any of you? I am probably going with my old standard "lose weight" though I intend to be more serious about it this coming year.

What is everyone else wishing for a NY Resolution?

Carol ~ I am sorry that you will be laid up like that. How is the pain?

New Year's Resolution for me is to get in shape. I have a few pounds I could stand to lose, but mainly I want to be a bit more fit and healthy.

HI everyone! :teleport: a quick post and run of course. Life has been crazy busy lately! With the 3 little ones and Roman still being off and on sick, it's been hard to do much else :) haah Then my little shop business has soared and i'm nearing 200 sales in the 3 months that I have opened up the little shop front, so that keeps me busy too.

I hope all is well with you this holiday season! We are doing great, just busy busy!!

Today is Friday right? I don't want to make the same mistake as last week :rotfl2:

I'm still taking Christmas sales at work, so we are keeping busy there:) . I will continue to take Christmas sales until we close tomorrow, and than if I have to work on Sunday to get things done, than so be it, I won't mind. I'm feeling so blessed to have this much business, with the store being so young. :goodvibes

Leigh - I read your post yesterday, but I didn't have time to respond. I want to send many hugs to you    I hope you feel better from your fall soon:wizard: and I hope the rest of this week ends well for you :wizard:

Crissup - Merry Christmas to you too!!! :goodvibes :santa:

Mac - :wave2:

piglet - Target and Walmart both have colorful socks. Santa leaves socks for my girls too, and he did for me as well when I was a kid. Santa puts them in the toe of the stocking, so then there's socks in a sock :teeth: :santa:

Carol - I'm sorry you have to stay home so long, but it will fly by before you know it - especially with the hustle and bustle of the holidays. I'm sure your work will understand if you need a little refreshing on what you learned. I will send continued PD your way to get better soon :wizard: :wizard:
**I haven't decided on what my New Years Resolution is going to be yet :sad2: 2 years ago I made a resolution to watch tv from 9-10pm every night, and I've done a great job keeping that (it actually wasn't easy). I was working around the house until bedtime, and than couldn't sleep well because I never gave myself a chance to relax and clear my head of the day. I had to really work on walking away from folding laundry, scrubbing the floor, cleaning the bathroom, and make time for just me.

DMM - I sorry to hear that Roman is still sick off and on - poor thing!!!!:guilty: I'll send a ton of PD his way to get better and stay better:wizard: :wizard:
**That's great about your business doing so well!!! :woohoo: I hope it continues to grow and do well for you :wizard:

Well, I gotta run and get some stuff done around the house
Have a good day today everyone!!

Morning all!

Headed over to the dr. office for more blood work today as the results the other day were not so good. So the vampires need me back again Monday. Coumadin is a pain!

Speaking of pain, lol, Vicodan is a wonderful thing! Was on morphine in the hospital but Vicodan seems to be drug of choice to send folks home with. That and flexeril is keeping me sane here.

Wrapping some gifts each day and should be on schedule to finish up. DD Kristen's birthday is Monday Christmas Eve and I ordered her a nice cake from the bakery shop in our village. Hoping it is tasty and well decorated!

Hoping the weather holds out here. We don't have far to travel for the holidays but it is so easy to slip as Leigh and I will attest to.

Happy day everyone!
